Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Cole Kensington rode Bella in circles on the surface of the sea, but Faye Yardley never emerged. He couldn’t help but worry.

He wanted to dive into the sea to find her, but every time the thought crossed his mind, Bella would gallop a couple of quick laps before stopping again.

"Alright, alright. I’ll trust her, do what she said, and wait patiently."

Just as he finished speaking, a figure rolled in with the waves.

She emerged directly from a wave, then strode across the water toward him.

"Hahaha... Kingston, Bella, I’m back! Let’s go, we’re heading home!"

Faye Yardley didn’t mount the horse. Instead, she strode across the waves directly back to the raft.

"Thanks for your hard work. Kingston, hurry back, wash up, and change into some clean clothes. I’ll have Willow bring you some ginger soup in a bit."

"Faye, you’re even stronger than before."

"Mm, of course. Now hurry back."

As she spoke, Faye Yardley patted Bella’s head, urging her to head back as well.

It seemed this storm would likely continue for quite a while before letting up.

Back in her room, Faye Yardley was in high spirits.

Willow Yardley had brewed a large pot of ginger soup. Not only did Kingston drink it, but Faye Yardley and Bella couldn’t escape either.

Bella couldn’t understand why a Skeletal Warhorse like itself had to drink ginger soup. But faced with Willow Yardley’s grim expression, it obediently drank every last drop. WAAAH...

Ginger had never been a part of Bella’s diet before.

Willow Yardley took the empty bowl and closed the door for Faye Yardley.

Watching the door close, the smile on Faye Yardley’s face deepened. She thought for a moment, then went to sit on the sofa on her small balcony.

Next to her was a small, orange-glowing lamp. She picked up the Green Egg and toyed with it in her hands for a while. "You little thing, why won’t you come out?"

She held it up to the light. "Ah, I think I can see your silhouette. A pretty one, at that. I just don’t know if you’re a boy or a girl. But either is fine. Oh well, no rush. If you came out now, I wouldn’t even know what to feed you."

Then she turned her gaze to the vine, which had grown taller. Seeing it consciously drop two of its leaves, Faye Yardley leaned back on the sofa and said, "Little vine, don’t be anxious. You don’t have to compare yourself to the Bramble; it just got lucky. The energy it could absorb is gone now, so from now on, it’s in the same boat as you. I don’t even know where to find more."

’It’d be nice to have my own territory. An island would be even better.’

’This hellish weather outside probably won’t be any better tomorrow. Maybe I should use my Island Entry Order.’

’Yes, that’s a good idea. I’ll use an Island Entry Order tomorrow.’

She tried calling her brother, but no one picked up. ’Looks like he’s inside their guild headquarters.’

’What a miserable headquarters. It doesn’t even have a signal.’

Faye Yardley mentally gave her brother’s guild a bad review. ’So many people, and they still haven’t fixed the signal problem.’

She thought about who else to call and finally dialed Master Veridian. He picked up instantly.

"Master, want to go to a random island for fun tomorrow?"

"An island? Yes, yes! An island like the last one would be great."

Faye Yardley pouted. "Not happening. I bet only Ms. Chandler has the connections to find an island like that. The ones I can go to are all nice places."

’They really are nice places,’ she thought. ’Not much danger for me, and the rewards are huge.’

"That’s fine too. What should this old Master prepare?"

"Your Talisman Paper, the more the better. As for anything else, just bring whatever you’ve got."

Master Veridian chuckled. "Alright, I’m starting to get the hang of your rules. I’ll get an eight-hour Invitation Card and send it to you in a bit. By the way, you still have some of that Deep Crimson Tree Sap, right? Think you could spare some for me?"

"If you trade something for it, sure. I’m not giving it away for free."

"Gorgeous Yardley, you used to be such a generous girl. How have you become so mercenary all of a sudden?"

"Hmph, hmph~ Trade me something good for it."

"Alright, alright. You kids are going to bleed this old Master dry." Though Master Veridian said this, he wasn’t stingy. He directly sent over a small, black digital box he had recently acquired.

After accepting it, Faye Yardley remembered she had a large one. She immediately forwarded the small one to her brother. This way, his small guild headquarters would finally have an external signal.

’TSK TSK TSK, I feel like I should own at least half of my brother’s guild by now.’

She sent half a bottle of the sap and three thorn flowers to the Master.

"Thanks, Master. This is great stuff. I’ll contact you tomorrow morning when I’m about to make landfall."

"Sounds good, talk to you then. By the way, how about bringing my senior apprentice along?"

"Sure, just have Mr. Zephyr Sterling get an Invitation Card ready."

After hanging up, Faye Yardley put the Green Egg back in its box. She got up and looked outside. The world was pitch-black, occasionally illuminated by flashes of lightning. Each flash revealed only a small area, making the churning dangers of the night seem even more intense.

Faye Yardley turned and went back inside. This was the first time she’d gone to bed before ten o’clock.

Faye Yardley received two eight-hour Invitation Cards and four explosive talismans from Zephyr Sterling.

The next day, she woke up on time. This time, she didn’t enter the training room. She figured since she’d already decided to go to an island, she should relax a bit beforehand.

She took out a white Island Entry Order and confirmed its use.

[You have activated an Ordinary Island Entry Order. You will arrive at the island in 1.5 hours. We wish you a pleasant trip!]

Once the time was set, Faye Yardley sent the details to the Master. He was also up early and replied immediately.

No one knew what kind of island it would be. Faye Yardley checked her backpack, making sure her weapons and Talisman Arrows were ready. After some thought, she went to the workbench and crafted 10 torches, 10 Basic Iron Axes, and 2 handcarts.

These things might not be useful, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

After she was done, she happily went downstairs for breakfast. Her brother’s call came in.

"Faye, what’s that thing you gave me yesterday for?"

"The digital box can be used as a signal receiver. Just take it into your guild headquarters, and you’ll figure it out."

Ethan Yardley grinned so wide his teeth showed. "That’s great, Faye! You’re really my treasure of a little sister."

"Tch~"

"By the way, besides this, got any other good things you’re thinking of for your big brother?"

"Actually, yes. I’m heading to an island in an hour and a half. I’ve already invited Mr. Zephyr Sterling and the Master. You can come too if you want. After all, I’ve got Kingston with me, so making a five-person team won’t be a problem."

Ethan Yardley felt his status in his sister’s eyes was being seriously challenged. He immediately said, "Invite me before you make landfall! I’m going with you!"
