He seemed terrified of losing the diamonds. After zipping up the bag, he checked it over and over again for any holes or damage.

Fang Chenyi and the others completely understood Tie Dan’s reaction. After all, the dozen or so diamonds Fang Chenyi had casually handed out were worth well over three hundred thousand.

Even Billson, the number three figure in the Cobra Organization, was moved when he saw Fang Chenyi so casually give away something worth over a million to his own subordinate.

At the same time, a flicker of anticipation sparked within him about following his new boss. ’Maybe one day,’ he thought, ’the boss will casually reward me with over a million, too.’

While everyone was lost in their own thoughts, Vajra suddenly let out a couple of howls at Fang Chenyi.

Fang Chenyi followed the sound with his gaze and saw the big guy pointing at the box of diamonds with a displeased look on his face. When he saw Fang Chenyi looking, he pointed at himself.

The meaning was obvious: everyone else had gotten one, but he hadn’t.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi and the others burst out laughing. This big fella was just too funny.

Looking at the big, dark hand extended right in front of him, Fang Chenyi chuckled and picked up an egg-sized rock from the ground, placing it in Vajra’s palm.

Vajra’s face immediately lit up with a grin. He didn’t care whether it was a rock or a diamond; in his eyes, as long as he wasn’t forgotten and got his share, that was all that mattered.

Noticing that his "diamond" was bigger than everyone else’s, he even started showing off his new rock to Qi Xiaotian.

This, of course, was met with another round of hearty laughter from the group.

Not knowing why everyone was laughing, Vajra joined in with a big laugh of his own.

Once this little interlude was over, Fang Chenyi turned directly to Billson beside him and asked:

"The pictures of diamond mines I’ve seen online are always of a huge, deep pit. But you’re mining on a flat surface here. Is that also because of... that reason?"

The "reason" Fang Chenyi referred to was, of course, the Sea God’s Relic. He didn’t say it outright because there were other people around.

After hearing this, Billson just shook his head with a wry smile.

"No, Boss. The fastest method is actually the open-pit approach. But because of the climate here, it rains every other day, and we can’t get our hands on a large-scale water pumping system. If we dug a deep pit, it would turn into a large pond within a few days, making excavation even more difficult."

Hearing this explanation, Fang Chenyi nodded. Now he understood why they were doing it this way.

"Boss, let me take you inside. We can use the Compass to take another measurement."

Fang Chenyi paused, taken aback by Billson’s words. He then remembered the Compass he’d tossed into his woven bag. ’Where am I supposed to find that thing now?’ he thought.

Everyone turned their heads to see Vajra trying to clamp Er Gouzi’s mouth shut to stop him from barking.

But this time, Er Gouzi resisted fiercely, struggling with all his might.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi immediately snapped:

"Vajra! Put Er Gouzi down!"

Upon hearing the command, Vajra could only reluctantly place Er Gouzi on the ground.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi paid them no more mind and was about to look away. But as soon as Er Gouzi was on the ground, he ran over to Fang Chenyi, let out two barks, then turned and dashed away.

After running a few steps, he didn’t forget to stop, look back, and bark at Fang Chenyi again.

After running for nearly ten minutes, Er Gouzi finally stopped in front of a large boulder.

The boulder was more than three meters wide, but only ten-odd centimeters of it were exposed above ground; there was no telling how much of it was buried underneath.

Once at the boulder, Er Gouzi began sniffing incessantly as he circled it. After making a full circle, he leaped onto the boulder and started twitching his nose again.

After a moment, he lifted his head, looked at Fang Chenyi, and started barking again.

Seeing Er Gouzi’s behavior, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but frown. ’Has this guy really discovered something?’

He looked around. By his estimation, the large boulder was located right in the center of the mountain.

He also observed that the boulder was still very damp, a clear sign it had only recently been unearthed. It also seemed that the bulldozers had been unable to move it and had given up, a fact made obvious by the metal scrape marks along its edge.

"Brother Fang, should we dig this rock out?"

He frowned and thought for a long moment, then studied the large boulder for another long moment. ’Could there be some secret buried beneath it?’

"Oh, Boss! Your dog seems to have found something! I think you should take out the Compass and investigate right now. It’s very possible the thing we’re looking for is right under this rock!"
