Almost two weeks have passed since we landed on Mars, and it has been three days since we renamed this life-support unit "New Virginia."

During this time, the New Virginia observation post… or colonial work has proceeded fairly smoothly, during which, despite a dust storm lasting 17 hours, there has been an eventual and unsafe passage.

In fact, sandstorms per se are not dangerous in the case of Mars, a hundred times thinner than the Earth's atmosphere. The danger is that static lightning, which occurs in conjunction with sandstorms, and prolonged declines in lighting, prevent solar power units from gaining access to sufficient energy.

However, this has been taken into account by the Mars colonization project team at Space-X, where life support units are equipped with generators for the combustion of methane and can replace solar power units.

At the same time, the first thing on the ground after these colonists landed was to install lightning rods for their new homes to prevent possible accidents…

Although there was a lot of trouble adapting to life on Mars in the early days, fortunately they managed to overcome it. Meanwhile, Johnson typically spends half an hour a day recording the Mars Diary as he cooperates with the NASA Ground Command Center on scheduled science examinations.

As Columbus on this new continent, he certainly hopes that more people will be interested in his "New Virginia”. So when he films, he usually chooses to show off the good side of colonial life, the adventurous, not the dangerous side, and ignore those awful places.

And in fact, the broadcast of this “big colonial ad" was quite successful, and people were surprisingly eating it and discussing life on Mars enthusiastically. And every issue of the Mars Diary gets a lot of heat on FB and Twitter after it's aired.

To date, five episodes of the Mars Diary have been released and have become one of North America's most popular webcasts, with many television stations receiving broadcast rights from Space-X.

Today is the shooting of episode 6.

Hold onto the camera on the table, Johnson takes two steps back, reveals his full white teeth, smiles and says hello to the camera.

“Hey, guys, I'm Johnson, Captain of the Golden Heart! Long time no see, we meet again! ”

“Unfortunately, we had a dust storm just like the Opportunity! I can't reach out for five fingers, I can't go on an adventure today... but don't worry for us, we don't go out because we're not afraid of being blown away by the wind, even if the thin atmosphere scratches a tornado, it doesn't make any difference to scratching itch. ”

“Let's talk about something else today, and I'll show you what we do in the colony when we can't go out...”

Johnson picked up the camera equipment from the table and walked to the public event area next to him, explaining to the audience what was happening and how to spend time with the VR game equipment or treadmill.

“This is where we entertain… Although it looks a little narrow now, it is after all the early stages of entrepreneurship and everything will be fine… Say hello, Tevy. ”

A helpless smile was squeezed out of Tyvey's face playing the game, but soon after Johnson's eyes reminded him to put on a sunny smile.

Johnson returned a "good” gesture and squeezed his eyebrows at him.

“You don't have to thank me for cutting that. ”

“Well, thank you very much. ”

Tevy rolled a white eye and continued to kill in the ocean of video games with VR glasses on.

In fact, life here is quite boring, far less utopian than Johnson portrays it.

However, it is obvious that these items are not suitable for display in this half-hour period, or even if he accidentally shows them, Space-X will help him to kindly delete that part when he clips the video.

But none of this matters.

He didn't shoot these things to spread the negative energy himself.

Speaking to the camera, watching tens of millions of kilometres of growth on the globe has become part of his daily decompression. If it wasn't for enough content, the clips would take time, and he would even like to relax at a gathering frequency a day.

After watching Tevy playing VR electric with his audience friends and Jones sitting next to a coffee maker reading a book, Johnson walked into the garage of a Mars car and stood next to his "car of love”.

“Happy times are always short, and it's time to say goodbye again. I look forward to seeing you again, and I hope you look forward to seeing me next time, bye--”

Johnson put a cool pose on the camera and finished shooting today.

At this point, the garage door was filled with footsteps and Tevy, who had finished playing time, came over.

Looking at Johnson standing next to the Mars car, he lifted his arms and said with a complaining voice.

“This damn show doesn't make me feel any better. ”

Johnson laughed, stuffed the camera device in the pocket of his plainclothes, and walked to the door and patted Tevy on the shoulder.

“Relax, buddy. I can drive you out for a drive when the dust storm stops. ”

Tevy complained, "I don't want to go for a ride. Go yourself. There's nothing here but sand! Damn, what the hell am I doing here? ”

Mars doesn't have roads or anything like that. It's a little better in the desert. The last time I went to the rock borehole to sample, the bumps along the way almost didn't turn out the lunch in his stomach.

Immediately after his fresh arrival on Mars, he resisted attendance and demanded that his post be reorganized into the colony.

Though helpless, Johnson satisfied his request.

Instead, Jones was transferred to the attendance position.

But the task itself does not require a lot of people, and most of the equipment is highly automated and sometimes doesn't even require them to get out of the car.

Before leaving for the life support unit, the NASA itself had taken into account the fact that none of the three colonists were allowed to leave the cabin.

To be honest, their main task is actually to test this life-support unit, and most of the other science examinations are incidental.

“All right, man, everything's gonna be okay. Two months of flying have survived, and our good days are just beginning.”

Faced with teammate complaints, Johnson didn't know what to do either and could only try to comfort him.

Whether his team buys or not, it's the only thing he can do.

What he did not know, however, was that while he was comforting Tevy, the NASA Ground Command Centre, tens of millions of kilometres away, had become a mess.

Yes, it is.

The dust storm on Mars is really nothing to be afraid of.

However, if this global sandstorm lasted more than six months, even if methane generators could be used as backup power, things would start to get less optimistic...
