Chapter 293: The Xia Family’s Largest Shareholder

After hanging up, Xia Zhiyun wearily rubbed the bridge of his nose.

The butler, however, paid no mind to Xia Zhiyun’s mood. Having submitted his resignation, he took his already-packed belongings and left the Xia Family villa.

12:00 AM.

Yun Zijin sat on her bed, a virtual screen from the system open before her.

The moment the clock struck midnight, the system’s broadcast began.

[Congratulations to the Host for completing this week’s cumulative spending mission. Rewards granted: 5x cash rebate. ¥100,000,000.00 has been deposited into the Host’s savings account. 15% of Xia Group’s shares. 1x Randomly Spend custom business vehicle. 1x manor design blueprint. Complete ownership of the Dijing Shire Hotel. 10x cans of Baonu Tea.]

Yun Zijin had already spent 2.5 billion buying Xia Group’s shares this week, so she hadn’t been worried about completing the spending mission in the slightest.

However, when she saw the 15% of Xia Group’s shares among the rewards, Yun Zijin was glad she wasn’t drinking water.

She had spent all this time making so many arrangements and plans, yet she never expected Randomly Spend to just take care of it for her with a single reward.

She had already acquired 26%, and now with another 15%, her stake was a whopping 41%.

While it wasn’t enough for a controlling interest, if she sold these shares to someone else, it was entirely possible for them to achieve it.

Even if she couldn’t, as long as her share percentage was greater than the Xia father and son’s combined, that would be enough.

What Yun Zijin didn’t quite understand, however, was how Randomly Spend had managed to acquire so many shares. None of Xia Group’s minority shareholders had been selling before.

Yun Zijin pulled up the information regarding the 15% stake from her system inventory.

It turned out that many shareholders had learned that Xia Zhengguang himself had sold some of his shares. Believing the Xia Group was now a lost cause, they had jumped at the chance when someone offered to buy their shares for a price higher than the market rate. A significant number of them chose to sell off.

Ultimately, this allowed Randomly Spend to acquire a 15% stake.

Though they were online transactions, both parties had signed electronic contracts, which were absolutely legally binding.

With this, the Xia Group was just about finished.

In high spirits, Yun Zijin drifted off into a pleasant sleep.

The next morning at 8:00 AM, Yun Zijin received the usual weekend notice from Randomly Spend.

[In accordance with the Interstellar System Supreme Law, Saturday is a rest day. The Host is not required to complete a spending mission.]

[In accordance with the Interstellar System and Host Labor Law, the Host has a maximum spending allowance of ¥10,000,000.00 on rest days. Use of this allowance is not mandatory, does not roll over, cannot trigger rebates, and yields no rewards.]

But Yun Zijin had no intention of resting. She planned to give the Xia father-son duo a "surprise."

Yun Zijin had Mei Lin call another shareholder meeting in her capacity as the Xia Group’s largest shareholder.

That’s right. Xia Zhengguang previously held a 40% stake. After selling 5%, he was left with only 35%. Yun Zijin’s 41% made her the new largest shareholder of the Xia Group.

Mei Lin sent an email notification directly to all of the Xia Group’s shareholders—an email that would forcibly open the moment they connected their computer or phone to the internet.

Whether they wanted to attend or not, the notification would be delivered.

As Mei Lin sent the email, Xia Zhengguang and Xia Zhiyun were having breakfast.

Both men picked up their phones at nearly the same time, and the email forced itself open the moment they unlocked their devices.

The expressions on the faces of the father and son soured as they read the shareholder meeting notification.

"Dad..."

Xia Zhiyun looked up, about to speak to Xia Zhengguang, only to see the same email displayed on his father’s phone screen.

Xia Zhengguang’s expression was incredibly foul. They had just barely managed to get through the last shareholder meeting, and now someone was already calling another.

And this person was doing it under the authority of the largest shareholder. Xia Zhengguang’s gaze flickered, his thoughts unreadable.

"Dad, how could a new largest shareholder just appear out of nowhere?"

His dad held a 40% stake. To be the largest shareholder, someone would need to hold more than 40%.

’Don’t tell me all the minority shareholders sold off their shares behind our backs?’

’But it’s only been a short while. How could they all change their minds so quickly?’

"How should I know?! Finish your breakfast! We’re going to the company for the meeting!"

This new largest shareholder filled Xia Zhengguang with a profound sense of crisis.

「Villa 1, Xingyu Mansion.」

Yun Zijin finished her breakfast in a leisurely manner, then called Lu Yunque to tell him she was heading to the Xia Group for a shareholder meeting.

She didn’t, however, go into detail about the shares.

After all, she wasn’t sure how to explain the sudden appearance of an extra 15% stake.

Whatever Yun Zijin wanted to do, Lu Yunque gave her his full and unconditional support.

The workday at Xia Group began at 9:00 AM, but Yun Zijin had scheduled the shareholder meeting for 9:30.

At 9:28 AM, only the Xia father-son duo, Li Haichuan, and Chen Xianfeng were present.

"Why is it just you two?"

Li Haichuan and Chen Xianfeng exchanged a look. ’How would we know?’

"Didn’t the person who called the meeting claim to be the largest shareholder? Maybe they bought out all the other shareholders."

That would be a near-total consolidation. Who on earth could have accomplished something they themselves hadn’t managed in all these years?

Chen Xianfeng’s tone was laced with sarcasm, but his words made the others’ expressions shift.

’If what Chen Xianfeng said is true, then this new shareholder is probably even more difficult to deal with than they imagined.’

’A 41% stake... at the market price of 500 million per percentage point, that’s 20.5 billion.’

’With that much money, any company seeking funding would worship them like a god.’

At exactly 9:30 AM, Yun Zijin appeared at the entrance of the Xia Group’s conference room. Zero One and Ling Er stepped forward to open the doors for her.

Mei Lin followed a step behind and to Yun Zijin’s right, holding a stack of documents, her face devoid of expression.

Li Haichuan and Chen Xianfeng were both stunned for a moment when they saw Mei Lin, and their minds immediately began to race with various speculations.

As for the Xia father-son duo, they turned and saw Yun Zijin at the door, and their eyes widened in shock.

"What are you doing here?"

"This is the Xia Group’s conference room! It’s not a place for you!"

Yun Zijin didn’t answer them directly. A brilliant smile spread across her face, but it didn’t reach her eyes.

"Of course I know this is the Xia Group’s conference room. I’m here for the meeting."

Yun Zijin scanned the room. Besides herself, there were only four shareholders left.

’Looks like Randomly Spend was very thorough this time.’

"What did you say?"

"What do you mean?"

The Xia father-son duo stared in utter disbelief. Yun Zijin was the new shareholder who had sent them that mandatory email!

"It means exactly what it sounds like," Yun Zijin said as she walked, stopping beside Xia Zhengguang. "Now that I’m the largest shareholder, this seat... isn’t quite appropriate for you, is it, Chairman Xia?"

’Forget everything else. At a shareholder meeting, the largest shareholder sits at the head of the table. Nothing wrong with that, right?’

"You... you unfilial wretch!"

Xia Zhengguang felt that even if he didn’t have a heart condition, Yun Zijin was about to give him one.

"I don’t rely on the Xia Family to make a living, so your words are quite baseless, Chairman Xia."

"If you insist on sitting there, I don’t mind having my bodyguards assist you."
