Episode 13: After Astia's Battle

"That's the third one."

Erkühl muttered as he saw his own soldiers slaying into the open walls.

Erkühl had steadily dropped every city near the border between the Lemurian Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaron.

The only cities targeted by the attack are those close to the border and never invade deep.

"Your Majesty, do you not aspire to the capital of the Kingdom of Bulgarons?

Carolina asked.

Carolina thought Erkühl was about to invade and strike deep into the kingdom of Bulgaron, but Erkühl's military attacks were very passive.

"We're just moving the capital further north where we dropped it, the guys. It's futile. Border demarcation is more important than that."

Erkühr did not intend to invade deep into the kingdom of Bulgaron.

Because the risks are high and the benefits are small.

It was more important for the Lemurian Empire to draw a favourable border line than that.

"I take back all the cities I lost in my predecessor's time. Stabilize the border line again on it"

Basically, a border line is drawn by mountains and rivers.

The Bulgaron kingdom can easily penetrate the territory of the Lemurian Empire because it has a dominion, even outward (from Lemurian point of view, inward) than natural borders such as mountains and rivers.

Elquille is plotting to push it up so that it doesn't break into the country easily.

"Once we get some city, we're going to build the Great Wall and connect it like a few beads. That way they won't be able to come in on this side that easily anymore."

"Sounds like a lot of money."

"That's what security is."

Elquille also wants to kick the Bulgarians out of the land of the Bulgarons, to be honest.

That way we can make the Histele River the border again.

The Histel River is one of the great rivers in the western continent, and it used to be a border line separating the Lemurian Empire from the barbarian world.

Now completely abandoned, it flows through the realm of the Bulgaron kingdom.

I don't even have to bother to build the Great Wall or anything if it's a big river like the Histele...

I can't help but make a strong contract for what I don't have.

"Your Majesty!! This is a report from the scout unit!! The Bulgaron Royal Army is approaching! That number is approximately 90,000!!

"Kyu, 90,000..."

Carolina took a breath.

That number is too huge.

Erkühl, on the other hand, says in a manner that is not particularly moving.

"I thought 100,000 would come. Outreach, that's not much. Looks like you still have a passive family."

If we break into the depths of the kingdom of Bulgaron, all the families of the kingdom of Bulgaron will unite to challenge Lemuria to battle.

but the family of the Bulgaron kingdom does not unite to the extent that it was originally recaptured of the territory of the Lemurian Empire.

Because it has nothing to do with anything from the clans that make the northern part of the Bulgaron kingdom their dominant domain.

"You mean you were originally going to pull deep into it, but you came rushing to attack me? Good, I'll pay you back."

Erkühr laughed invincibly.

Erkühl first made trenches dig around the walls, placing one battalion of Halbad troops in front of the castle gates, east, west and north.

And after raising all the archers above the walls, he kept the rest of the soldiers waiting inside the walls.

Confirming that the Bulgaron kingdom had laid out in front of the western castle gate, Erkühl left the Harvard troops in the north-east intact, placing all the remaining soldiers in front of the western gate.

"How many enemies have 10,000 infantry and 80,000 cavalry?"

Erkühl said when he saw the soldiers of the kingdom of Bulgaron from above the walls.

The Bulgaron Kingdom is a nomadic country, but it doesn't mean it doesn't operate infantry.

Sometimes we hire mercenaries because we really need infantry when attacking the castle, and sometimes we get off the cavalry and fight.

"But as long as I'm jealous of 80,000 cavalry,

The number of cavalry troops that can be mobilized at once is precisely 100,000, given the national power of the most Bulgarian kingdom.

If we lose this 80,000, the Bulgaron Kingdom will be unable to take military action for decades to come.

It is obviously the Bulgaron Kingdom that is being pushed.

"It would be helpful if you would agree to the harmony."

The battle of Astia began.

A week passed after the battle between the Lemurian Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgarons, the so-called Battle of Astia, began.

The war situation was dominated by the Lemurian Empire, and the Bulgaron Kingdom was unable to break through the defensive positions of the Lemurian Empire.

A wall of pikes created by the Lemurian infantry inhibits the cavalry's assault as trenches restrict the cavalry's movement.

Furthermore, the arrows released by the Lemurian archers from above the walls are shot unilaterally because they reach farther than the arrows released from the horses by the Bulgaron light cavalry.

And from time to time, for the Lemurian cavalry to strike back...

Less sacrifices were made in the Bulgaron Kingdom.

"I'm sorry, but our Territorial family will let you go, King Bulgaron."

Mr Territel's chief told that to King Bulgaron, the commander-in-chief.

Sometimes it was a defensive war, a chief of the Territorial clan who, for once, provided a small number of soldiers as brother-in-law, but he no longer intended to serve any further brother-in-law.

The Teritel family has the northern part of the Bulgaron kingdom as its domain, its territory, and has no rights whatsoever in the city that King Bulgaron is about to take back.

In addition, contributions from the Lemurian Empire were hardly distributed to the Teritel clan.

Lemuria will win from them, but the Kotormian clan will win, but there will be no profit or loss either way.

Hence Territel's attempt to escape this barren battle...

It is a natural story when taken for granted.

"I won't stop... but if I may, I'd like you to be cautious about disturbing harmony like that."

King Bulgaron complained bitterly.

Where the Teritel clan, which originally brought only a small number of soldiers, has fallen out, there has been no significant change in its power.

but when the Teritel clan with the third force falls out, a great deal of upset runs across the army.

There was a risk that one clan after another would fall out of the front so that if they were bad, their teeth would fall out.

"That's this line, King Bulgaron. More than a majority of the clan chiefs don't want a fight. It is you who are disturbing the harmony."

Mr Territel's chief said uncomfortably.

The main warriors, mainly the Kotormian and Chromium families, are certainly the majority of the Bulgarian kingdom on the population, but they are a minority in view of the aspect of the number of families.

Whatever the weak clan, it is the same "one" clan as the Kotormian clan in number.

"It was decided at the meeting.... Running away? Territel, my family is very weak."

It was the chief of the Crom who said so.

It was a provocative word to shelter King Bulgaron as the main warrior and prevent the departure of the Teritel clan from the front.

Besides, in large part, Mr Territel's chief said with his nose ringing.

"Then the Chromium clan is a great idiot. I didn't mean to be able to win in this situation where sheep poke at the bottom and don't even have a village to plunder around and don't even remember the horse leaves. Bravery and recklessness are different."

Nomads can maintain a large number of horses because they live scattered over vast areas.

But it is self-evident that if 80,000 (or more than 100,000, including substitute horses) horses are assembled in such a narrow area, the meadow grass will be eaten up in no time, and the leaves will be exhausted as well.

The nomadic barracks system assumes constant movement around.

By pillaging and constantly moving sheep and horses, we are free to deploy our troops.

I can't handle a situation like staying in one place for a week.

"Didn't you draw him inside and knock him out in the first place? About a few dozen kilometers from the border of the Lemurian Empire, where is it within? It must be your strategic mistake."

Beat Remlia for breaking into the depths.

That is the strategy of the Kingdom of Bulgarons, and there is no better chance of winning than it broke.

That is what Mr Territel's chief insisted.

And he turns back his heel and says:

"I don't want you to feel bad. We Territorials can't afford to wipe our asses richer than ourselves."

Then, within a week, one after the other, each clan left the front.

Finally, the clan chiefs of the pro-Cotrumia chromium clan also want to return...

King Bulgaron, who deemed it impossible to continue any further fighting, decided to withdraw.

The battle of Astia ended in the victory of Lemuria.

"You're in trouble."

King Bulgaron had his head.

Since the Battle of Astia, the Lemurian army has gained even more momentum to attack the cities one after the other.

Tax revenues rising from farmers are an important source of income for the Kotormian family.

If we do not defeat Lemuria somehow, the power of the Kotormia clan will fall even further.

But many of them withdrew, beginning with the Territorial clan.

You can't beat Lemuria with less rubbing force.

"I beg your pardon, my king"

"Chief Krom."

It was the Crom chief who came into King Bulgaron's yurt.

Behind it follows Alicia Chrome, the only daughter of a clan chief.

"From Alicia, she says there's a way to open it. Would you mind listening?

"Initiatives?... Hmm, if you just ask"

King Bulgaron nodded with the thought of grabbing the straw as well.

Alicia took a step forward and said hello before talking about her measures.

I heard that. King Bulgaron thought for a while before...

"All right, that would be good. Prepare a selection of hundreds. … but be sure to succeed. If anything fails..."

"I know, I will make amends with death."

Alicia would later regret this time… that is, presenting King Bulgaron with an opening measure, transferring it to execution, and seeing Elquille sweetly.
