Scholar’s Advanced Technological System

Chapter 343: Not everyone can laugh at the end

Just as ExxonMobil celebrated “victory," so did a celebration at the Hilton Hotel, not far away.

To celebrate another great victory for Anton in computing chemistry, and to celebrate the theoretical model of the electrochemical interface structure finally being built, David rented a luxurious ballroom at the Hilton Hotel at his own expense and hosted the party.

Spend a month in the middle of a busy day working overtime until late at night, all like a tight string.

And for people in this country, parties are the best way to relax.

Surprisingly, these PHDs, who don't normally dress to the edges, have a completely different side to the stereotypical image of "tech man" after taking off their white coats and plaid shirts and changing into the most expensive tuxedo in the wardrobe.

But what surprised him most was the ladies who attended the banquet.

Are there too many female researchers at the D.E.Shaw Institute?

He has been a visiting scholar at Columbia University for more than a month, during which time he basically goes to the Institute every day, but the female faces he sees are counted with one hand.

Especially the youthful and beautiful faces don't quite match the image of the female doctor...

It's not yet time for the party, but the guests have arrived early.

Standing in front of the ballroom dance floor, dressed in a formal David, poured a glass of champagne into his cup and held it high with a smile.

“Let's toast to victory, to our Anton and to our Professor Lu at this celebratory moment! ”

The three cheers threw out loud and exhilarating, and immediately pushed the banquet to its peak.

Driven by the atmosphere, guests at the banquet also laughed and raised their glasses.

“Cheers! ”

The staggered voice sounded perfectly, spilled champagne and foam dancing in the air.

In a laugh, the banquet opened its curtain.

The uniformed waiters walked into the banquet hall with plates and carts, and the food piled up on the long tables on both sides of the dance floor grew richer.

Immediately after the loud saxophone sounds, young men and women stepped onto the dance floor, guided by music.

Before eating, most people prefer to dance with their loved ones before planning the next part…

But the Ark, obviously, belongs to a minority.

The food at the banquet was more interesting to him than dancing.

Especially after eating a bacon sandwich for almost a month, those brightly colored salads, cakes adorned with cream, roasted crispy chicken legs, and roasted foie gras with sweet wine… whichever is more appetizing in the eyes of the ark.

David, the host of the party, walked over to him with champagne as he added food to his plate.

“How do you feel?” Raised the champagne and the ark touched a cup, David said with a smile, "At least half of this party is for you. ”

The Ark also smiled and responded casually: "It's very New York style. ”

“Compared to Princeton? ”

“Princeton's parties are usually barbecued on the lawn, which is another pleasure for me," paused for a moment, the ark continues with a relaxed tone, "I never noticed before, by the way, that there are so many female doctors in your institute. ”

“Not just my researchers, of course, but the girls from the University of Columbia, Manhattan Sisters,” David said in a joke, “You know, 90 percent of my labs are science and engineering men, and they're prone to problems for a long time. Giving them a relaxing social occasion is also one of their responsibilities as' bosses'. ”

“Societies?” The Ark tries to understand in its own way.

David smiled and said, "Ha ha, sort of. ”

In United States campuses, clubs, fraternities or sisters are a more common phenomenon, with more than half of the students participating, probably of a similar nature to associations at domestic universities.

Some of them are sports clubs in the form of extracurricular activities such as basketball, football, dance, etc., or social clubs that have no particular purpose but to provide young people with a "circle in which they can integrate”.

However, whatever type of club there is, there is a core thing in common.

That's an endless party.

In a sense, the Ivy Club (Catering Club), to which the Ark has been a member, is also a club of an elite nature. It's just that he usually treats it like a dining room and seldom participates in the club's collective activities.

And how does David's research institute relate to the Manhattan sisters?

Sometimes it doesn't really require any special connection.

This is the Hilton Manhattan Island, and although there are many people who can stay here, there are few clubs where parties can be held.

Even if the D.E.Shaw Institute were to be replaced by some unidentified football club in the Big Brother, a "celebratory research" would be replaced by "New York City runner-up of the school league”, as long as the party was held here, there would be a lot of pretty young girls willing to wear tuxedos.

Anyway, “JACS” or “football” is something else for them, and they enjoy the compulsion of banqueting and the pleasure of posting photos on Facebook.

“You're still single, though it doesn't matter if you're not,” said David jokingly, shaking the glass in his hand. "You don't have to hold on here. If you see anyone, you can dare invite her to a dance. ”

The ark was helpless: “Unfortunately I can't dance. ”

“It doesn't matter, even if you jump worse, I'm sure there are plenty of people who can stand it," holding a smile and touching a cup on the ark, David squeezing his eyebrows, “and I bet, as long as you have that idea, there should be a lot of girls willing to teach you how to handle it. ”

Is that a compliment?

The ark laughed a little.

How embarrassing.

Though he thought so too.

Without noticing what the Ark was thinking, David opened a new bottle of champagne and refilled his glass, "What's your next move? Why don't you just be a professor at Columbia University, and I can convince the headmaster to open an extra department of computing materials at Columbia University. ”

Looking out the window at all the lights on Manhattan Island, the ark shook its head with a smile: "Columbia University is a beautiful place and so is Manhattan Island. But I think Princeton suits me a little better than that. ”

Well, an individual has a choice. ”David sighed, but was not persuading.

Poured all the wine left in the bottle into the cup of the ark, and he went on to say, "If you have time, come back here often. ”

“No problem, it's close anyway,” suddenly came to mind, and the ark went on to say, “Well, there's one more thing I have to ask of you before I go back to Princeton. ”

David: “What is it? ”

“The theoretical building of the electrochemical interface structure has been completed, but young theories are not always valued. To enhance its credibility, I intend to try to solve some of the more specific problems with our theoretical tools, and on that point I need Anton's strength," Tong, the Ark continues, "I won't be borrowing too long, just before I get back to Princeton. ”

His visit to Columbia University lasted until June, which means that there will be about a month.

But this experiment doesn't take as long as a month. If you're optimistic, maybe half a month will be enough.

Moreover, compared to the previous topic, his forthcoming research on the Institute of Computing Materials in Jinling, although equally theoretical, would serve as a guide.

So whether David cares or not, he insists on paying for the rental of equipment and hired personnel.

David Rao asked with interest, "What are the more specific questions? ”

The ark smiled mysteriously.

“Molecular kinetic simulation of the interface between carbon sulfur composites and organic matter electrolytic solutions! ”
