Chapter 991 Withdrawal (2/4)

In the United States, there are two world-famous streets.

One is Wall Street on Manhattan Island, New York, and the other is K Street in Washington, D.C.

As the headquarters of several of the country's most influential lobbying organizations, think tanks, are here, they are often referred to as “lobbying a street” or “the fourth largest department of the United States Government”, and even a number of countries have public relations offices here similar to "second embassy”. Many of the major events that have taken place in history, as well as those that are about to take place in the international community, are also relevant here.

Lawrence, sitting at the corner of K Street, nodded with the phone in his hand.

“… is that what the President said? ”

“Okay, I get it. ”

After two brief sentences, Lawrence hung up and handed the phone to the assistant standing next to him.

Sitting opposite him, watching Lawrence finish this call, Woods raised his eyebrows curiously and asked.

“Can I ask you a question? ”

“Ask. ”

“I was on the phone with you...”

“Chief of Staff. ”

Chief of Staff!

Woods pupils sitting on the couch contracted slightly.

It's not unusual to be able to connect with a chief of staff, and ExxonMobil has the same energy, but let the chief of staff call him personally to report on the progress...

Thinking about it, Woods smashed his tongue.

No wonder these vampires are always making the right choices, just the way to get the information, the general investment managers who watch the news gather intelligence, and they're not on a heavyweight scale.

Looking back at the reports I had seen the other day about Black Thursday, I was afraid that the fall in the Dow Jones Industrial Index these days would make this guy a lot of money...

“What did the White House decide? ”

Lawrence did not hide Woods' inquiry and smiled less carelessly.

“The time has not come to reconsider the anti-monopoly investigation of astral science and technology to provoke conflict. ”

Woods was slightly stunned and shocked.

“The patent--”

“Don't think of anything that doesn't belong to you. ”

Looking at this Texas guy, Lawrence smiled slightly, and although he didn't look too good in his heart, he didn't show up on his face.

Instead of lobbying the White House, pushing the Ministry of Justice to launch a judicial investigation, buying witnesses, these savages are more inclined to take possession of the wealth belonging to others and place their bets in a favourable direction.

To be honest, it's like horse racing.

The real winner is definitely not the horse who rushed past the finish line, and the owner of the medals and prizes, but the dealer who won all the chips on the exterior.

“Shit! ”

Woods, who squeezed his fist dead and barely maintained his style, gasped heavily, seemingly trying to exhale the anger in his chest through that heavy snort.

“Now that the results are out, I don't have to stay here, thank you for the hospitality, Mr. Woods. ”

Standing up on the couch, Lawrence nodded to his assistant next to him, indicating that he would drive, and then continued to look at Woods, who was sitting across the street, “We were very interested in that oil field in Paraguay, and our analysts predicted that even if every car on the planet was electric in 2040, oil consumption would only return to 2013 levels, and the oil business would still be profitable, and I sincerely suggest you consider this project...”

Looking at Woods, who obviously had something to say, Lawrence paused for a moment and smiled and continued.

“Of course, you don't have to laugh at me right away. Princeton's history lesson didn't teach me much investment skills, but thankfully it taught me patience. ”

Standing up on the couch, Woods frowned and asked, "Are you ready to go? ”

“Well," Lawrence nodded, raising his left hand and glancing at the time, "the plane at three o'clock, I'm almost there. ”

“To where? ”

“Meet an old friend. ”

Lawrence smiled and continued.

“Long time no see, I hear he's been doing well. ”

……

Binghamton University.

Chemistry lab.

Professor Stanley, sitting at his desk turning over the newspaper, suddenly felt as if he had taken off some burdens, and the whole person was relieved.

I happened to come back from the outside and saw the look on my professor's face. The doctor with glasses asked slightly.

“What's the matter, Professor? ”

“The complaint was withdrawn. ”

“Withdrawal? ”

“Nothing, it's none of your business," said Professor Stanley, leaving the newspaper at random, standing up from his office chair and putting his hands around his collar, in a good mood, "Which classroom is this afternoon? ”

“A Teaching Building 411… are you going to go in person? ”

The Doctor took a look at the professor unexpectedly.

What he usually hates the most is teaching those undergraduates, holding textbooks and explaining boring things over and over again, and if it's not necessary, pushing them to assistants and students' courses, and he would never go there on his own, and his name is America, and only in the lab would he find true science.

Now he actually asked to go to class...

It was the Sun rising from the West!

“… occasionally looking back at why something obvious is obvious and helps to inspire new research… I forgot who said this and who is probably the famous guy, that's what happened anyway,” said Professor Stanley casually, “Well, anyway, I'll take this afternoon class, you just go help me sort out the literature. ”

The Doctor nodded in plain sight.

“Okay Professor, I'll go and copy the PPT out of the computer...”

With a snort, Professor Stanley whispered in disdain.

“I don't need that stuff, I really have a good professor, just one blackboard and one chalk is enough. ”

Doctor: "…”

There was nothing to explain. Professor Stanley, in a good mood, picked up the teaching proposal on the table and turned towards the door.

Looking at the office door closed, the PhD student still stood at the desk foggy, wondering what was going on with his boss.

The gaze fell on the newspaper on the table.

In the mood for gossip, he took a step forward and secretly expanded the newspaper on the table, turning to the page previously read by Professor Stanley.

“The biggest intellectual property fraud case in history, due to insufficient evidence ExxonMobil chose to drop the lawsuit...”

With his eyes slightly enlarged, he immediately remembered, wasn't that the subject of his mentor's collaboration with ExxonMobil?

ExxonMobil did not have enough evidence to choose to withdraw the case, which was bad news no matter what, but his mentor's face showed a relieved look...

Suddenly, he thought of a rumor that had been circulating in academia for some time.

A rumor that made him snort...

“Is it true that the paper from six years ago...”

Her face changed slightly and she felt like she had discovered a great secret from her mentor. The doctor quickly closed the newspaper and put it back in place as if nothing had happened.

He doesn't want justice, he just wants to graduate from it.

Whatever the truth, he intends to bury it in his stomach.

At least, before you graduate...
