Chapter 305: An Old Cow Eats Tender Grass
That was absolutely out of the question.
So, for their own private dinners, they never invited anyone from Lu Yunque’s circle.
But Yun Zijin was different. Age-wise, it was easier for everyone to chat with her. Plus, unlike Lu Yunque and his friends, Yun Zijin wouldn’t try to boss them around.
Anyway, it was just a matter of vibes.
Fu Ze had only meant to scare them a little. After hearing their explanation, he didn’t press the issue.
"Go on. Are you two going to finish your game or not?"
There were still a few balls on the table. It looked like they were nearing the final, decisive moment.
"Game on!"
Lu Yunfeng and Fu Ze picked up their cues and continued.
Li Yue Xuan stood nearby, acting as the referee.
Everyone in the suite had found something to do. But Cheng Yushu and Zhu Yuehua seemed to have been forgotten, sitting on the sofa, unsure whether to stay or go.
Su Mengyao noticed something was off with the two of them. But then she remembered how eagerly they had tried to talk to Fu Ze earlier, and a wave of displeasure washed over her.
’She had brought them here. To a certain extent, their actions would reflect on her.’
Su Mengyao got up from her spot and sat down next to Cheng Yushu.
"You two... if you’re not having a good time, I can talk to Zijin and have someone take you home."
If they wanted to leave, Yungong No. 1 would definitely make the proper arrangements.
"Not at all. We’re not unhappy. Yaoyao, you must have misread the situation."
Of course they were unhappy, but they weren’t willing to give up and leave midway through.
’They had seen it clearly just now. If Fu Ze could show interest in that poor student Yun Zijin brought, there was no reason he wouldn’t be interested in them.’
"But you just... made President Fu angry. The others won’t look kindly on you either."
Su Mengyao didn’t understand what they were holding out for. It was obvious no one here liked them, yet they insisted on staying.
Initially, Yun Zijin’s attitude toward them had been quite good. But after the incident with Fu Ze, she noticed Yun Zijin had grown much colder.
But she hadn’t asked them to leave, which could be considered a way of letting them save face.
’But if they keep lingering here, they’ll only make themselves more uncomfortable.’
"It’s fine. We’re already here. If we leave early, there’ll be no chance to salvage the situation."
Zhu Yuehua didn’t want to leave. The people here were all figures she couldn’t get close to no matter how hard she tried. If she missed today’s opportunity, she didn’t know when the next one would come.
"Suit yourselves. But whatever you do next, remember to have some tact. Don’t do anything stupid."
Su Mengyao couldn’t understand their thinking. They didn’t want to leave, and it wasn’t like she could just kick them out.
"Don’t worry, we’ll be careful."
’They had just been too hasty. Next time they acted, they would certainly be more careful.’
Knowing she couldn’t persuade them, Su Mengyao decided not to bother anymore.
’Anyway, with Yun Zijin around, the others wouldn’t do anything too outrageous. She could only pray her friends wouldn’t do anything stupid again.’
Su Mengyao didn’t move again. She stayed seated next to Cheng Yushu and brought her half-finished drink over.
Zhu Yuehua glanced at Su Mengyao, her eyes darting as a plan formed in her mind.
The next thing Su Mengyao saw was Zhu Yuehua abruptly standing up from the sofa and walking toward the recreational area of the suite.
"Yuehua, what are you doing?"
Afraid she was about to do something stupid again, Su Mengyao quickly asked.
Cheng Yushu also looked at Zhu Yuehua, waiting for her answer.
"I saw there are a lot of musical instruments over there and wanted to go have a look."
As she spoke, Zhu Yuehua lowered her head, a shy expression on her face.
"What are you planning to do?"
Su Mengyao watched Zhu Yuehua warily, completely on guard against whatever she might be planning.
"I just want to go have a look."
Zhu Yuehua didn’t say what she planned to do, but her mind was made up. Even with Su Mengyao trying to dissuade her, she had no intention of giving up.
"Don’t go acting on your own."
’Everyone here is sharp as a tack. No matter what she does, they’ll see right through her intentions.’
’If you can’t fit into a circle, don’t force it.’
This was a truth Su Mengyao had learned from her years in their social circles.
’Zhu Yuehua and Cheng Yushu seemed so normal before. Why did they start acting like idiots the moment they met Fu Ze and the others?’
"Didn’t they say we could do whatever we want? I’m just doing what I feel like doing."
Zhu Yuehua felt that as long as she could better showcase her talents, she still had a chance.
’Even if it’s not one of the ’Crown Princes,’ the other younger guys are fine too.’
Cheng Yushu glanced at Zhu Yuehua. A flicker of something crossed her eyes, but she neither encouraged nor stopped her.
Su Mengyao was helpless. She could only think that Zhu Yuehua must have a few screws loose.
"Suit yourself!"
’She wouldn’t listen to reason. She’ll learn her lesson when she hits a wall.’
Zhu Yuehua smiled at Su Mengyao, then turned and continued walking.
At that moment, Qin Sitong also noticed Zhu Yuehua’s movements and saw her sit down at a grand piano.
"Is she going to play the piano?"
Qin Sitong’s attention was drawn to Zhu Yuehua.
Fu Ze glanced at Zhu Yuehua’s figure, his brows knitting slightly. "Don’t mind her."
In Fu Ze’s opinion, the only reason Zhu Yuehua was doing this was to attract their attention.
In the socialite circles of Dijing, being able to play the piano was practically a basic skill. So if she was trying to attract their attention by playing, Zhu Yuehua had seriously miscalculated.
Just as Fu Ze finished speaking, a graceful piano melody began to play, sounding rather jarring in a room filled with rhythmic music.
It was only then that Yun Zijin noticed Zhu Yuehua, who had somehow sat down at the piano and started playing.
There was a corner in the suite with a variety of musical instruments.
There were Western instruments as well as ones from Hua Country, but normally, no one ever used them. They were basically just for decoration.
Yun Zijin had been to this suite so many times, and Zhu Yuehua was the first person to ever use one of the instruments.
"What is she doing?"
Yun Zijin looked at Su Mengyao.
’Playing the piano in the suite... doesn’t she feel like it doesn’t match the party’s atmosphere at all?’
Su Mengyao shrugged. "I tried to talk her out of it. It didn’t work."
’You can’t wake someone who’s pretending to be asleep.’
The music playing in the suite, mixed with Zhu Yuehua’s piano melody, was grating on the ears.
"Hey! You on the piano, can you stop playing!?"
Of the four younger guys, Li Yue Xuan was by far the most audacious. He didn’t like what he was hearing, so he just told Zhu Yuehua to stop.
Zhu Yuehua’s piano playing came to an abrupt halt. She followed the sound of the voice and looked toward Li Yue Xuan. "I... Did I do something wrong?"
With that, she timidly stood up from the piano bench, facing Li Yue Xuan.
"There’s already music playing in the suite. Don’t you think your piano playing is just noisy? Stop it. It’s annoying."
When dealing with others, Li Yue Xuan never knew the meaning of politeness. He said whatever was on his mind, completely disregarding Zhu Yuehua’s feelings.
"I... It’s my fault. I’m sorry..."
Zhu Yuehua lowered her head, her eyes already red, but she stubbornly held back her tears.
"What are you crying for? I didn’t hit you or curse at you. Anyone who didn’t know better would think I did something terrible to you."
