Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 267: Descending from the Clouds into a Sea of Flowers

She plucked a cloud with her own hands and wove herself a garment of dreams.

Faye Yardley was indeed on a cloud, working unhurriedly. Despite her clumsy fingers when it came to weaving, she was using the cloud fluff to fashion herself a cloak. Or perhaps, it was more of a simple parachute—something to cushion her fall when she jumped.

She couldn’t be bothered with how the others were preparing. She had this cloud all to herself, so with no one to compete with, she could take her sweet time. She wasn’t in a hurry anyway.

As she continued to weave, Faye Yardley let out a soft "Ah!" ’On the bus, I definitely remembered that I wanted to try inviting Yvonne Lynch over,’ she thought. ’How could I have completely forgotten the moment I got off?’

’That’s so weird. Is my memory really that bad?’

’Or is something influencing me, making me subconsciously forget about Yvonne Lynch?’

’Something’s very wrong.’

Faye Yardley couldn’t help but frown. ’Oh well, now isn’t a good time to call anyway.’

’I have to remember to try after we get out of Dreamland Park.’

AHHHHHH~~~

Screams seemed to be the standard background music here.

But suddenly, an even shriller female scream tore through the air as someone came falling right toward Faye Yardley.

Cole Kensington shuffled and crawled his way back to his senses. He had just moved out of Faye Yardley’s shadow when he heard the scream plummeting toward him from above.

The person fell past the edge of their cloud. Then, one, two, three long octopus tentacles shot up, wrapped around Cole in an instant, and started dragging him down and away from the cloud.

Sophie Chapman was the perfect embodiment of an octopus right now. And Cole Kensington wasn’t the only one she had latched onto. As they were all pulled down, she should have been at the very bottom of the pile. Instead, her body somehow puffed up, turning her into a makeshift parachute for everyone else.

Seeing this, the others refrained from attacking her tentacles. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement.

"Kingston, you go down first, I’ll be down right away."

Faye Yardley’s voice, drifting down from above, stopped Cole Kensington from making his next move.

Sophie Chapman had already lost two tentacles in the Infinite Tunnel, a significant loss for her. However, given enough time, she could eventually grow them back.

But that was only if she could get out of here alive.

Now she was starting to regret following Faye Yardley. She’d gotten very little material, *sob sob*. The thought just made her sadder, and the wounds from her lost tentacles ached terribly.

When Faye said she’d be right down, she meant it. She slipped on the cloud garment she had woven, leaped off the edge, and began to plummet at an incredible speed.

At a certain point, the cloud garment billowed out, momentarily halting her descent.

She wasn’t sure if she had used too much cloud fluff or woven the garment too large, but she ended up just drifting lazily through the air. A gust of wind could even lift her higher.

As it turned out, falling to one’s death wasn’t the only risk during the descent. Other things would pop out for a sneak attack.

They came from the left, then the right, and it was incredibly annoying.

Faye Yardley snorted, stored her hand-woven cloud garment in her backpack, and then began to plummet at an unbelievable speed.

In an instant, she shot past Cole Kensington and the others.

Just as the ground came into view, she summoned Bella.

Bella materialized out of thin air, catching Faye Yardley on its back. Its four legs pawed at the void, and it began to gallop through the sky.

Circling back to Cole Kensington’s side, Faye Yardley drew Light Wound and pressed it against Sophie Chapman. "Let him go, or I won’t be so courteous."

Sophie Chapman was startled by the sudden appearance of the Skeletal Warhorse and Faye Yardley beside her. She knew Faye wasn’t joking. As much as she didn’t want to let go, she valued her life more and retracted the tentacles wrapped around Cole Kensington.

The instant Cole Kensington started to fall, Faye Yardley pulled him up onto the horse.

Then Faye Yardley began riding Bella around the sky, hunting down the small aerial monsters that kept popping out to attack.

Just like the mobs in the Gravity Zone, any monster Faye Yardley killed dissolved into smoke and flowed into her body.

[Agility +1]

To Faye Yardley, the system notification was the sweetest sound.

Just as she was about to hunt down another wave of them, a gentle, invisible force delivered them directly into a sea of flowers.

"Tsk, couldn’t you have been a little more generous? I barely killed any."

Despite her words, Faye couldn’t hide her delight.

Bella paced restlessly beside her, so Faye simply recalled it to the Mount Storage.

A sea of flowers. It was truly a sea of flowers. Flowers of all shapes, sizes, and colors, growing at different heights, created a dazzling, dizzying vista.

Finding Eamon in this endless sea of flowers would be no easy task, but Faye could, in fact, locate him through the system.

Right now, the little green dot on her map was quite far from her position.

’This is my final stop, but it was only Eamon’s second. He must have moved on to the next one already.’

’Well, it’s not like we have any other direction to go in. We might as well head toward Eamon.’

’As for this whole hide-and-seek thing... whatever.’

She used the system to snap and save several photos of the beautiful scenery from different angles.

Rainbow No. 10 spoke up, reminding her, "Oh, but you *have* to play the hide-and-seek game."

"Find what?"

Rainbow No. 10 blinked. "Find me."

Faye’s hand shot out and snatched it. Holding it tight, she said, "There. Found you."

Rainbow No. 10: ...

"It hasn’t started yet."

"I say the game started the moment we set foot in this sea of flowers, didn’t it? You’re not the only one who gets to make the rules." Faye’s voice was calm, but carried an undeniable authority.

An expression of disbelief crossed the No. 10 cat’s face. But with its neck in her grip, it didn’t dare argue, especially since it could feel the pressure on its throat gradually increasing.

It had to agree if it wanted to live.

The black-and-red kitten next to Cole Kensington had agreed long ago. As expected, it had chosen to just go with the flow from the very start.

Just as it felt it was about to be choked to death, Rainbow No. 10 chickened out and agreed.

It couldn’t understand. ’I’m made of smoke, so how can she even grab me?’

’I’ve always been able to just drift right through people’s hands before.’

Of course, Faye Yardley wasn’t about to kindly explain how she was able to grab hold of its very life force.

So, for the time being, she could move about the sea of flowers freely. The "find the cat" hide-and-seek task was already complete.

The only difference was that Number 10, following beside her, had become completely listless, as if it had lost all its vitality.

Faye Yardley confirmed their direction and said, "Let’s go. We’re heading that way."

"Can the flowers here be picked?"

No one answered her question. Clearly, the now-sulking Number 10 had no intention of speaking.

Just as Faye was considering whether she should just destroy Number 10, the black-and-red one spoke up. "You can’t just pick them."

"Then how can I pick them?"
