There is not much time left to the “HE-3” project team.

Everyone seems to be tightening the alarm clock, racing against time.

Finally, thanks to the efforts of all, a slightly rough prototype machine was finally completed.

The entire prototype machine consists of two parts, one an "atomic gun” for accelerating and firing helium 3 atoms and the other a target material mounted in a vacuum chamber for receiving helium 3 atoms. As for the computers that are connected to the device, and the various observation elements, that is necessary, needless to say.

As to why this prototype machine is rough...

That's because it's got parts on it that almost all come together.

The acceleration orbit of the atomic gun was modified with a small particle accelerator that had been eliminated by the Argonne National Laboratory. The vacuum chamber used to bind the plasma is an experiment designed by PPPL when studying the simulator.

The entire experimental apparatus heats the internal plasma up to 7,000 degrees, far from 100 million degrees high temperature, binds the electromagnetic field of the plasma, and is more than one order of magnitude away from the 10T of the simulator.

But even so, it is enough.

Any experiment begins by proving its viability, and they don't need to complete a nuclear fusion ignition in this humble vacuum chamber, or even fully simulate the amazing density of plasma in the star weapon.

They need only succeed in collecting data from these plasmas and analyzing them to arrive at “observations” that are more precise than plasma “diagnostics”.

Finally, it is sufficient to solve the problem of "method migration” so that this observation device can work on the simulator.

In fact, the original idea of the Ark was to get the WEGA experimental team's decommissioned star mimetics.

But he was just thinking, and Professor Razelson clearly told him that it was not something that could be bought with money.

Anyway, this prototype is done!

The trajectory of the particle accelerator is the atomic gun "loaded” and the target material receiving the helium 3 atom is a tungsten titanium alloy widely used in impact experiments with high-speed charge particles. Behind the target material, there are also probes for different sensitivities and functions for receiving impact data.

So far, although a number of problems have been encountered throughout the project, the overall situation has been satisfactory.

As soon as the final commissioning was completed, Professor Razelson couldn't wait to announce the start of the first experiment.

Researchers in the lab have spent countless days and nights sweating for this project. Now that the entire unit is finally assembled, they need a success to boost morale!

However…

Things are not going as smoothly as everyone thought.

The moment the helium 3 atom is injected into the high-temperature pressure plasma, it is heated to the plasma state for a short period of time, as expected, the detector connected to the outer wall of the simulation device, and the electromagnetic wave data generated by the helium 3 due to collisions, etc., are collected as desired.

Fate seems to have made a joke with all the researchers here that the helium 3 atoms fired by atomic guns did not penetrate the plasma as well as they had hoped.

Wherever it ended up, it didn't hit the target material anyway.

Apparently, they fired bullets successfully.

However, bullets were not successfully recovered.

Undoubtedly, the first experiment failed...

……

The 21st experiment is over.

The atmosphere in the lab was unusually heavy.

The probe mounted behind the material still does not detect the signal from the helium 3 atomic strike target material...

So far, they're facing the biggest bottleneck since the project started.

If the bullet fired cannot be recovered, then the bullet will be meaningless.

The first to break the silence was an engineer of controlled nuclear fusion.

In an uncertain tone, he tried to ask, "Is the probe not sensitive enough? Actually, the impact has happened, but we haven't observed it. ”

This is a possibility that if the collision signal is weak enough, it may indeed be ignored by the detector.

“Impossible," another plasma physics expert shook his head, "the waveform image of the electromagnetic wave is obvious, the energy of three particles of helium in a third of the region has attenuated the breakthrough threshold, there is no need to observe at all that theoretically it has deviated from its intended orbit… you should know. ”

And finally, this is a plasma physics expert, looking at the ark.

Without speaking, the ark nodded only in a divine and concentrated manner.

From the wave peak changes on the electromagnetic spectrum image, he has been able to make the judgement that the helium 3 atom as a bullet did not penetrate the plasma, but “disappeared” in collision with particles inside the plasma.

It may be confined to the electromagnetic field with those plasmas, or it may break through the confinement of the electromagnetic field and the plasma, but the direction of motion has completely changed in the constant collision...

If particles injected into the chaotic system cannot be observed, they become part of the chaotic system, and even if they still exist, they are undoubtedly physically “missing”.

Research, seems to be caught in the dead...

“This idea may not work at all." Removed his helmet, Professor Razelson looked at the computer screen in a concentrated manner and then turned to the ark. "The plasma used in the experiment was only heated to 7,000 degrees high and the density was far from reaching the plasma density in the simulator...”

Professor Razelson did not finish his remarks, but the meaning expressed was clear.

Even if the difficulty were reduced to this point, the helium 3 particles would not penetrate the entire plasma as expected. Not to mention in the orbit of hundreds of millions of copiers at temperatures.

After staring at a pitch-black screen and silencing for a long time with the researchers at the lab, the ark suddenly opened its mouth.

“We need to fire a more powerful atomic gun! ”

“Yes, we need to launch a more powerful atomic gun, preferably using the Swiss Hadron Collider as an acceleration module, plugging our Helium 3 into a moon rocket and letting it punch through all the particles encountered along the way, instead of flying out…" Professor Razelson laughed at himself and shook his head, “but, you know, it's obviously impossible. ”

“Not so exaggerated,” the ark shook its head, continuing, "I've just calculated that all we need to do is increase the electromagnetic field strength of the atomic gun to 1T, theoretically allowing our He3 particles to hit the target material at a limited deflection angle after penetrating the plasma. ”

This has not been rigorously calculated and is a conservative estimate based on experience.

It may not be 1T, but 1T is definitely enough.

“This is already exaggerated! The constraint magnetic field strength of the copycat is only 10T!” Sputtering stars flying around, Professor Razelson can't help but growl, "Seriously, do you guys have a mathematical concept for the data you've calculated? Do you know how expensive the superconducting materials and the liquid helium used are? ”

Ultimately, it is still a matter of funding.

Although PPPL is very impressive and it cost a lot of money to build this lab, it actually costs only $40 million a year.

This money needs to be allocated to a number of projects that can be used for the "HE3 atomic probe” technique, probably less than $4 million.

They use replacement old equipment to modify recycled parts, not only to save time on customizing new equipment, but also to save money.

After all, every time they experiment, they burn money.

In Professor Razelson's mind, even a grumpy thought emerged.

Perhaps working with this guy was the wrong decision from the start.

Looking at the angry Professor Razelson, the other engineers in the lab were silent.

The demands made by the Ark were indeed a little excessive, as if a wealthy man had told the poor that if bread was not enough to fill their bellies, why not eat cake?

Without a word, the ark waited quietly for him to finish everything.

Looking at Professor Razelson, whose beard was shaking with anger, he just coughed softly and said slowly.

“What if I could solve the problem of funding? ”

Thank you to the "Lost Bookworm" alliance leader for rewarding ~ ~!

Anyway, it's been going off for a few days. Can I ask for a ticket? I begged if I could... for a monthly ticket!!!
