Chapter 272: MRS Fall Party!

On the fourth week of November, the second day after Black Friday, the MRS Fall Meeting was held as scheduled.

Because it was invited to participate, the ark enjoyed a VIP treatment, and after disembarking from the plane, it boarded a shuttle bus and arrived at a five-star hotel arranged by the organizer.

Generally, MRS meetings last at least a week, occasionally to the tenth day.

As for this one, the situation is a little different.

As the lithium-crystal problem is properly resolved, the paper on lithium battery-related concepts presents well blow-out growth over this period, as well as the number of papers with photovoltaic materials and new energy-linked increases to varying degrees.

Many of the research institutes that had already made reports at the Spring Meeting had even made cold changes to what had previously been reported and rushed out a paper to apply for an oral presentation, so that the organizers had to extend the meeting to twelve days.

As for the Ark debriefing, it was scheduled for the morning of the following day.

He had just arrived in Boston, and there were no special arrangements today, so he planned to make a detour around here. By the way, listen to a few briefings and get familiar with the style of reporting here.

Put your luggage by the bed, go to the bathroom and wash your face, then go downstairs to the venue center not far from the hotel.

Even after attending a number of debriefing sessions, seeing an MRS autumn canoe with a true face, I couldn't help but feel emotional.

In terms of size, MRS meetings are too big, and meetings with the mathematics community are simply not on a scale.

Dozens of venues, hundreds of topics, and thousands or even tens of thousands of conference participants.

By this time of year, hotels and hotels near the venue are unusually hot. Because most people attend at their own expense, or even just to have a fun time, it is obviously impossible for this part of the host to be responsible for resolving accommodation.

Formally, the pattern of the MRS conference is no different from the academic conference held by the Federal Institute of Mathematics in Princeton.

Each venue is divided into oral presentations and poster presentations.

The former are commonly done by bulls, with many high-quality papers and reports. This part is not only the essence of the debriefing, but also the “battlefield” of MIT, Harvard, Cornell and other strong schools.

Especially when it comes to hot and cutting-edge areas, discussions are usually extraordinarily “intense”, and don't be surprised if a physical conflict occurs.

As for the latter, the threshold is relatively low, and a poster booth on the corresponding topic is usually available as long as the paper for the contribution meeting is available and even if the opportunity for an oral report is not available.

However, it is precisely for this reason that this relatively mixed fish dragon has a high calf but lacks opportunities, as well as the legendary "PPT entrepreneur”. Probably because of the low level of attention and enthusiasm when discussing issues, but generally restraint.

Through the ark at the center of the venue, I looked around and found that everyone's behavior was very friendly at present. Three, three, two, two, walked together, some took pictures, some said it was funny...

In short, it is not as exaggerated as Professor Chirick describes it.

Seeing this scene, the ark was relieved.

When he first got off the plane, he was still hesitant to buy a handy guy to defend himself, but now his own considerations were simply superfluous.

But for the sake of safety, he carried the “watch” that the system rewarded him with.

Even if probability doesn't work.

……

We wandered around the poster display area for a while and the ark happened to be at a lithium battery themed venue.

A report will be in progress as he passes through the first reporting room.

Looking at the scholarly poster posted on the doorstep, he discovered that the contents were the legendary lithium air battery, and a glimmer of interest appeared in his eyes.

Seeing as if the debriefing hadn't started much longer, the professor on stage was still preparing PPT, and the ark walked through the back door into the debriefing hall, looking for a seat in the back row, ready to listen.

Strictly speaking, the concept of a series of lithium batteries, including lithium air batteries, is not entirely the subject of the material field.

But just like the PV concept, when the main problem with a major proposition is material, it naturally becomes a material proposition, even if it looks more like a new energy problem.

Soon the report will begin.

Standing on the podium is a well-groomed professor, about fifties old.

Look at the text on the PPT cover, his name is Sarott, from Cornell University.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor to be here. It is well known that just recently, Professor Ark from Princeton University, published a paper on modified PDMS film materials in Natural Chemistry, overcame the most critical challenge of lithium battery technology! ”

“If it was a spring party six months ago, you might be nosy about the concept of a lithium air battery. But now we must admit that a new era has come! ”

Standing on the stage, Professor Salot spoke of frowning, and in less than a moment, the white board next to him was filled with chemical reactions and seemingly reliable data.

Some listen to concentrate, but others snort.

Sitting in the back row of the room, Professor Claire of Columbia University held his arms and, having endured the questioning session, finally couldn't bear to say it in a sarcastic tone.

“How do you solve the reaction of lithium anode and nitrogen in the air? And water vapor? Even the cleaners in our lab know how lively lithium is. With all due respect, in my opinion, you don't do batteries, you do rockets. ”

He does lithium-sulfur batteries, which are the mainstay of lithium-sulfur battery research today. Although the lithium-sulfur battery also has a number of black dots, it looks at least more reliable than the lithium-sulfur battery.

A lot of people in the room laughed, but Sarott didn't care.

He cleared his voice and continued.

“Professor Claire asked a very good question, which our lab interns often ask, but formal researchers don't usually ask. Because we're thinking about solving the problem, not just freaking out all day like an outsider. ”

When I heard the irony in the story, the person who was laughing stopped laughing.

But the person who wasn't laughing laughed.

Because there's a play to watch.

Professor Claire was not given a chance to rebut, and Professor Sarot took a provocative look at him and continued.

“We all know that Mr. Claire is a lithium-sulfur battery, but to be honest, I'm also curious, how does he intend to solve the shuttle effect of dissolving polysulphide intermediates into electrolytes and spreading through the diaphragm from the positive to the negative? Normally, even mental retards know that positive and negative electrodes cannot be bonded together. ”

Clareton got angry and had a seizure in his eyes.

Sarott turned his back and continued.

“I talked to Professor Ark at Princeton about this. Theoretically, separating pure oxygen from the air is unrealistic, but with a fantastic mathematical model, we can deduce many potential products that have the potential to help us achieve our goals. ”

Suddenly, Sarott continued in a tone of agitation.

“I mean, if we can find a diaphragm that directs the passage of oxygen molecules, the problem with lithium air cells can be solved perfectly. ”

“And that's exactly what we're working on! ”

Ark:????

When did I talk to him?!

As Professor Sarot's voice fell, there was suddenly no one to speak in the room.

Many professors working in other directions, including Professor Claire, have a thoughtful, if not cogent, look on their faces.

A few men in suits sitting in the back row had a quiet exchange of views.

Face to face, these few people are less like researchers, and from their conversations, the Ark rarely hears the keywords "investment”, “cost”, “feasibility”.

Until then, he knew he could not remain silent.

It's okay for someone to pretend to be with their knowledge.

But someone is cheating on the funds under their own banner, this is unbearable!

Softly coughed, the ark stood up.

Seeing the one who stood up, Professor Sarott didn't recognize who this Asian was at once and frowned.

“Sir, are you…"

“I am the ark,” the ark coughed softly, "I can testify, I never said. ”

He's not done yet.

One shoe flew from the rear to the reporting platform.

Immediately thereafter, there was a neutral pen and water cup issued by the organizers, thrown all over their heads, and the whole reporting room was in chaos.

“Liar, get lost! ”

“Take your PPT back! ”

The so-called "mathematical model” mentioned by Professor Sarot almost frightened them before the ship stood up, and they doubted their lives for half a minute.

It was also because of half a minute of suspicion that made them so angry that they felt fooled!

Professor Sarott, who was attacked in a crowd, although seemingly a little cynical, was obviously also a man who had seen the world. He was able to hide from what had been thrown and quickly escaped the reporting room with the stack of speeches in his hand to protect his side face.

The angry group of researchers was quickly stopped when prompt movement was heard from the sponsor staff.

From the face of helplessness of these staff, it is clear that this is not the first time that this situation has been addressed.

Sitting behind the reporting hall, the Ark saw the riot from scratch, with some silly eyes.

Industry…

So tough?

By the way, it's his turn tomorrow.

The ship suddenly felt like it was panicking...
