Chapter 460 - 162: Bewildered Peak Master Zhenyue (Part 2)
After his breakthrough to the Qi Eating Realm, his body’s demand for energy had increased dramatically. The usual two pounds of Exotic Beast Meat was no longer enough to sustain him; he needed a greater energy intake.
Either he could have the kitchens prepare more Exotic Beast Meat for each meal.
Or, he could switch to the more expensive and energy-rich Rare Exotic Beast Meat.
’No matter which option he chose, he was afraid he’d have to spend a lot more contribution points on food from now on.’
Yang Jing tidied up a bit, then glanced at the sky. Estimating it was about time, he got up, left his courtyard, locked the gate, and walked briskly toward the summit of Lingxi Peak.
Morning dew still clung to the grass and trees lining the mountain path, and the crisp air was invigorating.
As he hurried toward the summit, Yang Jing’s heart filled with quiet anticipation.
Yesterday, the Peak Master had specifically instructed him to accompany her to Zhenyue Peak today, saying she had a great opportunity for him.
’Something the Peak Master herself called a "great opportunity" was bound to be incredibly beneficial for him.’
But as for what this opportunity was, Yang Jing didn’t have the slightest clue, which only made him more curious and eager.
Yang Jing’s steps were light, and before long, he reached the summit of Lingxi Peak.
The morning sun was just rising, its golden rays spilling across the stone slabs of Lingxi Plaza, bathing the entire square in a bright, clear light.
Many Inner Sect Disciples of Lingxi Peak had already gathered in the plaza. They were scattered in twos and threes; some were sparring, their fists whistling through the air.
Others sat in focused meditation, creating a scene of diligent cultivation.
Yang Jing strode across Lingxi Plaza, heading straight for Lingxi Hall up ahead.
Just then, his gaze swept over the west side of the plaza, where he happened to spot Lin Ziheng.
Lin Ziheng was standing in the middle of a group of disciples, talking animatedly about something, drawing occasional chuckles from the crowd.
Lin Ziheng noticed Yang Jing as well. He immediately stopped talking and walked over.
"Junior Brother Yang, it’s rare to see you up here at the summit today," Lin Ziheng said with a smile.
Yang Jing returned the smile and cupped his fist in greeting. "Senior Brother Lin, I’m heading to Lingxi Hall to see the Peak Master."
Upon hearing this, a hint of envy appeared in Lin Ziheng’s smile.
The Seven Vein Peak Masters of the Xuanzhen Sect were all top-tier experts in the region. They usually lived in seclusion, focused entirely on their cultivation. Even for an Inner Sect Disciple, getting to see a Peak Master was no easy task.
To be personally summoned by a Peak Master was, in itself, a tremendous honor.
"I see," Lin Ziheng said, his tone turning serious as he quickly stepped aside to clear the path. "You should hurry then. Don’t be late for important business."
Yang Jing nodded and smiled. "I’ll be on my way then, Senior Brother."
With that, he turned and continued toward Lingxi Hall.
Watching Yang Jing’s straight back recede into the distance, Lin Ziheng couldn’t help but smack his lips, his brow furrowing slightly as he mulled something over.
He felt that today’s Yang Jing was somehow different from before, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what had changed.
It was just a sense that his aura was calmer and more stable, and his features held a sharper, heroic air. He seemed much more striking than before.
Lin Ziheng rubbed his cheek and sighed in admiration. "Tsk, that kid isn’t just talented; his looks and bearing are top-notch, too. If I had what he has, I’d have no trouble finding a beautiful companion."
He shook his head, casting the irrelevant thoughts from his mind, and turned back to the group of disciples, resuming their earlier conversation with lively chatter.
...
「Meanwhile.」
Yang Jing had arrived outside Lingxi Hall.
Two disciples stood guard at the hall’s entrance, dressed in sharp, cyan martial attire, their posture erect.
Disciples assigned to guard duty outside the Peak Master’s hall were either Inner Sect Disciples or highly experienced outer sect disciples.
Yang Jing cupped his fist politely toward them. "Excuse me, Junior Brothers. Could you please announce that the disciple Yang Jing has come as summoned?"
Seeing it was Yang Jing, the guards’ expressions became respectful. One of them quickly said, "Please wait a moment, Senior Brother Yang. I’ll go announce you right away."
As soon as he finished speaking, the guard turned and hurried into Lingxi Hall.
In just a moment, the guard walked out of Lingxi Hall, his expression still respectful. He cupped his fist toward Yang Jing and said, "Senior Brother Yang, please wait. The Peak Master has been informed and will be out shortly."
Yang Jing nodded and waited quietly outside the hall.
After about the time it takes an incense stick to burn, the heavy, vermilion doors of Lingxi Hall slowly swung open. A tall, slender figure emerged—it was none other than the Peak Master of Lingxi Peak, Bai Bing.
Today, she was once again dressed in a simple white gown, its hem swaying gently with her steps, making her look like a Banished Immortal under the moonlight.
The morning sun fell upon her stunningly beautiful and serene face, tracing her delicate features. Her skin was as fair and translucent as jade. A detached coldness lingered in her eyes, which, rather than detracting, made her so breathtakingly beautiful that one dared not look at her directly.
Yang Jing quickly took a step forward and bowed deeply, his tone reverent. "Disciple Yang Jing pays his respects to the Peak Master."
Bai Bing’s gaze fell upon Yang Jing, looking him up and down.
She saw that he was dressed in a clean, white Inner Sect Disciple uniform, his hair neatly tied back. His features were sharp and handsome, and his aura was calm and condensed. He carried himself with the bearing of a Qi Eating Realm Cultivator, looking much more polished than usual.
’She nodded inwardly. If he looks like this when he accompanies me to Zhenyue Peak, I imagine the expression on Peak Master Zhenyue’s face will be quite a sight.’
"Hmm." Bai Bing nodded in satisfaction and said coolly, "Let’s go."
