Scholar’s Advanced Technological System

Chapter 943: None of You Can Fight? (3/4)

By the time the Ark arrived in Reporting Room One, the briefing had begun.

Standing in front of the screened PPT, an old man with white hair pushed his glasses on the nose beam and was talking in a less tight and slow voice about something that the ark could not understand at all.

But while he doesn't understand it at all, the scholars downstairs listen very carefully, even as if they were drunk.

That reminds the Ark of his own debriefing, and that's basically how the audience under the stage looks when he's in a debriefing session.

He's a master.

So I thought to myself, the ark didn't stay much at the door, and soon found an empty seat in the last row.

In fact, the Dr. Weasle's statement is a little exaggerated, and although there are a lot of people in the reporting room, it is not enough to make it impossible to find a single spot and have to sit in the corridor.

Few of the people who sat under the podium were basically wearing thick glasses and looking very, very young. These people come to the briefing with questions or purposes, basically sitting there, with or without seats in the reporting room.

After finding a position, the boat sitting down looked down at his neck and then turned over his cell phone, looking back at the paper he had previously worked with Xiaotong, while dedicating part of his energy to listening to Professor Joseph's explanation.

The theory of the Lu-Bewley model part, he has basically forgotten. Though it seems a little important to the economics community, for him, it's a little something that comes out of hand, so it's not in his mind at all.

But now that the paper has been taken out and revisited, he quickly picked up the core piece of the paper, the mathematical model.

This one-sided approach is most likely to be unpleasant for the average person, with no regard for either side.

But for an ark that often does so to save time, he's almost used to it.

Remember when he used to be a professor in Princeton, he didn't just do it with his heart, he could even do it with his heart and ask questions when he heard them.

Standing slowly on stage, Professor Joseph suddenly frowned when he saw a shiny spot in the back row of the stage.

The light emitted on the mobile phone screen is not obvious, and even if you weren't staring at it specifically, you wouldn't necessarily notice it.

However, in the reporting room, where everyone stared closely at him and looked forward to his continuing conversation, a man kept burying his head and brushing a small, constant motion against the screen of his cell phone, even if he was sitting in the last row, so prominent from his perspective.

Although it was not uncommon for him to play with his phone at the report, he had always resented it, which would make him feel less attractive than his own research.

But Joseph just frowned and ignored the man who upset him.

If this was in his classroom, he would definitely invite the mobile player out, but this is an academic presentation, he can't delay the time of other scholars because of this little thing, let alone have no credit for this kind of thing as a threat...

At this moment, the Ark did not notice that it was hated by some economics bull because of this unsightly move.

But if he knew why, he would surely cry in the eyes of this old gentleman.

Not to mention, he's not playing with his phone, he's looking back!

But even if he finds out, I'm afraid the ark won't pay too much attention.

First, he is not a scholar in economics, and second, to the extent that he is now, not one thousand or eight hundred people, not so bad at all...

Read the paper from beginning to end, both in the mathematical model and in the theoretical part.

After watching the ark put away the phone and was interested to hear how Professor Joseph evaluated his mathematical model. I didn't think he had just focused on the stage, but the old gentleman's next sentence was that he almost didn't throw up blood.

“We all know that a fairly novel mathematical model has recently emerged in the field of economics, created by renowned Fields Prize winner Professor Ark, which saves a lot of cumbersome computation by building on the classic Bewley model and makes the results of the model computation more accurate...”

“I do not deny that this mathematical model is beautiful, gentlemen, and I do not deny it. ”

Looking around the reporting room, Professor Joseph continued in a serious tone, “While I myself am a supporter of the new economic and trade theory and often use mathematics as a tool to complement my quantitative research into economic theory, I must stress once again that mathematics in economics is just a tool, as if we were a 'macroeconomic forum' rather than an 'accounting finance forum’. ”

There was a friendly laugh in the room.

A lot of people still agree with this joke made by the old man.

Indeed, today's new economists are increasingly dependent on computers and mathematical tools, and even Nobel economics is increasingly becoming a "Nobel Prize in Mathematics”.

In the eyes of conservative scholars, this is stupid.

Paused for a moment, Professor Joseph continued.

“Economics is about studying the laws of human economic activity, that is, the laws of creation, transformation and realization of values, not digital games. We're economists, we're not financial accountants. ”

“While the presentation was based on the Lu-Bewley model, what I'm about to say may disappoint a lot of people," said Joseph, taking a deep look at Professor Krugman sitting in the front seat, gazing for a few seconds at the same no-winner scholar who strongly admired the Lu-Bewley model, "and I'll focus the presentation on revealing the drawbacks of the Lu-Bewley model. ”

“In my opinion, these shortcomings are deadly! ”

As soon as the voice fell, the whispering was heard in the reporting room.

In response to Professor Joseph's criticism, the Ark almost didn't throw up blood at first, but after hearing what he said later, his expression returned to normal.

He is a mathematician himself, a complete outsider to the field of economics, and even if there is a fatal flaw, it is nothing short of it.

Besides, Professor Joseph criticized only the economics of his Lu-Bewley model, not saying that his mathematical theory was problematic.

I don't care about the ship at all.

Let him go.

Just as he reclined his back of his head back on the chair, he heard the two faces sitting next to him looking young, like doctoral scholars, whispering and whispering.

“Didn't Professor Krugman discuss the Lu-Bewley model in his new paper? Looks like his attitude is the opposite of that of Professor Joseph? ”

“You don't have to say that! Professor Krugman and Professor Nash have always had a good relationship! Supporters of theories of mathematical economics. His most classic view is that a beautiful model of economics must have a mathematical aesthetic… but he himself seems to have very general mathematical abilities. ”

“This report will look interesting. ”

“Yeah, yeah, Professor Krugman's right there! Professor Joseph may have said this to him… in response to his earlier paper! ”

“Unfortunately, Professor Krugman's position is still a little lower than that of Professor Joseph! Even Samuelson, the author of Economics, expressed his disgrace! ”

Listening to these people whisper, the ark's eyebrows gently picked up and down.

Is Professor Krugman in the report room?

Is this what Joseph said to him?

Although I don't really understand the debate in economics, I always feel like things are getting interesting...

Professor Krugman's expression was a little stiff sitting in the reporting room.

Professor Joseph's words, no doubt, hit him in the face.

Somewhat restless, Xiaotong finally couldn't help but whisper: “Professor, the Lu-Bewley model… is there really a flaw? ”

“Hard to say," Professor Krugman shook his head, "I don't think it's flawed... but Joseph, the old guy, he has a better set of mathematical models of economics than I do, and maybe he found something I didn't find, and I don't know what the problem is. ”

Professor Andis nodded, agreeing with his old friend Professor Krugman.

“We need to hear more. Maybe it's not that bad. ”

Professor Krugman's expression was heavy.

“Yeah, I need to hear more. ”

Professor Joseph continued to speak on the stage, while using the marker pen in his hand on the whiteboard from time to time writing the highlights of the narrative on the floor books.

“It is well known that the Bewley model has gradually become the mainstream method of macroeconomic research due to overcoming the inherent shortcomings of the random dynamic general equilibrium framework, and has been improved on this basis, for example by using a number of academic tools such as the 'endogenous mesh method’ instead of the Lagrange multiplier method to solve these cumbersome manipulations for each step of the optimization process…”

“At the same time, however, the Bewley model lost his original rigour. ”

[f (x, y, z) = ag3, 1 + bg3, 2 + cg3, 3… where x, y, z ≥ 0…]

……

As his explanation continued, the line by line formula was also printed on the whiteboard.

He stopped the marker pen in his hand, and Professor Joseph turned to the report room and continued.

“If the KPR utility function is tested for the introduction of Formula 3, it is clear that there are problems in the model. ”

“As I have just said, the Lu-Bewley model is theoretically fatally flawed and requires at least significant modifications. ”

“My speech is over, and if you have any questions, you can raise them. ”

Quiet and silent crowbirds.

As if a needle could be heard on the ground.

In saying this, Professor Joseph glanced at Professor Krugman's direction and saw him staring at the blackboard, pulling the corner of his mouth gently.

High court verdict.

This guy didn't even keep up with his speed of explanation.

Though he wasn't going to compare anything to this guy, he was rather dissatisfied with the guy's argument that he adored the Lu-Bewley model.

I thought this guy could say something. I didn't think he could even ask a question.

To think of it, Joseph's face showed a slight disappointment and a few glimmers of loneliness.

There's nothing to fight for!

Just when he stamped his paper on the desk and was about to wait a little while before anyone raised his hand, he wasted no time, but a hand that surprised him was raised from the back.

“I have a few questions. ”

With this sound coming from the back of the reporting room, the big reporting room, instantly became lively...
