Chapter 735: Relationship Issues
If it were any other day, Yang Cheng wouldn’t be so impulsive as to hit Gong Yu, but today he was in a bad mood, and this guy just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He nodded, placed the bottle on the table, and sat down on the sofa.
"Disappear from my sight immediately, or you’ll bear the consequences."
After he finished speaking, he looked coldly at the few spoiled rich kids. They were already injured, their voices weak, and they hurriedly struggled to get up from the floor and went over to check on Gong Yu.
"Young Master Gong, you’re seriously injured. We’ll take you to the hospital."
Bleeding from their heads, they forced themselves to help Gong Yu up and quickly headed toward the door.
Gong Yu paused his steps, turned back with a venomous look at Yang Cheng, and said coldly, "Yang Cheng, just you wait, today’s incident isn’t over!"
Yang Cheng was completely unconcerned about his threat. Although the Gong Family was influential in Zhonghai, Patriarch Gong was a reasonable man and probably wouldn’t let this son run amok.
The floor was a mess, and the bar staff immediately started to clean up the glass shards and bloodstains on the ground.
Wang Rui sat back down across from Yang Cheng, looking apologetic, "I’m sorry, Dr. Yang, it’s my fault for getting you involved with Young Master Gong. You’re sure to be in trouble now. Why don’t you come abroad with me to lay low for a while?"
"I have my own matters to attend to; I won’t be going abroad for now. If he wants to make trouble for me, he can go ahead. I don’t care."
"You don’t need to blame yourself. Even if it were another girl, I would still have stepped in to help."
Yang Cheng spoke indifferently, continuing to drink, one glass after another.
"Thank you, Dr. Yang. Let me toast to you."
Wang Rui immediately poured herself a drink and raised her glass toward him.
"You don’t drink, do you? You probably shouldn’t; it’s not safe at night."
Yang Cheng waved his hand, glanced at her, and strangely felt she resembled Kong Lingwen with her delicate face and sexy, fiery figure.
"I can make an exception tonight, and with you protecting me, I have nothing to worry about."
Wang Rui smiled slightly and downed her drink in one go, the strong liquor making her stick out her tongue in reaction to the spiciness.
Soon after, the two began drinking together. Yang Cheng found it nice to have someone to drink with him—someone to chat with and kill some time.
"Yang Cheng, we’re friends now, right? Can you tell me why you’re sitting here drinking alone tonight?"
Wang Rui asked curiously, leaning forward slightly, revealing a significant portion of her chest, looking even more alluring.
Yang Cheng wasn’t interested in admiring the beauty in front of him; his heart was full of bitterness. Not knowing what to say, he tilted his head back and drank another glass.
"A bit of conflict with my girlfriend."
He answered ambiguously, but Wang Rui had already conjured up a narrative of a tortured romance in her mind.
"That’s all? Couples fighting is so normal. You don’t need to be so upset; think of a way to make it up to her."
Wang Rui spoke indifferently, having dated quite a few boyfriends herself and feeling quite experienced.
"It’s not something that can be solved by just making up."
Yang Cheng smiled bitterly. Usually, if Kong Lingwen was angry, he would just drag her to bed for some deep communication, and they’d be fine again. But this time was different; she was still mourning her father’s death.
"Your girlfriend is Kong Lingwen, right?"
Wang Rui asked.
Seeing Yang Cheng nod, she continued, "I heard that Mr. Kong Jingshan passed away. She must be very fragile right now; she needs your support more than ever. Once you help her through the grief, no problem will be insurmountable."
"In matters of the heart, you can trust me. I’ve had many boyfriends, and every time we broke up, they felt it was their fault for not keeping me."
Yang Cheng chuckled, "You could be a relationship expert, teaching everyone how to handle men."
"You’ve got a point; I should start a class. I’m sure many women would sign up!"
Wang Rui laughed, her smile dazzling and every movement exuding sensuality.
"The first time I saw you, I thought you were one of those players who’d toy with a girl’s emotions, then kick her aside. But I guess I was wrong. I didn’t expect you’d be drinking here over a relationship problem."
"Do I really look like a playboy?"
Yang Cheng touched his face, thinking of himself as a sunny, cheerful guy.
Though he had many women around him, he genuinely cared for each one, wholeheartedly.
"Not really; it’s just that my cousin Qian Qian really likes you and said she would try to win you over once you broke up. But she tried inviting you to dinner, and you ignored her."
Wang Rui said helplessly, remembering how Tao Qianqian was heartbroken and cried in front of her last time.
"You’re not entirely wrong. I’m a bit of a player. There are not only Kong Lingwen but others around me, so I refused Tao Qianqian for her own good."
"She’s still young, and her interest in me is probably just a passing fancy. If she got involved with me easily, she might regret it later."
Yang Cheng always thought of Tao Qianqian as a little sister. When he learned she had feelings for him, he became eager to keep his distance.
"Whether she regrets it or not is her choice. At this moment, she wants to be with you. You might as well make things clear to her. If she doesn’t mind, then you two can date."
Wang Rui, having returned from abroad, was more open about relationships. After all, dating hadn’t reached the point of marriage; as long as both were happy, that was enough.
"I finally understand; you’re here to talk on behalf of Tao Qianqian."
It was only now that Yang Cheng, belatedly, realized and looked at Wang Rui, a bit speechless.
Wang Rui smiled apologetically, "I just don’t want to see her so sad. She’s stubborn and once she sets her mind on someone, she won’t easily let go."
"I’ll think about it."
Yang Cheng sighed, clinking his glass with Wang Rui’s.
Before long, the bottles on the table were empty. Wang Rui wasn’t a heavy drinker; her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were dazed as she grabbed Yang Cheng’s arm.
"Yang Cheng, I’m a bit drunk. Can you take me home first?"
She didn’t trust anyone else to see her home, but she felt she could trust Yang Cheng, and even if something happened, she wouldn’t be losing out.
Most of the drinking was done by Yang Cheng. Wanting to drink away his troubles, he hadn’t used True Qi to dispel the alcohol, and now his head was spinning.
He stood up and helped Wang Rui up, striding toward the door.
Many eyes were on them, their expressions meaningful.
After they left, someone laughed and said, "Who would’ve thought so many rich heirs pursued Wang Rui, and she turned them all down. But now she leaves with this guy."
