Chapter 237: New Talisman, Unknown Effects

Since Faye Yardley’s needs weren’t very high, she quickly agreed to Zachary Pierce’s first proposal: they would clear out the immediate area, exchange their points for what they wanted, and then head back.

That evening, everyone gathered to open the Point Shop and redeem items. Faye Yardley suddenly turned to Cole Kensington, curious. "You get points for killing zombies, right? Can you open the Point Shop to spend them?"

Cole Kensington shook his head. "Doesn’t seem like it. I need your authorization to open it."

"Huh? My authorization? Let me see."

Faye Yardley quickly found a plus sign next to her own point total. Tapping it revealed Cole Kensington’s points. She could give them all to him, transfer a portion, or even choose to give him none at all.

’This employment contract is a little too harsh on the one who was brought along,’ she thought. ’All the power lies with the client.’

Of course, she had no intention of keeping his points, so she transferred all of them to him and gave him permission to make his own purchases.

"There, you can exchange for whatever you want now. By the way, do you have a backpack? Or, like, an item with storage space?"

Since everyone who entered the survival-at-sea game had been given a backpack by the system, their need for storage items was practically zero.

Cole Kensington raised his hand, revealing a ring on his thumb. "A storage ring. I don’t have a backpack like you mentioned, sister."

"Oh. Well, if you want to redeem any large items, I can carry them back for you."

"Thank you, sister."

Faye Yardley now had a slightly deeper understanding of the system’s various contracts.

After some thought, she gave him a bit of advice. "You should use your points to get some potions, some High Level Body Refining Pills, and some clothes. The rest is up to you."

"Okay."

Faye Yardley then turned her attention to her own Point Shop. She had even more points this time—53,982 all by herself.

She thought about her raft and immediately spent fifty thousand points on an Intermediate Breeding Room Upgrade Coupon.

With the remaining points, she bought various grain and vegetable seeds, some chicks, a few Space Stones, and other basic materials.

She preferred chicken and eggs to duck and goose anyway.

It was already 10 PM by the time they returned to the raft.

Faye Yardley told Cole Kensington and Bella to go get some rest. After dropping off the chicks, she went straight to her room, washed up, and got into bed. Everything else could wait until morning.

At 7:30 the next morning, Faye emerged from the training room. After freshening up, she felt full of energy as she watered the Magic Vine. She picked up the Green Egg and examined it, but it hadn’t changed in the slightest.

As she went downstairs, a black shadow zipped past, and Blackwood landed right on her shoulder. Faye expertly pulled out a small dried fish and tossed it to him.

He swallowed it in one gulp. Blackwood let out a happy meow and affectionately nuzzled Faye Yardley’s cheek.

"Sister, breakfast is ready."

"Okay, I’m just going to upgrade our breeding room. Oh, I bought some chicks yesterday. Are they still alive?"

"They’re alive and well in the breeding room."

After using the Upgrade Coupon, Faye Yardley inspected the new model and thought it looked pretty good.

RING RING~

"Faye, you’re back from the dungeon! Grandpa didn’t come and bother you, did he?"

"Yeah, I’m back. Gregory Yardley wouldn’t dare bother me, so he went looking for you instead?"

Ethan Yardley was suddenly at a loss for words. "I know you don’t like him, but he’s still our grandfather, after all. In front of other people..."

"Ethan Yardley, stop right there. Are you out of your mind? The moment I step out my door, I’m surrounded by a vast ocean. What ’other people’ are going to see anything? And even if they did, you think I’d care? Don’t tell me you’re getting soft and want to help them."

Ethan Yardley quickly shook his head. "No, no! I was just worried that you’re young and thin-skinned. I was afraid you’d get provoked if he said something on the public channel."

Faye Yardley snorted. "You’re overthinking it. Your sister isn’t that soft-hearted. Did you bring back the sliced fish congee I asked you to get?"

"I did, I did! Don’t worry, I already sent it over. Just don’t forget to claim the Red Envelope."

"Okay. If that’s all, you can get back to your own business."

Ethan Yardley hung up and slapped his forehead. ’Well, that was a pointless conversation.’ Still, it looked like his sister’s mood was as stable as ever. ’And stable is good.’

After claiming the Red Envelope, Faye Yardley gave a portion to Willow. "Willow, come try this sliced fish congee made by The Merfolk. It’s delicious. After you taste it, see if you can try to replicate it."

Looking at the sliced fish congee, Willow nodded. "Okay, sister. Thank you, sister. It already smells delicious."

"Meow~"

Seeing Blackwood suddenly leap onto the table and stare at the congee, Faye gave him a portion too. "Here, you can have some. A cat’s love for fish really is timeless."

Faye casually took out the Dungeon 5 Invitation Card, studying the design on it as she ate.

"Are you going into another dungeon, sister?"

"Yeah."

Willow looked at the Invitation Card with a hint of worry. "That looks like a solo dungeon invitation card. Does that mean only you can go, sister?"

"Meow~"

Both of them turned to look at Blackwood. Faye asked, uncertain, "You mean you want to go with me?"

After finishing his congee, Blackwood used a paw to pull out a napkin, wiped his mouth, and then looked at Faye and nodded seriously.

Faye was completely baffled. "Your function is to provide some defense for the raft, right? So after upgrading, you can protect me now, too?"

"Meow!"

Faye stroked Blackwood’s head. "Alright. In a bit, when I use the Invitation Card, if you can come along, then you can come along."

’There’s no point in bringing Bella this time,’ she thought. ’I probably won’t need to rush anywhere in an amusement park, right?’

’It’s a solo dungeon, so I’m not planning to take Cole Kensington, either. If he’s forced to stay in the shadows for too long, who knows if it might cause some kind of irreversible damage.’

After some thought, she decided to call Zephyr Sterling. Thankfully, the call connected quickly. "Hey, Mr. Zephyr Sterling... uh, hello there, Master."

On the video call, an old Daoist’s head popped into view beside Zephyr Sterling. "Ha, hello there, little lady. You two talk, I won’t interrupt."

He said he wouldn’t interrupt, but he watched from the side with a face full of undisguised curiosity.

Zephyr Sterling said, "Yardley, don’t mind my master. Just tell me what’s on your mind."

"I just wanted to ask if you’ve had any success creating other types of talismans."

"Right now, besides the Exorcism Talismans that I’m best at, the only other one I’ve had relative success with is the Featherweight Talisman. When you use it, your body becomes light enough to float and sway with the breeze. If the wind is strong enough, it could blow you right away."

"That sounds interesting. Can you spare a few for me?"

Zephyr Sterling nodded readily. "No problem. There’s another kind my master drew. It’s called a Golden Light Talisman, and he says it can harm ghosts and other spiritual entities. We don’t have any test subjects over here, so its effects are unknown. You should take a couple for self-defense."
