Lesson 5: Slavery

"I don't think slavery is a good idea!

At one point, Elquille abruptly said that.

I heard that. Renalier silently puts his hand on Elquille's forehead.

"... no fever"

"What do you think you are about people?

Elquille grabbed Renalier's hand.

"Suddenly His Majesty said it wasn't a pattern."

"Should I not wake up to the idea of human rights?

"'Cause always to me, you bitch slave! You're saying."

"That's it, this is this"

Elquille flaunted her shoulders.

It's the Nori on the spot.

"Do we abolish slavery?

"No, I don't mean that. I don't know if it's going to be abolished in the first place, but it's not going to affect me very much."

Once upon a time, the Lemurian Empire had slavery.

And it still exists.

but even the same slavery is completely different from the old and the present.

The slaves of the great old were exactly consumables, like disposable Cairo.

Polar parts, beautiful appearances, upbringing, slaves with a piece of art were cherished and lived wealthier than poor civilians...

It is truly a slave who lives in a city of about one percent, a polar part.

Ninety-nine percent are put to work until they die on large farms or mines.

When you die, you just have to buy a new one.

At the time, slaves were available in the war, so they could easily be bought.

Not now.

There is indeed a war going on, and in fact Erkühl has waged many wars against foreign countries...

There is no slave gained in that war.

That should be it, too.

Elquille forbids pillaging.

You even forbid the looting of things, but you can't possibly loot people or anything.

Back in the day, the peripheral countries of the Lemurian Empire were almost all barbarians, without even a decent nation.

I therefore had no problem grabbing people or enslaving them from tribe to tribe.

But now the surrounding countries form the body of the country, even in turn.

Scratching people can also be a diplomatic issue, and we can't afford to win a war while grabbing people in the first place.

For that reason, the value of slavery is high in the Lemurian Empire today.

It is very inefficient to use and crush them in mines and farms because they cannot use and crush highly valuable slaves.

Large land farm systems using slaves still exist, but it is difficult to say mainstream.

Homemade or small-scale farming is more common.

Because it's more efficient.

"Well I don't care if I try to free them...... the impact on the imperial economy is low. Then it would be better not to liberate the slaves, like buying nobles' objections."

"Then why did you suddenly speak of slavery?

It is a natural question.

Erkühr answers about it.

"I thought I'd make some frameworks. The slave trade draws a line from other trade and commerce in that goods are people. You can't just leave it like that."

"Well sure. As things stand, it may not be a good idea to be traded as well as ordinary goods. … it's a kind of population movement."

Renalier snorted cozily, agreeing with Erkühl.

This is still the queen of one country.

"First of all, a ban on enslavement of the Lemurian subjects, except criminals, something like that, I guess"

"... do you also ban debt slavery?

"Oh. Nia said it was confusing. It's hard to tell what kind of illegal slave you've been forced to enslave."

Grabbing people is a crime that exists everywhere, east and west, ancient times.

Because it makes money.

Especially because children are easy to grab, they are targeted.

Leaving this alone in the wild makes me a bandit's feeder, on top of worsening security.

Therefore, Nia is focusing her investigation on this man-made relationship...

This is the hard part.

It is difficult to distinguish between formal slaves and those who have been enslaved because of their captivity.

"But if you forbid the enslavement of your subjects in the first place, it doesn't matter. We can smash it from one end."

"Lenders seem to be in trouble, though."

"It's worse to lend it to someone who doesn't seem to be able to pay it back in the first place"

Let's think about the other person's ability to repay and lend it, that is.

"In some cases, there are people who lend you an amount you can't give back to a slave. Eradicate the bad guys of that nature"

Social insecurity adversely affects politics and the economy.

You should get rid of those grey things as much as possible.

Next thing you know, it's a slave export ban.

"... there are slaves to be exported from the Lemurian Empire?

Even if the Lemurian Empire subjects are enslaved, that slave will not usually go outside.

Because the buyers are subjects of the same Lemurian Empire.

"It's not normal, but there's actually only one thing... this. Only produced in the Lemurian Empire, precious slaves."

"... long-eared (elves)?"

"Correct."

Many foreigners want a long-eared family (elves).

It is a dream for men from the North and the West to welcome long-eared (elf) women to their wives.

It's just not that easy to get as a wife.

I will therefore purchase it as a slave.

"Most of all... at the stage when I forbade the enslavement of the Lemurian subjects, I forbade the export of the essentially long-eared people (elves)... just in case. regulate people flowing outside"

There is also the prospect that if they cannot be exported, there will be less crowding in the first place.

Whether it's smuggling or not...

This is what I'd expect from Nia's hard work.

"And a limited slave market. This is absolute."

"I know that. Free trade is impossible to control."

Renalier nodded yeah.

If the location is limited, slaves can be managed in bulk.

All other deals made elsewhere are illegal, which means you just have to crush the house.

"And I intend to grant subordination to the children of slaves"

"... even to the children of slaves and slaves?

"I wish I had been born in the Lemurian Empire."

Elquille nodded.

"Why is that?

"Back to the beginning, I'm passive for slavery in the first place. I want to lose it eventually."

I can't force you to proceed...

and Elquille added.

"Is it also a fever, after all?

"All right, I'll give you a reason to reassure you.... I can't take taxes from slaves. That's everything."

"I see, convincing"

Regardless, there exists a slave tax on slave owners.

but there is no tax on slaves themselves.

Free the slaves, let them work freely, and squeeze taxes from it will increase the country's income.

"And a creature called slavery isn't very nice in the first place. My husband is the one they pledge allegiance to, not me. This is no good... I am the only master of this country (Dominus). Everything else is a slave."

"I'm always horrified with His Majesty."

Renalier with a reassuring look on her heart.

Elquille slaps such a Renalier in the head.

"Ouch."

"You're rude enough."

"If you're conscious, you can cure it."

"You think it'll heal?

"I don't think so"

Poca!

"Ouch...... violent opposition"

Renalier holds his head.

Though Erkühr hasn't really hit him either.

"And I intend to abolish the death penalty system."

"Again..."

"I'm serious, huh?

Elquille flaunted her shoulders.

"Why?

"I'm a devout Messiah. Don't you think we should give any sinner a chance to repent? And look, even if you kill a sinner, you'll never get your lost life back."

"Hmm."

Renalier narrowed her eyes.

"So let's give sinners a wonderful labor, och?

"Oh. I'm going to send it to the fucking cold Taurica Peninsula to crush it"

That's right. Lunarier has figured out Elkür's pretense, too, and this time he showed it by lightly hitting it.

"Well, that's it, because they're unwilling to use it completely. If I do my job properly, if I survive, I'm thinking about doing the land. It's better to collect taxes."

"I don't know how much we can survive, but for what it's worth there's hope, when it comes to humanity... is it humanitarian?

Renalier laughed bitterly.

Sure, humans, when they die, that's where it ends.

It is not for the country to say that it would be better for the country to send them to pioneering land to work rather than to impose the death penalty, and eventually reintegrate them into society and pay taxes.

Most……

The last thing that was in Pandora's box was hope.

Suffering is over there for better or worse if you die, but the pain of being run is what it deserves, with the carrot of hope hanging.

Which is happiness for sinners could not be judged by Renalier.

"Luna."

"Hmm? What... Hmm!

Suddenly Erkür blocked Renalier's lips with his own.

Soon the tongue enters Renalier's mouth, ravaging its soft mucous membrane.

I can't even be forced into it with strong arm strength to run away and get violent.

"... ahhh, puha, hey, what do you do?

black-and-white his eyes, Renalier asked.

Erkühr answers with a soaked face.

"Hmm? Do you have permission for me to do something to a slave?

"... you, at all, are no longer"

Renalier raises an eyebrow.

Nevertheless, I immediately deposited my weight with Elquille as though it didn't seem to be full.

"Put your hands on the wall there"

"... Yes"
