Chapter 763: Jiang Family of Linzhou

"Family Head, but Yang Cheng’s identity is not ordinary. Should we get rid of him now to prevent future troubles?"

The middle-aged man beside him whispered a reminder.

"He’s just a brat who hasn’t fully grown up yet. Although he is indeed strong, his mind is not sharp. Besides, even if it comes to a fight, he can’t possibly be our match, and I also want to recruit him to serve me."

"What do you think Yang Feng’s expression will be like if he knows his beloved son is working for us?"

Gong Jian laughed triumphantly, raised his glass, and took a leisurely sip of red wine.

...

Linzhou.

Yang Cheng set off early, so by afternoon, he arrived at his destination and smoothly found the Jiang Family according to the address given by Elder Qin.

The Jiang Family is an old established lineage in Linzhou, the residence is ancient and grand, with two stone lions at the entrance, appearing quite imposing. However, this family is on a steady decline.

As soon as the two got out of the car, they noticed there were quite a few vehicles parked at the entrance of the Jiang Family today, and there were also two servants standing at the door warmly welcoming guests inside.

"Is the Jiang Family hosting a banquet today?"

Cheng Qiyue asked somewhat puzzled.

"Miss Jiang is gravely ill, the Jiang Family’s business is suffering, how could they possibly host a banquet at a time like this."

As he spoke, Yang Cheng had already stepped forward and said to the servants at the entrance: "We were referred by Elder Qin, here to treat Miss Jiang."

The servant glanced at the two with a fairly polite attitude: "Please wait a moment, I’ll go inside to inform them. May I ask what this gentleman’s name is?"

"I am Yang Cheng."

A short while later, a middle-aged steward came out, scrutinized Yang Cheng and Cheng Qiyue with a hint of surprise in his eyes, not expecting them to be so young. But since they were referred by Elder Qin, he had to show some respect.

"Please follow me, both of you." The steward led them inside, through several corridors, arriving at a quaint and spacious courtyard.

Before even entering the courtyard gate, they could hear the noisy chatter coming from inside.

Once entering the courtyard, Yang Cheng noticed there were over twenty people either sitting or standing, mostly elderly men in their fifties or sixties, with several young people beside them who seemed to be assistants or disciples.

Yang Cheng and Cheng Qiyue’s appearance immediately caught everyone’s attention.

"Please wait here for the time being."

The steward left a sentence and then walked away.

Cheng Qiyue furrowed her brow slightly, displeased: "What on earth is the Jiang Family doing? We came all this way and they just leave us here without even arranging a seat."

An elderly man with a goatee sized them up and sneered: "Where did these young ones come from? They’re not here to treat Miss Jiang, are they?"

Another chubby elderly man laughed along: "Elder Lan, that’s unfair. They might be here applying for a position as an assistant."

"Such a young lad isn’t qualified to be my assistant."

Elder Lan showed disdain. As a renowned doctor, his assistants were all top graduates, and his disciples were extremely gifted individuals who studied medicine from an early age.

Even so, he had only accepted three disciples and five assistants.

The group of elders laughed together, their eyes filled with contempt.

Yang Cheng remained indifferent, ignoring them, pulling Cheng Qiyue to sit in a nearby pavilion. He had no desire to argue with these people; if it weren’t for the Sun Essence Gold, he wouldn’t have bothered coming to the Jiang Family.

Cheng Qiyue sat quietly beside him, her cold beauty drawing frequent glances and quiet discussions from several young assistants.

"That girl is really pretty. If her medical skills are good, I’ll recommend her to join my teacher’s school."

"I’d like to recommend her too. With such a lovely junior disciple, it’d make work so much more motivating."

They exchanged smiles, looking at Cheng Qiyue with eyes full of possessiveness.

On the other side, seeing Yang Cheng unmoved, Elder Lan became even more spirited, asking loudly: "Kid, who were you trained under? How many years have you studied medicine?"

Yang Cheng lifted his gaze to him: "Self-taught for years, no mentorship to speak of."

"Self-taught?" Elder Lan laughed even louder, "Self-taught for a few years and you dare come to the Jiang Family? Do you even know how many renowned doctors have been stumped by Miss Jiang’s illness?"

"Which one of us hasn’t been practicing medicine for decades, and you, a young lad, come to join the fray?"

Yang Cheng calmly replied: "The level of medical skill isn’t determined by age. Some people can be doctors for decades and still amount to nothing more than a quack."

As he said this, he cast a glance at Elder Lan, clearly implying that he was the quack.

"You!" Elder Lan’s face darkened, gritting his teeth, "Such arrogance! I really want to see what you’re capable of!"

At this moment, a middle-aged man in his forties spoke to ease the tension: "Elder Lan, don’t be bothered with kids, since the Jiang Family invited so many experts, whoever can deliver results will lead. Maybe this young brother here has some skills."

Yang Cheng glanced at the man, he was the only one who spoke reasonable words in a crowd, yet his gaze was evidently still disdainful.

Unwilling to argue with them, he frowned impatiently and continued to rest with his eyes closed.

This cold attitude offended Chen Dingzhong, the man who spoke earlier. He furrowed his brow, suddenly stood up and asked, "Looking at your young age, why did the Jiang Family invite you to treat Miss Jiang?"

"I was recommended by Elder Qin, naturally, the Jiang Family trusts Elder Qin."

Yang Cheng remained unfazed by their mocking gazes, his tone quite steady.

"Elder Qin?"

Chen Dingzhong frowned slightly, asking, "Which Elder Qin?"

"Elder Qin from Peach Blossom County, of the Antique Association."

As soon as he finished, Elder Lan jumped in: "Antique Association? Referred by someone into antiques? Kid, are you here to fool around?"

The others also laughed, their gazes turning even more disdainful.

Chen Dingzhong’s brows furrowed even tighter: "Young brother, Miss Jiang’s illness is not ordinary. We are all renowned doctors from various regions; you have neither a masterful mentorship nor a renowned recommendation. What qualifies you to stand here?"

Just as he finished speaking, Elder Lan immediately chimed in: "This kind of person is just here to muddy the waters. Why not just kick him out to save us from wasting time."

"Yes, kick him out!"

The most reputable doctors began to speak, and the others immediately followed suit.

Then Elder Lan ordered the nearby guards to come forth and instructed: "This guy is just here to cause trouble. Get him out to save us from delaying the treatment for Miss Jiang."

The two bodyguards knew Elder Lan was an esteemed doctor and dared not offend him, so they rushed forward, one on each side, trying to lift Yang Cheng by the arms to carry him out.

Soon, they realized something was wrong. No matter how hard they tried, Yang Cheng remained motionless, as if nailed to the ground.

The two exchanged a glance, exerted even more force, their faces turning red, yet Yang Cheng remained motionless.

"What’s going on?"

Elder Lan frowned with displeasure; these two bodyguards seemed too weak. Then he waved his hand for his disciples and assistants to come and help.
