Chapter 1291: Straightening Curly Spacetime

IMCRC headquarters.

A whiteboard office hangs on a wall.

Faced with one of the almost full white boards, Professor Wei Hong, with a marker pen in his hand, pondered for a long time and suddenly broke the silence.

“I got it! ”

Professor David, standing next to him, asked hastily.

“What do you have in mind? ”

Since just now, three people, including Lowenhuan, are discussing the issue of "Possible causes of Z particle to gravitational field disturbance", and Wei Hong has given a possibility on the whiteboard from a mathematical point of view.

However, just as the other two listened carefully, he suddenly stopped talking. The whole person is like thinking stuck with something, standing there for a long time.

Now finally, Professor David, who thought he'd found something amazing, hurriedly threw away the look of questioning at him.

Faced with his partner's enquiry, Professor Weihong silenced for about two minutes, combining the ideas that emerged in his mind into simple and understandable language and then speaking.

“The essence of gravity is that the mass of the object itself does not interfere with the gravitational field itself, but changes the curvature of time and space relative to the gravitational field, with respect to the bending of time and space, moving from the high dimension to the low dimension. ”

As he spoke, he picked up the pen and drew two parallel circles on the whiteboard, connecting the upper and lower ends of the circles with two arcs.

“There is a curvature in time and space, assuming that the curvature is X, assuming that the two lines are gravitational field lines under conventional time and space, when the Z particles oscillate at both ends, the value of X changes, even being reduced to infinity close to zero, and the two arcs will also be stretched infinitely, closer to a straight line -”

Looking at the two clean, straight lines drawn by Professor Weihong between the two arcs, Rowenxuan's face gradually appeared with a surprise.

“I see what you're saying, but it sounds... a little awkward. So we can build a portal on the other end of the galaxy with just two lunar Hadron colliders? ”

Wei Hong shook his head.

“This metaphor is inappropriate, more like erecting a highway between two undulating peaks. ”

According to Einstein's general relativity, matter and time (space-time) bend due to the presence of matter. And in the classic universe where matter prevails, the universe that humans can observe directly, it is clearly a “curved” universe.

In this curved universe, moving from the A-line to the B-surface is a straight line, but in fact, in the high-dimensional universe, it's a distorted journey.

If Wei Hong's assumptions are correct, it means that they may somehow “straighten” the curly space-time, directly along a “straight line” in the true sense of the word, across this curly universe to where they want to go.

In the case of Mars, for example, the closest distance between Mars and Earth is 55 million kilometres, and it takes 182 seconds even to walk at the speed of light.

However, if time and space bent between them were “straightened” - even just pulled out the width of a highway - that distance might be reduced to 5.5 million, or 550,000 kilometres.

In such cases, even without a grasp of how to transcend the speed of light, it is possible to actually break the speed limit of light and travel through the universe in light years in a very short time.

Scared by the broad prospects presented behind this theory, Luo Wenxuan was stunned for a long time before gradually showing a serious expression and asking.

“Is there a way to prove it? ”

“Hard,” Wei Hong's face gradually appeared with a bitter smile as he looked at the formula on the white board, “or more accurately, quite difficult. This involves both multiple and complex difficulties and is linked to the most complex composite of high-dimensional differential streams and algebraic geometry in mathematics. It is no exaggeration to say that if you abstract this into a mathematical problem, it will not be less difficult than Pongale thought! ”

Upon hearing this, Professor Rowenxuan and Professor David looked at each other.

Even for the latter, who are not good at mathematics, they are aware of the seven millennium dilemmas of mathematics.

As a crown in differential geometry, Pongalei speculated that it took three generations of mathematicians almost a century to take it off the top of the mountain.

If the problem is harder to solve than Pongale thought...

They have little chance of winning.

“If we can prove this conclusion, there's nothing wrong with just being famous.” With some envious tone, Professor David said,

Luo Wenxuan smiled dry and said: “It's more than history… if we can really do it, at least put it in a position with Einstein. ”

This is the key to the edge of the galaxy!

Whoever can find it is the father of the Star Age.

Even theoretically providing a viable way to navigate between star systems is of immense significance. And if anybody in the distant future has actually achieved hyperspace navigation through their theories, then I'm afraid even Einstein and Newton, taken together, will have to be matched by this unparalleled glory.

This was also foreseen, and Professor Wei Hong sighed softly.

“Unfortunately, this theory is not something that ordinary people can accomplish… at least it is beyond my means. ”

“Where's Professor Witten? ”

“If he was in his thirties, he might be able to, but now... it's almost impossible," Weihong continued, "At present, only Professor Lu is likely to have the best chance of solving this problem. ”

Seeing that the two people looked at themselves together, Rowenxuan stunned slightly and then sweated.

“What are you all looking at me for? ”

Professor Wei Hong naturally said: "Your relationship with Professor Lu is the best… From the standpoint of success, it would be more appropriate for you to ask him for help. ”

David nodded head-on to make peace.

“I think so, too. ”

The last time he went to Jinling Airport, he really didn't want to experience it again.

“Even if you look at me like that, I'm his brother, but... he's in lockdown right now, and it's almost impossible to reach him. ”

As he spoke, Luo Wenxuan's face couldn't help but show a helpless expression.

To be honest, his cheap brother is probably not as good as that guy's apprentice.

Professor David did not die yet and tried to speak in a final effort.

“But... how do you know if you don't try? ”

“Nothing, but even if you take 10,000 steps back and contact him, he is unlikely to devote a lot of time to drilling for an idea that is unlikely to materialize… unless it is really worth it. ”

shrugged his shoulders, Rowenxuan continued.

“So the only way for us to do this now is to write our speculations in a paper. The problem would have been solved if it had attracted his interest. If not… I think it may not be worth wasting too much time on. ”

That's the best way.

According to Rowenxuan's knowledge of the Ark, although he would hardly respond to outside information when shut down, he would not be completely off the grid.

At least he'll follow up on the latest research.

If there is no response…

It can only be said that the ark does not like their speculation.

If that's the case, Luo Wenxuan thinks they can give up.

After all, the warp speed sailing sounds a bit fantastic. To be honest, he has been in a state of suspicion until now. After all, there are more and more reliable explanations besides this most unlikely one.

“That's the only way...”

After a long period of silence, Professor Wei Hong went to a difficult place and, although he did not like to wait for an uncertain thing, there did not seem to be a better way.

“… I will try to describe this conjecture a little more reliably in mathematical terms. ”

Luo Wenxuan looked at him and nodded.

“Please. ”

The three are preparing to return to previous discussions.

However, at this point, the phone in Rowenxuan's pocket suddenly rang.

“Hold on… I'm going to pick up the phone. ”

As Secretary-General of the IMCRC, he always had to answer a large number of working calls every day.

Though he also wanted to leave those things aside, given that a president was irrelevant, he could only resist the work that would otherwise have belonged to the Ark with a hard scalp.

Nor did it appear that the electricity showed that Luo Wenxuan pressed the connection key and walked to the side.

Wei Hong and Davik also left him alone for the time being, stopped talking and waited for their teammates to return in a quiet thought.

But at this point, they didn't wait for Rowenxuan to come back, they waited for a strange cry from afar. The voice was probably Professor Ross's, but it was pulled very thinly, very long--

It's like a curly space being suddenly straightened out.

Davik glanced at Wei Hong and said.

“What's he talking about? ”

“… do not know. ”

With a glance at Luo Wenxuan's direction of departure, when Weihong hesitated to go over and see what really happened, he saw Luo Wenxuan's phone with a trance, and the whole person walked back like a sleepwalker.

See Professor Davik hurried up and looked at him and asked.

“What happened? ”

Wei Hong stood up, too.

“Whose phone? ”

“The Ark…”

Answering the latter question, Rowenxuan swallowed his mouth and said in a voice as if he was still awake, "Didn't we just... discuss whether stable oscillating Z particles can produce stable bending in space? ”

“Is…?! ”

Looking at the colorful earthquake and suddenly reacting, Professor Weihong, Luo Wenxuan's eyes straightened to the bottom.

“Yes.”

“He's done. ”

“Just a few minutes ago. ”

“… in mathematical terms. ”
