Rise of The Demon General

Similar to when Mo Wang fought Thien Huo, Di Yu also struggled to approach Mo Wang. Every time she got near, he teleported away. Even when she used her breath attack, he easily escaped the blast zone. But unlike the time he fought Thien Huo, he was no longer passive.

The lower world rarely had clouds, but the sky crackled as if there were. A thick lightning bolt shot down from above and struck Di Yu squarely on her back.

"Urgh...!" Di Yu groaned. The lightning didn’t hurt her. The electricity couldn’t pass through her thick, nonconductive scales. It was the power to shred space accompanying the lightning that hurt her. The space above her had turned into a void. Her scales, which had been hit by the lightning strike, were shredded and thinner than they used to be.

She had been careless. She kept charging in a blind offense that Mo Wang managed to jump her like this.

"Aren’t you afraid of the noble dragons’ retaliation?" Di Yu asked. "Wasn’t that what you answered me whenever I asked you to kill me when I was in your prison?"

"Well, I figure that one dragon, ten dragons, what’s the difference? You are already hell-bent on killing me. I might as well risk it by having more noble dragons come for my life. At least, they would do it out of a misguided sense of camaraderie. In other words, they won’t be as passionate as you who has a personal vendetta against me. I choose to be rid of you and hide from those unmotivated dragons, rather than having you hunt me down."

"You are saying it as if I’m sure to lose to you," Di Yu uttered.

"I’m confident of that," Mo Wang said with a grin. His hand held a talisman, which he activated before throwing.

The talisman exploded midair. Following its explosion, the space it was headed to was ripped apart. The rip was thin but wide, making it look like a large blade.

Di Yu was more alert after the last hit. She zoomed to the side just as the Void Slash arrived. From the power she sensed from the ripped space, she knew she wouldn’t be unscathed if that space attack hit her. She was correct. This was a similar talisman to the one Mo Wang used to wound Thien Huo and draw his blood in his ambush.

"Hah! Let’s see how you dodge this!" Mo Wang exclaimed. His hands turned into a blur as he discharged lightning bolts one after another.

The barrage of lightning bolts covered a wide area. Di Yu had just made a speedy move to dodge the Void Slash. She couldn’t perform another turn so soon after. She resorted to coiling herself in a defensive posture and conjuring a black shield before her for protection.

The lightning bolts battered the black shield. Di Yu had channeled her full power on the shield, making it thicker than usual. Even so, it could only withstand a few lightning bolts. It was soon full of holes. The lightning bolts continued and battered her body.

When Mo Wang stopped his barrage, Di Yu’s body was full of wounds that leaked blood. The bolts failed to cause a deep wound, but the fact that they could cut through her scales showed how powerful Mo Wang’s Law of Space was.

"Say what. If you are willing to forget this grudge of yours and let bygones be bygones, I’m willing to make peace. What do you say?" Mo Wang asked. "I’ve shown you that I am superior to you. I have no reason to fear you. My peace offer to you is to your benefit. You should know that the reason I kept you imprisoned for so long was because of the Divine. Otherwise, I would have let you go after getting a little of your blood. If you want to blame someone, you should blame the divine. I’m willing to join forces with you to do that. Both the peace and the assistance against the divine are good offers. I suggest you take it."

"Superior to me...? Forget this grudge...? Do you think it is that easy? I will not be satisfied until I rip your heart out and eat it!!" Di Yu unleashed his black breath.

Mo Wang teleported away to dodge the breath attack. After reappearing, he held another talisman in his hand. "Sigh... This is why I hate someone who acts based on emotion. When he activated the talisman, it created a portal. The activated talisman did not turn to dust. He threw the talisman in Di Yu’s direction. Di Yu was about to move away, but she sensed a strong attack from above. A lightning strike came down from the sky.

Di Yu was more careful than before, so she dodged the thick lightning. As a result, she remained near her previous location. The arrived talisman burst into another portal. Just as the second portal was created, Mo Wang threw something into the first portal.

This something, which turned out to be a bottle, flew out of the second portal. Because it went through the portals, it was no different from being thrown at point-blank range. Di Yu couldn’t avoid it. The bottle broke after hitting her, splashing its contents on her body.

Mo Wang didn’t stop with only one bottle. He continued to throw more bottles into the first portal. Di Yu was as if being bombarded by a rain of bottles. Each one easily broke upon contact, soaking her body with yellow liquid that exuded a foul smell.

When the yellow liquid touched her open wounds, she felt a sharp, stinging sensation. She wriggled herself to get rid of the liquid, but the liquid appeared to be alive. They seeped into her open wounds and intruded into her body.

"Grahh...!! What is this foul liquid?" Di Yu roared. She could feel a burning sensation where the liquid had entered her.

"Hehe. That is my other masterpiece," Mo Wang replied. "The Crippling Demise Poison. It is the only poison I have managed to develop that can affect Devil Realm cultivators or Deity Beasts. It can’t kill you. Try as I may, I still cannot develop a poison strong enough to kill a Deity Beast such as you, but it is strong enough to torment and weaken you."

Di Yu could feel the poison spreading inside her. She felt her body turning stiff. It was difficult to move.

"Any last words?" Mo Wang asked. He revealed another talisman. It was a similar talisman to the one that produced the Void Slash.

A powerful shockwave erupted from Di Yu following her roar. Black fogs swirled around her. Her manes seemed to erupt into black flames. The black flames spread all over her elongated body. Her scales stood and lengthened.

Black lightning occasionally sparked out of the black flames enshrouding her body.

"Dragon awakening...? It won’t change a thing!" Mo Wang exclaimed. He threw the talisman in his hand. The talisman erupted midair and produced an energy that cut through space.

"ROOAARRRR...!!!"

Di Yu’s roar shook everything, including space itself. The void slash halted halfway. Where it stopped, the space trembled and collapsed into a black hole.

Mo Wang was astonished. This was the first time he encountered someone stopping an assault powered by his Law of Space.

Di Yu followed up with her breath attack. The black beam that came out of her mouth was five times the size of the previous one. Not only that, but the air near where the beam passed underwent significant erosion.

Mo Wang teleported away. When he reappeared, he was shocked to find that his robe’s left arm had been eroded. He could feel an invisible power gnawing at his left arm. He channeled his aether to reinforce his left arm, preventing the invisible power from eroding his arm.

Di Yu’s roar drew his attention back to her. She was charging toward him. She was much faster than before.

Mo Wang didn’t dare to be careless. He teleported away while discharging several lightning bolts. His lightning bolts hit her, but she didn’t slow. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that his lightning bolts halted before actually hitting her. The black flames around her generated a force field that could stop even his attacks, which the Law of Space powered.

"Tch!" Mo Wang uttered. He didn’t expect Di Yu’s dragon awakening to elevate her power to such an extent.

Amon, Yao Ai, and Krassazh observed the battle nearby.

"Be ready," Amon told his two companions. Di Yu seemed to have the advantage now. If he could hinder Mo Wang’s teleportation, Di Yu should be able to land a decisive blow.

To increase the success rate, Amon called Lin Li out.

When the multi-tailed fox appeared, he told her, "Lin, be ready to use your hallucination assault. We will..."

Amon stopped because Di Ying also came out. Her wounds had been mended. She was no longer bleeding. Large bandages covered her long, draconic body.
