Chapter 1166: End of Empire

The sky is cloudy orange yellow, and the sun is set on the side of the dawn line forever, depressed and breathless.

The mountains are full of farmland, but the crops here seem blue, looking at the layers of waves piled up, blue as the sea.

The ship originally thought that this experience, like the last one, would be the hard core of a shooting rain. I didn't expect to see this moment in front of him, but it was a pastoral song.

However, this feeling soon stopped as his gaze continued to rise.

The distant mountain ranges seem to have been cut in half by some kind of horrible force, violent. Alloy breaks exposed outside the rock mass are full of sores.

As can be seen, there has been a terrible war here.

“It's spectacular, isn't it?” Standing beside him, is a Cajun man who looks at some muddy, only to see the angular chin move, he squints his eyes at the distant dusk and continues, “Ryu, I hear the distant star is your home. ”

Guessing the man was talking to himself, the ark nodded.

“Yes… General Reinhardt. ”

Unlike the last time, this time he had just spoken, a string of strange memories poured into his mind. His synchronized character is a soldier from a distant star colony in Leather. After the flames of his life lit, he joined the rebel army and became part of General Reinhardt's guard.

Unbelievable.

I didn't expect this Reinhardt... that the main character of the Ark in the first memory, 50 years after the Oracle incident, launched a revolution against the Empire. Life?

However, their situation does not appear to be very optimistic.

At least now, they are probably on the defensive side's side, and have been devastated in previous rounds of battles.

“I'm sorry to have made your hometown like this, I remember that mountain, once the top ten most spectacular views of the Empire. Looks like it's called Morning Fainting Gate? ”

At this point, a sergeant-like man walked over.

“General, the Imperial fleet has given us an ultimatum. ”

Reinhardt was silent for a while and said.

“I have important business to discuss with the officers of Level 5 and above who will wait for me in the staff room. ”

“Yes.”

The sergeant turned and walked away.

Reinhardt turned to Ryu standing next to him, the role of the Ark at this moment. His index finger pointed to the sky, and it was filled with a ray of light like a meteor.

“See those arcs? ”

The ship raised its head and looked in the direction he pointed.

Without waiting for himself to speak, he laughed and continued.

“It's an imperial spear, isn't it? ”

Ark: “General? ”

“Centuries ago, when we ended the last war, we wiped out the vast majority of our armaments, and now, in less than five years, we rearmed the Imperial fleet to its teeth. ”

“War is, after all, a biological instinct, and it seems that the empire has not yet decayed to the extent we can imagine… it is I who underestimate the old stubbornness of the Chamber. ”

Reinhardt shook his head and a self-derisive smile appeared on his face.

But it's okay.

While it is doubtful whether such a fleet will work in the face of the natural disaster in the Oracle, at least the Empire is now no longer a sheep lying on the case board, unlike it was five years ago.

Even so.

It's also a sheep armed to the teeth.

“Come with me, Ryu. ”

“Every second we delay, a brave soldier is sacrificed for our cause. In order for their sacrifice not to be in vain, and in order to give us a little hope for our future, I need to make some preparations. If I needed courage, would you lend it to me? ”

Not knowing how to answer that sentence, the ark was silent for a while and said.

“… you've been brave enough, General. ”

“Really?” General Reinhardt shook his head with a smile, as if he remembered a distant past, continuing with some spilled sound, "Maybe so. ”

……

The staff room will be here shortly.

Reinhardt laid his hands on the table and looked around at the officers present, frankly, even bluntly.

“Gentlemen, we are losing this war. ”

The crowcrow at the table was silent.

The ship noticed that a lot of people were holding their breath.

“I am not afraid of failure; death is merely the embrace of the Spirit of the Return to the Universe, and for a warrior, sacrifice is his greatest honour, as my commander once taught me, though he is now afraid to be disappointed in me. ”

He grinned and laughed, looking around at the officers at the table, General Reinhardt continued.

“I'm not afraid of failure, but I don't want everything we do to turn into meaningless resistance in the end. ”

“At least, in the worst case scenario, we have to leave something behind. ”

The staff room was silent for a long time.

An officer finally broke the silence and said.

“But, General, what can we leave behind? ”

“Leave the spark, or leave hope," walked to the holographic panel, Reinhardt waved his hand out, switching the operational map to the star map of the entire star system.

Looking at the cantilever wrapped around the galaxy, his index finger points towards the center of the galaxy.

“In Dr. Ryan's notes, we figured out the direction of that strange drop, and we knew where they were going. If we want to be there, we go there too. ”

The Revolutionary Army Fleet Commander had a bitter expression on his face: "No life form can break the Imperial Fleet blockade, and they will surely inspect every aircraft with signs of life activity, even ‘cleansing' the entire planet whenever necessary. Besides, none of our ships can sail completely out of the supply station to unfamiliar stars 500 light-years away. Even with the lowest energy consumption standards, our ships are at least 100,000 light-years apart from the center of the galaxy...”

“Then let the dead go! ”

There was a glimmer of determination on his face, as if such a decision had been made a long time ago, and Reinhardt said in an irrefutable tone, "Copy my memories into the hardware and then specimen my remains. ”

“Nature is best if our civilization eventually survives. ”

“If not, we must at least leave something behind to prove that this great empire once existed! ”

The second half of the memory is somewhat of a sad color.

By the time the meeting was halfway through, the impatient Imperial Fleet had begun to bombard the ground. High-temperature plasma melts rock bodies and turns the surface into purgatory. Chemical-energy weapons that are of no use in space have demonstrated more power than imagined in their terrestrial attacks on planets in the atmosphere.

Under the rotation of orbital weapons and automatic ground combat units, the line of defense of the Revolutionary Army gradually collapsed.

In the underground bunker, Reinhardt kept his memory in his computer, personally setting the escape ship's route, and intelligent cruise AI.

Finally, in a silent farewell by countless officers, he ended his life with a needle with a lethal virus and became a specimen to go to the center of the star system.

I kept seeing the end of the story, and the ark held my breath from sometime.

Although the 100,000 light years of the journey that followed did not come to his attention, since the memory had been preserved, it was certain that the hopeful spacecraft had successfully arrived at the centre of the star system.

Everything about the Old Universe has been destroyed, but this memory still flows and is seen by itself in the New Universe.

Of course, what really shocked him was not the appearance of those Coffee Blues in the face of the bombing, but a detail of General Reinhardt before he boarded the ship and escaped.

Only General Reinhardt, who had removed a battery cut from the middle from his collar, silently prayed for a moment before putting it back.

The Ark knows the battery!

That battery is exactly the magazine of the energy weapon he saw in the first memory.

And that's the one that was covered by the drone's shooting rain and pierced by unknown ray holes!

I didn't expect this battery to be worn by Reinhardt as a amulet all the time, and I put it with my body and sent it to the center of the star system.

Broken batteries, time-weathered spacecraft engines, even some retarded AI...

Associated with the gift I received from the void, the ark felt its heart beat suddenly accelerating.

Thus, the gifts he has received so far from the void most likely come from the remains of the Coffee Empire… or cultural relics.

He may know where Em came from...
