Chapter 174: Trash

Chu Qiguang really didn't want to stand out and cause trouble. All he wanted was to be left alone in peace so he could study and accumulate power. Ideally, he wanted to keep cultivating until he became an unfathomable, invincible master before getting into any conflicts.

I just want to be a chill guy, but the cruel hand of fate has cursed me with this illness. Everything has been going so smoothly these past few days that I almost forgot about my condition.

As he felt the discomfort beginning to build, he cast an annoyed glance at Cheng Ming's group and warned, "You better not mess with me, or you're going to regret it!"

"I'm going to regret it?" Cheng Ming chortled. "What are you going to do?"

"Get out! Non-believers like you aren't welcome here!" the other trainees around Cheng Ming sneered.

Having grown up in a Daoist temple, Chi Shude was the most devout believer among all the trainees, and he also chimed in, "You should leave, Chu Qiguang."

Cheng Ming immediately became more confident after seeing that even Chi Shude had taken his side. He glowered at Chu Qiguang and snapped, "Piss off!"

The aggression building in Chu Qiguang's chest was becoming too much to bear. He swept his gaze over Cheng Ming's group and sneered, "Trash!"

"What did you just say?" Cheng Ming snapped as he sprang to his feet.

"Don't misunderstand, I didn't call you trash," Chu Qiguang said.

Cheng Ming had only just sat back down when Chu Qiguang clarified, "I'm saying all of you are trash!"

Cheng Ming and his three companions were furious. They sprang to their feet in unison before launching themselves at Chu Qiguang. The first one barreled forward like a charging elephant, swinging a powerful punch at Chu Qiguang's right side. The second one lashed out with a sweeping kick at Chu Qiguang's legs, intending to cut him down from below. The third one raised his right palm, which had turned bright red from an injection of qi and blood, then charged at Chu Qiguang from the left.

At the same time, Cheng Ming had sprang into action. The ground shattered beneath his feet as he shot forward like lightning, covering over ten meters in the blink of an eye while thrusting a single finger toward Chu Qiguang. His finger resembled a sharp sword, and its tip was filled with such incredibly condensed qi and blood that it glowed red. It created a shrill whistling sound as it pierced through the air.

There were no weaklings among the prodigies chosen by the Demon Vanquishing Department, and in a four-on-one fight, no one was optimistic about Chu Qiguang's chances.

I'd say Li He is probably the only one who can fend off all four of them at once, Chi Shude thought to himself.

All the while, Zhang Haizhu watched with tightly furrowed brows. As a former bandit, he also had next to no belief in the Profound Origin Dao Lord, so he felt a sense of camaraderie with Chu Qiguang. He couldn't help but place himself in Chu Qiguang's shoes.

What should he do? There's no way he can take on all four of them at once, but it would be utterly humiliating if he were forced out of the cafeteria like this.

However, in the next instant, Zhang Haizhu realized that his concerns had been unnecessary.

Chu Qiguang didn't bother to dodge. He simply reached out toward the fist swinging at him from the right and caught it with ease, as if it were nothing more than a toy.

The trainee who had thrown the punch felt as if his fist had been caught in a vise. No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break free.

At the same time, Chu Qiguang stomped his left foot into the ground and took the second trainee's sweeping kick head-on.

A loud thump rang out, and the second trainee felt as if he had just kicked a steel pole. Not only was he unable to move Chu Qiguang in the slightest, but his leg was in excruciating pain from the impact. For a moment, it felt like it had been disabled.

Chu Qiguang raised his left hand to meet the incoming palm strike. The third trainee felt as if his palm had struck a rubber ball, and all the force behind his attack was redirected toward one of his companions.

Finally, there was Cheng Ming, who was charging straight at Chu Qiguang with his finger aimed at his chest. In response, Chu Qiguang withdrew his left hand and also extended a finger toward Cheng Ming's chest.

Cheng Ming immediately sensed that Chu Qiguang's finger strike would inflict severe injuries if it landed, so he hurriedly changed the trajectory of his own attack, sweeping his finger horizontally toward Chu Qiguang's wrist.

A rapid series of blows was exchanged. Cheng Ming intercepted Chu Qiguang's finger several times before glancing at his three companions, only to discover that none of them had managed to leave even a bruise on Chu Qiguang.

Cheng Ming and his three companions sprang back in unison, while Chu Qiguang swept a cold gaze over them and sneered, "What did I say? Trash will always be trash!"

"What right do you have to call us trash?" Cheng Ming yelled furiously. "You may have withstood our attacks that time, but if the fight continues, you're undoubtedly going to be defeated!"

All of a sudden, Cheng Ming noticed that the surrounding trainees were all looking at him with strange expressions. At the same time, he felt a cold sensation on his chest.

He looked down and discovered that the front of his chest had already been torn to shreds. A series of gashes had also been sliced into his exposed skin, forming the word "trash".

Wha... When did he...

All of Cheng Ming's confidence and fighting spirit instantly vanished at the terrifying sight.

Chu Qiguang sneered as he pointed at Cheng Ming's chest. "Oh look, it's your name!"

Cheng Ming's face instantly flushed bright red with humiliation, and he stormed out of the cafeteria. His three companions also hurriedly fled with ashen complexions.
