Chapter 269: Xia Zhengguang Wants a Divorce
"Ms. Zhang, our investigation shows you’re connected to a premeditated kidnapping case. Please come back to the station with us to cooperate with the investigation."
The two uniformed police officers presented their badges and stated the reason for their visit.
"You have the wrong person. I’ve never done anything like that. Don’t frame an innocent person."
Zhang Yiqin tried her best to remain calm and not reveal any weaknesses.
"We already have conclusive evidence, Ms. Zhang. Please cooperate with the investigation."
The two officers’ attitudes were firm.
If Zhang Yiqin refused to cooperate, they had the right to request enforcement by compulsion.
After all, Yun Zijin’s side had already provided relevant evidence. This was a criminal offense, and no matter how capable Zhang Yiqin was, she couldn’t escape it.
"Is this how you police officers force people to submit? I said I didn’t do it, and that means I didn’t do it! You want me to go to the J Bureau with you? Are you planning to beat a confession out of me?!
Get out! Get out now! I don’t want to see you here again!"
Zhang Yiqin remained steadfast in her denial.
Xia Zhiyun had just walked up to the hospital room from outside when he heard his mother shouting at the two police officers. Her attitude was atrocious, and he was completely floored.
Honestly, if Zhang Yiqin weren’t his mother, Xia Zhiyun really wouldn’t want to get involved.
’Premeditated kidnapping... Does my mother even know what she’s doing?!’
"Mom!"
Xia Zhiyun walked into the hospital room. He had rushed over from the company; if the butler hadn’t sent him a message that he happened to see, he would’ve had no idea what his mother might do.
’Seriously, how is it that I’m only just now realizing how stupid my mother is?!’
Seeing Xia Zhiyun, Zhang Yiqin lit up as if a fish had found water.
"Zhiyun, tell them I didn’t do anything! I don’t want to go to the J Bureau, I don’t want to!"
Zhang Yiqin knew what she had done. She knew what awaited her if she went to the J Bureau.
No matter what, she could not go to the J Bureau.
If she went to the J Bureau, everything she had painstakingly built would be ruined!
"Mom, if you really didn’t do it, then just go. It’s only to cooperate with the investigation. I believe the police won’t frame an innocent person."
Xia Zhiyun had already found out what Zhang Yiqin had done, but she was such a liability that he didn’t want to deal with it anymore.
As long as the Xia Family was still standing, even if Zhang Yiqin went to prison for a few years, he, as her son, would still take care of her after she got out.
’It’s fine. It’s just a few years in prison.’
"I’m not going! If I didn’t do anything, why should I have to cooperate with an investigation?! I’m not going!"
Even with Xia Zhiyun telling her to go, Zhang Yiqin still insisted on not going to the J Bureau.
"You idiot!"
Along with an infuriated shout of "You idiot!", the door to the hospital room was kicked open with a loud BANG.
SLAP!
Before Zhang Yiqin could even react, Xia Zhengguang, who had just burst in, slapped her across the face.
One slap wasn’t enough; he raised his hand for a second, but Xia Zhiyun stopped him.
"Dad! Dad, calm down. Berating Mom is useless now. She has to go to the J Bureau and cooperate with the investigation."
They already have evidence. His mother’s refusal to cooperate would only add to her crimes.
"Hmph! Before she goes to the J Bureau, I’m divorcing her!"
Xia Zhengguang was not the type of good husband who would share weal and woe. Now that Zhang Yiqin had caused such a huge scandal, the Xia family’s stock would definitely plummet if word got out.
The company was already in a terrible state because of its cash flow problems, and now Zhang Yiqin had to go and commit a criminal offense. If the police officers weren’t watching, Xia Zhengguang really would have beaten the idiot senseless.
It was one thing to be unhelpful, but she was actively dragging them down. In any case, Xia Zhengguang would absolutely not allow Zhang Yiqin to still have the status of his wife when she was sentenced.
The two police officers looked at each other. They were witnessing a very exciting family drama.
"What did you say?"
Zhang Yiqin couldn’t believe that Xia Zhengguang would actually bring up divorce.
"Here are the divorce papers. Sign them. Weren’t you already discharged from the hospital anyway? Once you sign, we can go to the Civil Affairs Bureau."
Just the agreement wasn’t enough; it would be safer to get the divorce certificate at the same time.
"Officers, we’re going to get divorced first. After that’s done, I’ll personally bring her to the J Bureau."
Once they were divorced, Zhang Yiqin would no longer be his wife. Whether she went to prison or not was unimportant to him.
Xia Zhiyun stood to the side, opening and closing his mouth, but in the end, he said nothing.
What could he say? This time, Zhang Yiqin had truly dragged them down—dragged them down so hard she might as well have broken their legs.
"I won’t sign!"
Zhang Yiqin knew that if they really divorced, Xia Zhengguang would absolutely abandon her.
And based on her understanding of Xia Zhengguang, she knew he definitely wouldn’t give her much money.
Once divorced, she would get nothing.
And to be personally escorted to the J Bureau by Xia Zhengguang... that was worse than death.
"You won’t sign? Then what about Xia Jiajiao’s marriage alliance? The jobs of your parents and brothers..."
Xia Zhengguang didn’t have to finish his sentence; Zhang Yiqin knew exactly what he meant.
’The marriage alliance!’
’Right, wasn’t the marriage alliance the whole reason she did this to Yun Zijin?!’
’Where’s Jiao Jiao? Where did Jiao Jiao go?’
"Where’s Jiao Jiao?"
Zhang Yiqin looked at Xia Zhiyun.
"I don’t know."
Zhang Yiqin then looked at the butler.
"The young miss left not long ago, but she didn’t say where she was going. Perhaps you could call and ask her?"
The butler really hadn’t wanted to speak up, but with Zhang Yiqin staring at him like that, he had no choice.
"Sign the papers!"
Xia Zhengguang couldn’t care less about Xia Jiajiao or Yun Zijin; all he wanted right now was a divorce.
"Zhiyun, make your dad leave! I’m not getting a divorce!"
Zhang Yiqin felt like she was suffocating. Everything was piling on top of her at once.
"Hmph! Zhiyun is currently the heir to the Xia family. If he chooses to help you, I can always replace the heir."
Xia Zhengguang was hardly a faithful husband. He had countless affairs on the side.
Of course, Zhang Yiqin knew this, but for the sake of her position as the wife of the Xia family’s chairman, she had simply turned a blind eye.
And while Xia Zhengguang couldn’t control his lower body, he had never let any of his affairs show up with a child to cause a scene in front of Zhang Yiqin. He considered himself to have handled things very well.
"Xia Zhengguang, you bastard!"
Zhang Yiqin’s emotions collapsed. She couldn’t understand how she could have woken up to find herself abandoned by everyone after being unconscious with a fever for just a few hours.
"Are you signing or not?"
Xia Zhengguang ignored Zhang Yiqin’s emotional state, only wanting her to sign the divorce papers.
The two police officers didn’t rush them. It was normal for unexpected things to happen on a field assignment, causing it to take a little longer.
"I can sign, but I have conditions."
Zhang Yiqin knew that if she didn’t sign, Xia Zhengguang was very likely to do something even more drastic.
She would absolutely not let some other woman’s child replace her own children as the heir to the Xia family!
"Name them."
As long as Zhang Yiqin signed, Xia Zhengguang didn’t want to push her too hard either.
After all, they were husband and wife; she still knew a lot of his secrets.
If Zhang Yiqin couldn’t keep her mouth shut and blabbed, he would be the one to suffer.
"Zhiyun must remain the heir to the Xia family. Also, aside from the alimony you have to give me, I also want the house we’re living in now, with only my name on the deed."
