Chapter 674: The Source of the Poison Found
Before long, Yang Cheng and Kong Lingwen arrived at the Kong Family’s five-star hotel.
The place had already been sealed off, they couldn’t go in through the main entrance, so they had no choice but to climb in through a window.
The first-floor windows were all barred, so Yang Cheng leaped up and easily climbed to the second floor. A strand of True Qi shot from his fingertips, and the locked window was effortlessly popped open.
"You’ve gone up, what about me? I can’t climb up there."
Lin Wen called out, a bit helpless.
"You can ride on my shoulders."
Yang Cheng jumped down from the second floor, patted his own shoulder, then bent over.
Lin Wen swung her shapely legs, sat on his shoulders, and only then did he straighten up.
"No, still can’t reach."
Lin Wen stretched out a hand to grab the window ledge, but there was nowhere to brace herself, and her arm strength was too weak; she just couldn’t climb up.
Her body was very soft and light, so Yang Cheng simply used his hands to support her butt, giving a strong lift upward.
"Ah!"
Lin Wen let out a startled cry as her body shot up a good distance. She hurriedly scrambled with both hands and feet, and successfully clambered in through the window.
Her cheeks were flushed red; she shot Yang Cheng a slightly shy glare. Just now he had suddenly hoisted her up, and that big hand had pressed against the most delicate place between her thighs.
Yang Cheng didn’t notice at all. In just a couple of moves he climbed up himself and jumped in through the window.
He swept his gaze around and warned, "According to the information Uncle Kong gave us, this is the room where the guest caught the skin disease. Don’t touch anything yet, let me check first."
"Okay."
Lin Wen nodded and stood where she was, not daring to move around.
Yang Cheng’s mind stirred, and all the floating bacteria and viruses in the air surfaced before his eyes. There were indeed a lot of bacteria in the room; just a few breaths and they were already entering the body.
He didn’t care about this type of virus at all, but Lin Wen couldn’t handle it. He immediately circulated his Cultivation Technique, using True Qi to form a protective shield around her.
Watching his movements, Lin Wen asked with a puzzled look, "What are you doing?"
"The room’s full of viruses. I used True Qi to protect you, so you don’t have to worry about being infected."
Just as Yang Cheng finished speaking, he slowly raised his head and spotted something odd.
A five-star hotel doesn’t use ordinary air conditioners but a five-constant system, and the viruses were all gathering at the air outlet.
He condensed a ball of True Qi in his palm and struck the air vent. The cover shattered at once, and a tea-bag-like thing fell out from inside. The viruses were emanating from that.
"Step back a few paces."
Yang Cheng gestured with a wave. Lin Wen immediately backed away, and only then did he unfold the outer paper layer. Inside was a piece of pitch-black meat.
His pupils contracted, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"Corpse Poison!"
"What?"
Lin Wen cried out in shock, her eyes involuntarily widening.
The two of them had just left Hidden Cloud Village, so of course she remembered where the Corpse Poison came from. Back then, when Yang Cheng went up the mountain, he was attacked by some villain and hit with Corpse Poison, nearly losing his life.
She hadn’t expected that even after they left Hidden Cloud Village, they would run into Corpse Poison again.
"This Corpse Poison isn’t the same as Lai Zhongyao’s. It’s weaker. Otherwise, the people who stayed in this room would’ve died long ago, they wouldn’t have lasted long enough to make it to the hospital."
Yang Cheng’s brows knitted tight. He hadn’t expected Cao Ruibin to have contact with someone who cultivates Corpse Poison. Looks like this guy really shouldn’t be underestimated, nor should the Cao Family.
"Can you neutralize this kind of Corpse Poison?"
Lin Wen asked.
"I can, but it’s a bit troublesome. They say a lot of people caught skin diseases, so we have to treat the severe cases first. And if their infection is serious, they’ll still need to apply Cooling Scar Cream afterward to remove the scars on their bodies."
Yang Cheng’s expression grew solemn. It seemed he’d be busy at the hospital the entire day tomorrow.
"It’s fine. Just knowing there’s a way to treat it is already great. Tell me what medicinal ingredients you need—I’ll have people get them ready now. Then we’ll go home to rest and head to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning."
Lin Wen let out a breath of relief. She was already satisfied. She’d been worried that if the skin disease worsened and someone died, the Kong Family would never recover.
"We can’t leave yet. Since most of the guests who stayed that day got infected, that means the other rooms have the same kind of toxin source. I think you should have your dad call the police first, at least to prove that someone deliberately poisoned the place."
Yang Cheng figured Cao Ruibin definitely wanted to come deal with the evidence, but since these were all toxin sources, he likely wouldn’t dare touch them.
Plus, someone had previously posed as a maintenance technician to enter each room and plant the toxin sources. Now that the hotel’s been sealed, they can’t openly get inside anymore, so the toxin sources are still sitting where they were.
"Okay, I’ll call my dad right now. But it’s not really appropriate for us to stay here, is it?"
Lin Wen looked at him and asked.
"Of course we’re leaving. Give me the phone, I’ll talk to Uncle Kong."
Yang Cheng took the phone from Lin Wen’s hand and dialed Kong Jingshan.
"Xiaochen, how is it? Have you two found anything?"
Ever since his return this time, Kong Jingshan’s way of addressing him had become much more affectionate—he directly called him "Xiaochen," basically treating him like a son-in-law.
"Uncle Kong, I’ve found the toxin source at the room’s air outlet and identified what toxin it is. Call the police now and say you invited a miracle doctor who confirmed that the patients were all poisoned, so this is a malicious poisoning case and the police need to step in and investigate."
"The miracle doctor’s conclusion is that the toxin was inhaled, so they need to search all the room vents. The toxicity of this stuff is extremely strong; have them wear proper gas masks."
When he finished, Kong Jingshan finally felt his heart settle back into his chest.
Sure enough, Yang Cheng was capable—he’d just come back and already helped him track down the toxin source. Once they solved this, they could counterattack far more effectively.
After hanging up, Kong Jingshan called the police. The Kong Family had a century-old foundation in Zhonghai and some connections, so with just one phone call, people immediately rushed to the hotel to investigate.
Meanwhile, Yang Cheng and Lin Wen jumped down from the second floor and hid not far away, watching the hotel.
He stirred his mind and activated his X-ray Vision; the scenes inside the hotel were laid bare before him.
"Captain, we’ve found this in the air outlet. It’s very likely the toxin source."
A police officer put the toxin source into an evidence bag and handed it to the captain beside him.
Next, they focused on searching the air outlets in every room. Sure enough, they found the same thing inside, and hurried to bag and seal them.
"Everything’s collected. These are all evidence; take them back to the lab for testing."
The lead officer gave an instruction, and the group began to pull out.
Yang Cheng watched for a while. From their conversation, they didn’t seem to be Cao Ruibin’s people. Whether they could help the Kong Family clear their name would depend on tomorrow’s test results.
"Let’s go. We need to buy medicinal ingredients first. We have to get the decoctions ready tonight."
With that, he pulled Lin Wen into the car.
