Chapter 221: Meeting Nora Nash Again, Lucky Star
Faye Yardley looked at the potions with their bizarre effects and couldn’t fathom how bored the people who bought them must be.
However, she still spent 50 silver coins to win two pills at the auction that could temporarily change a person’s skin color.
’Since I’m already here,’ Faye Yardley thought, ’it would be good to blend in a little.’
’And it would be pretty funny if my brother ate one and turned green or purplish-blue.’
’They’re just prank potions, after all. The effects aren’t permanent.’
In the end, some genuinely good items did appear, such as a potion to accelerate Merfolk evolution, pills to help young Merfolk learn to speak quickly, and so on.
But for Faye Yardley, none of this stuff was of any damn use.
"Is it all just things for you Merfolk?"
"Don’t worry. If you can’t find what you’re looking for today, the grand auction tomorrow will have everything you want."
Faye Yardley raised her eyebrows and began to look forward to tomorrow.
The final item was a potion that could regenerate lost limbs. Faye Yardley was about to bid, but Bella Dillon stopped her, saying that if she wanted one, there was no need to pay such a high price here.
After all, some branches of The Merfolk had the innate Talent of limb regeneration.
You could just buy that kind of potion directly from the shops they ran.
Of course, not just anyone could find the private little shops that sold such special potions.
Faye Yardley naturally trusted Bella Dillon, so she restrained her hand, which was itching to join the bidding.
By the time they left the potion auction, it was already noon. Bella Dillon said she would take her for some good food, as there were several floors of restaurants right there in the auction house building.
She followed Bella Dillon into an elevator, and they went straight to a barbecue buffet on the tenth floor.
Rows upon rows of various seafood were displayed prominently, which Faye Yardley still found a little strange.
"Oh, come on, I already told you that Merfolk eat seafood too! The ones that haven’t developed intelligence or language are just food. Don’t worry, we don’t eat our own kind."
As she spoke, Bella Dillon motioned for her to relax and choose whatever she wanted to eat.
"Ah, let’s find a private room first. You can just have someone bring us whatever you want to eat."
"It’s your territory, so I’ll leave it to you."
On the way to the private room, a burly man appeared before Faye Yardley. His serious expression broke into a smile upon seeing her. "Sister-in-law—oh, Miss Yardley. Didn’t expect to see you here. Big Bro is just over there. Please, follow me."
Faye Yardley hadn’t expected to run into Nora Nash and his men here, either. She glanced at Bella Dillon, and seeing no objection, she agreed.
They walked from the main hall deep into the restaurant, arriving at the largest, most luxurious private room. The burly man opened the door and shouted inside, "Big Bro, look who’s here!"
Nora Nash was also a little surprised to see Faye Yardley, but mostly, he was happy. He beckoned to her, "Faye, come on in."
Faye Yardley went in, but when Bella Dillon tried to follow, the burly man blocked her. Bella snapped, "Hey, what are you doing? I came with Faye. She’s my guest!"
"Mike, please let the young lady in as well."
Although Nora Nash allowed Bella Dillon to enter, he still invited Faye Yardley to sit on a nearby sofa and casually created a soundproof barrier to prevent their conversation from being overheard.
Faye Yardley looked at Nora Nash and smiled. "Nora, you look even more handsome than before. You’ve added a mysterious air to your usual melancholy. I heard you were in seclusion—is this the result?"
"It’s all thanks to the Talent Stone you gave me. I was just wondering how to find you, and I ran into you right after coming out of seclusion." Nora Nash smiled slightly at the girl before him. "You look much stronger than before. It seems you’ve been working hard. Oh, right. This is for you. It’ll be easier to stay in touch."
As he spoke, he took out a brand-new All-World Communication Phone and gave it to Faye Yardley.
He had always admired those who were both talented and hardworking. Besides, he owed her his life.
"I’m glad it helped you. But isn’t it a bit rude to exclude Bella like that?"
"I don’t know her."
Faye Yardley blinked. "But she’s my friend. Oh, right, let me add you."
She stored the new phone in her backpack and added Nora Nash as a friend.
Nora Nash dispelled the soundproof Barrier and said, "Are you here for tomorrow’s auction? Mike, bring over the auction catalog. See if there’s anything you like."
He then took out a card. "This is the keycard for the room on the top floor. You take it. I’ll just get another one."
Bella Dillon was not pleased. "Hey, even if you are an Island Master, you can’t be so overbearing! This isn’t your Crystal Isle. Faye is my guest, so of course she’s staying with me. Faye, you tell him. Where are you going to stay?"
Nora Nash didn’t give Faye Yardley a chance to feel awkward. He pushed the card directly into her hand while directing a faint, oppressive aura at Bella Dillon. His voice remained placid. "Since Faye is attending the auction, it’s more convenient for her to stay here. It saves her from traveling back and forth."
He then said softly to Faye Yardley, "If you stay here, the auction house will give you a special discount. The room is big enough. You can invite your friend to stay with you."
Faye Yardley looked at the keycard in her hand, then looked up at Nora Nash with a charming smile. "Alright, thank you. Bella, why don’t you stay here with me tonight?"
Bella Dillon rushed over to hug Faye Yardley, then shot Nora Nash a triumphant, brow-raised smirk. "Okay! Then after we eat, I’ll take you to look around nearby."
"I have other guests. You can eat here. I’ll be next door." Nora Nash said this to Faye Yardley. After speaking, he got up and walked out.
Faye Yardley had actually wanted to say that she and Bella Dillon were fine eating somewhere else.
But Nora had clearly not given her a chance to refuse.
Soon, waiters began bringing in platters of food, one after another, and asked if they needed help with the grilling.
Bella Dillon’s eyes lit up when she saw the ingredients. She waved a hand dismissively. "You can go. We’ll do it ourselves."
Once the waiters had left, Bella Dillon couldn’t wait to speak. "Tsk tsk, this treatment from Island Master Nash is a bit over the top. Not a single one of these ingredients is ordinary. Quick, try some! They’re good for you."
They were indeed extraordinary. Faye Yardley never imagined that just from one meal, her Spirit and Constitution Attributes would both increase by a point.
’Tsk tsk, it seems like every time I run into Nora Nash, I hit the jackpot. He’s practically my lucky star.’
Bella Dillon rubbed her stomach and let out a satisfied burp. "Ahh, thanks to you, I got to eat a feast I’d never normally get to have."
Faye Yardley smiled and said, "Now that we’re full, let’s get going. I’m really looking forward to that little shop you mentioned."
Before they left, Faye Yardley packed up all the leftover ingredients and stored them in her backpack.
’Good things shouldn’t be wasted.’
