Chapter 306: A New Event Will Begin
Whatever Faye Yardley was thinking, Zachary Pierce was very interested in the deal. He wasn’t dissatisfied in the slightest; in fact, he was a bit eager.
Zachary Pierce knew Faye Yardley had the virus serum from the Zombie Dungeon. The odds of gaining a superpower versus turning into a zombie after using it were about fifty-fifty, and no one knew for sure what the exact outcome would be.
Even if someone was willing to try, they didn’t dare casually use people for experiments.
If things went wrong, they might just turn a normal human into a member of the Zombie Clan that also had superpowers.
On a personal level, that was an unacceptable outcome.
These new Superpower Crystals, however, were something they had never seen or even heard of before, and the researchers’ enthusiasm surged.
If it was really possible to awaken a person’s superpower with no side effects...
Who didn’t dream of being a superhero?
Faye Yardley called Franklin Yardley and had him relay a message to Village Head Thorne: organize a team to clear out the beasts in the town’s planned industrial zone.
Since she had decided to build a cannery first, the path leading to it needed to be cleared.
It was easy for her to build the factory for them, but the route from their residential area to the factory grounds had to be secured first.
The factory area was on the other side of a small hill, so to speak. The path to it ran through a gentle, flat slope between two hills.
There was no helping it. Although the population wasn’t large now, she believed more people would be arriving on the island soon.
Therefore, sticking to the plan would be beneficial in the long run.
At the very least, it would prevent people from eventually feeling like they were living in an industrial zone.
The deal with Zachary Pierce was completed quickly. In addition to two blueprints for automated production workshops, his side also gave her 10 Physical Energy Pills. They explained that these were system-recognized Energy Supplement Pills that they had developed themselves. Since they were cheap to produce, people would no longer have to run Dungeons to earn points specifically for exchanging Physical Potions.
They also gave them to her to test whether the Physical Energy Pills were still effective for a Third Tier player.
Faye Yardley was more than willing to be the test subject for this.
She was a person of action. On the plot of land in the industrial zone closest to the residential area, she immediately built a fruit cannery. It was the result of combining one of the automated production workshop blueprints with a fruit cannery production blueprint.
Of course, Wyatt Thorne couldn’t be the factory manager. He was already busy enough mediating and resolving various conflicts, not to mention organizing teams to clear beasts from the island, go sea fishing, cultivate wasteland, and so on.
So, Faye Yardley’s thoughts naturally turned to Leo Sloan. Among all the people, she was more familiar with him and had enough faith in his character and abilities.
’It’s just a cannery,’ she thought. ’It should be fine to let him manage it, right?’
So she called Franklin Yardley again and asked him to find Leo Sloan. She needed to discuss this matter with him face-to-face.
As for the specific operational details, he could sort out the framework after he agreed. Faye felt that all she needed to do was give the final nod of approval and provide the compensation.
After the conversation, Faye Yardley hung up the phone and couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.
Willow Yardley came over with a glass of juice. "Sister, you look exhausted."
"It’s mental exhaustion," Faye Yardley said, taking the juice and downing it in one gulp. "I originally thought being an Island Master would be a cool thing, but now I’m just finding out it’s an incredibly troublesome job. I haven’t seen any of the benefits yet, but the troubles are already endless."
At 8:00 PM sharp, the system’s announcement rang out.
[Server-wide Announcement: Dear players, good evening. The majority of August has passed, and our event has been long in coming. Have you missed us? The new event that players have been eagerly anticipating will begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM sharp. Let us all look forward to it together.]x3
[WTF, again? Missed you? I didn’t fucking miss you at all!]
[Tell me about it. But what kind of event is it tomorrow? What have people been getting from chests recently?]
[I got a pumpkin carriage and 4 transforming mouse dolls...]
[Crystal shoes, Little Red Riding Hood, a red apple, a matchbox...]
[How come you guys are all getting props from old foreign fairy tales? Why am I different? I got a pair of red embroidered shoes. Soooo scary~]
[Nothing more to say, I have a very bad feeling about this. @Faye Yardley, the nation’s number one beauty, great Island Master, I’m begging you, please let me on the island to be a normal person. Please, please!]
[If you go to the island to be a normal person, you’ll completely lose the chance to become a supreme expert. Are you willing to give that up? Don’t you like the feeling of getting stronger day by day?]
[What are you all talking about? What am I supposed to do, I haven’t gotten anything from a chest!]
[Which bastards were actually looking forward to the event? There must have been too many people wanting one, that’s why the system said that. Dammit! (〃>皿<)]
[...]
The messages in the world channel were scrolling by at lightning speed. So many people were tagging Faye Yardley that even though she wasn’t watching the channel, she still received all sorts of news from her other friends—especially the requests from a large group of people hoping to get on her island.
Fortunately, neither Zachary Pierce nor her brother had suggested taking their people onto her island.
However, the number of applicants for the tailor recruitment ad she had posted in the large group chat that afternoon was skyrocketing.
But there were only four vacant houses left on the island, so she could only accept four more families.
Next time, she could try to build a high-rise like the one at her brother’s guild headquarters. A single building could house 10-20 families.
’I’ll worry about that after I get the blueprints,’ she thought. ’Even if I accept people now, I can’t just leave them with nowhere to live.’
She dismissed any thoughts of ’two families can just squeeze in together.’ Who would end up in the high-rise? And who would get to stay in the single-family house?
Faye Yardley had no interest in creating unnecessary trouble for herself and Village Head Thorne.
Because the new event was starting at 8:00 AM the next morning, Faye Yardley quickly selected four families from the tailor applicant data provided by Eleanor Jonas and sent them island confirmation letters.
Then she contacted Wyatt Thorne through Franklin Yardley again, telling him that four families would be arriving before 8:00 AM the next morning and asking him to help get them settled.

「Sea Year, August 19th, 8:00 AM sharp.」
[Server-wide Announcement: Dear player friends, the new event, Fairy Tale World, has begun. Everyone will be randomly sent to a fairy tale world and randomly assigned an identity. Please be careful not to break the rules of the Fairy Tale World.]
[Friendly Reminder 1: Rules can be modified by items. Breaking a rule will result in death. Following the rules within the Fairy Tale World will keep you safe.]
[Friendly Reminder 2: Please act according to your assigned identity. Otherwise, you are very likely to break a rule directly.]
[Finally, we wish you all a pleasant game! (*^▽^*)]
Everyone heard the system’s announcement. After it repeated three times, they had all committed it to memory.
Faye Yardley smiled at the worried faces of Cole Kensington and Eamon before her figure vanished from the raft.
