"I’m type AB. I’ll donate blood!"

"You should go get checked by the nurse first..."

"No need. I’m her uncle. My blood can save her!"

Byron Shaw gave Nathan Rhodes a reassuring look, then followed the doctor into the operating room.

Nathan Rhodes stood frozen in place. ’Georgia Thorne actually had a miscarriage.’

’It’s all because of me!’

’If I hadn’t taken Georgia to the exhibition, she wouldn’t have climbed that ladder, and she definitely wouldn’t have had a miscarriage. It’s all my fault.’

A short while later, Byron Shaw emerged from the operating room, his face pale.

Nathan Rhodes’s eyes were red from crying. "I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I really didn’t know Georgia was pregnant!"

"I told you it’s okay. I’m here for everything!" Byron Shaw glanced back at the operating room. ’She probably doesn’t even know it herself yet.’

When Georgia Thorne was moved from the operating room to a regular ward, she was still unconscious, her face frighteningly pale.

Nathan Rhodes sat by the bed, watching her and murmuring, "Georgia, I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. If I’d known, I never would have brought you here!"

Byron Shaw stood to the side, feeling uneasy as he watched Nathan continually blame herself. "You watch over her for now. I’ll go handle the hospital admission paperwork for her."

With that, he took a deep breath and walked out.

Perhaps due to the anesthesia, Georgia felt no pain and slept peacefully.

After a few seconds, Nathan Rhodes’s phone rang. Afraid of waking Georgia, she hurriedly moved away to answer it.

"Miss Rhodes, which hospital are you at? I’ve brought all of Georgia’s things!"

"Wait for me at the hospital entrance. I’ll come down and get them." Nathan Rhodes hung up and hurried out.

The person who brought Georgia’s bag said, "Georgia’s phone kept ringing. I saw it was her husband calling, so I answered. I told him she’d had an accident and was in the hospital. He’s probably on his way now."

"Got it. You can head back now!"

"Miss Rhodes, is Georgia okay?" This was the person who had directed Georgia to hang the banner. He scratched his head. "That Georgia is really stubborn. I told her I’d go up, but she insisted on climbing the ladder herself. Why does a girl have to be so headstrong? Sigh!"

"Alright, you can go back now!"

"Okay, I’ll be going then!"

Nathan Rhodes parted ways with the staff member and hurried back to the hospital room with the bag.

After a few steps, Georgia’s phone rang. It was her husband calling.

’He’s probably already at the hospital by now.’

To be honest, the news that Georgia was already married had truly shocked her.

She answered the phone. "Georgia, where are you!"

A familiar voice came through the line, and for a moment, Nathan Rhodes couldn’t process it. Elliot Sheridan on the other end said "Hello?" again before Nathan finally spoke slowly, "Elliot, how could it be you?"

For Nathan Rhodes, three things had completely shocked her today: first, Georgia’s miscarriage; second, Byron Shaw being Georgia’s uncle; and third, Elliot Sheridan being married to Georgia.

Nathan Rhodes watched as he got out of the elevator and strode quickly toward her.

"How is she?" Elliot Sheridan demanded, closing in on her.

Her voice hoarse, Nathan couldn’t answer.

She saw the expression on his face—it was frantic, angry, and also... afraid.

She had never seen Elliot show so many emotions.

Elliot Sheridan had already brushed past her and was heading into the hospital room.

Georgia Thorne lay on the hospital bed, still attached to an IV drip.

Elliot Sheridan reached out and caressed her cheek, calling her name softly a couple of times, but Georgia didn’t react at all.

Unwilling to give up, he called her name twice more, but Georgia remained fast asleep.

Feeling a pang of sympathy, Nathan Rhodes took two steps forward and said softly, "She was given anesthesia. It’ll probably be a while before she wakes up."

"Anesthesia? Didn’t they just say she fell off a ladder? Was it serious enough to require anesthesia?" Elliot Sheridan whipped his head around, his voice sharp as he questioned her.

Startled by his sudden roar, Nathan Rhodes took a step back and told him the truth. "The fall from the ladder wasn’t serious, but... she had a miscarriage!"

Nathan stared into Elliot Sheridan’s increasingly dark and hostile eyes, her voice growing fainter with the last few words until she could barely hear herself.

But Elliot Sheridan heard her crystal clear. The blood in his veins froze solid, and for a moment, his mind went blank.

"What did you say!" Elliot’s voice was incomparably grim, and a terrifying, dark aura emanated from him.

Nathan Rhodes took another step back. "I didn’t know she was pregnant!"

"Get the hell out!" Elliot roared, his icy gaze cutting into Nathan like a knife.

Nathan had never seen him this terrifying, not even back when Quentin Chase went missing.

She stumbled out of the room, repeatedly muttering apologies.

Elliot Sheridan didn’t hear her at all. He turned back to look at Georgia.

His long fingers slowly caressed Georgia’s cheek, his touch so gentle as if he were afraid of hurting her.

His dark eyes, reflecting the profile of Georgia’s face, shone with immense regret. ’Georgia, this is all my fault.’

Elliot had always wanted a child, one who looked just like Georgia or just like him. He never imagined the child would come so soon, and leave even sooner.

In a matter of seconds, he had plummeted from paradise into the depths of hell.

’It was all his fault.’

Byron Shaw returned after finishing the admission paperwork and saw Nathan Rhodes standing by the door.

"Why are you standing out here all by yourself?"

Nathan glanced sideways into the room. "Elliot’s here. He knows everything!"

Byron Shaw clenched his fists, struggling to suppress the throbbing vein on his forehead.

He pushed the door open, entered the room, and said to the man sitting by the bed, "Elliot, get out here!"

Elliot refused to move, unwilling to let Georgia out of his sight for even half a second. Furious, Byron Shaw stormed over and grabbed him by the collar.

"What the hell have you done to her? Look how thin she’s gotten since she married you!" Byron angrily pointed at the unconscious Georgia. "The doctor said she’s severely malnourished, has low blood pressure, and is in terrible condition. Even without this fall, she wouldn’t have been able to keep the baby!"

Georgia’s physical condition was extremely poor. The doctor had said that if the mother’s body wasn’t healthy, the fetus couldn’t be saved.

When Byron Shaw heard that from the doctor, his face turned livid with rage. ’So this was what Georgia meant when she said Elliot was treating her well.’

’This is what "treating her well" looks like?’

Byron Shaw, still gripping Elliot’s collar, drew back his fist and swung at his face. Unwilling to back down and with a fire of his own burning inside him, Elliot naturally threw a punch back at Byron.

The two grown men started brawling in the hospital room. Nathan Rhodes watched from the side, her heart pounding in fear. She wanted to step in and break it up, but she didn’t have the courage.

All she could do was shout from the sidelines, "You two, stop it! This is a hospital room!"

The commotion was loud enough to attract nurses from the duty station. Seeing two handsome, dashing men fighting, they covered their mouths in shock and just stared.

Intimidated by the men’s intensity, none of them dared to intervene. Nathan pushed them out, closed the door, and drew all the curtains shut.

Byron Shaw and Elliot Sheridan fought, with neither gaining the upper hand. Both of their faces were bruised and scratched.

After all, one had just given blood, and the other had just woken up from a hangover.

Exhausted, they sat down on the sofa. Nathan Rhodes looked at the two of them, speechless.

’One was Georgia’s husband, the other her uncle. She really didn’t know whose side to take.’

When Georgia Thorne woke up, she saw three blurry faces before her.

The most familiar was Elliot Sheridan’s face. As her consciousness returned, his anxious voice grew clearer.

Georgia was dazed. It took a moment for her to remember what had happened before she passed out.

She had been hanging a banner, then she’d accidentally fallen from the ladder. The heavy smell of disinfectant filled the air around her, making her heart race with anxiety.

She tried to move and felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. She gasped, the pain so intense she couldn’t speak.

Elliot frantically gripped her hand. "Where does it hurt? Tell me!"

His dark eyes shone with heartache, filled with worry for Georgia’s condition.

He was completely at a loss.

Hearing his concerned words, Georgia struggled to open her tightly shut eyes. When she met Elliot’s anxious gaze, her heart went cold.

Without a word, she forcefully pulled her hand from his grasp.

Elliot held on tightly. Having just come out of surgery, she had no strength and was naturally no match for him.

Her bloodless lips parted slightly. "Let go!"

Her cold gaze and icy words gave Elliot the strange impression that she was no longer the Georgia he once knew.

Elliot’s expression turned grim. He numbly released Georgia’s hand.

Georgia’s gaze shifted to the side. "Attorney Shaw, can you make him leave? I don’t want to see him right now!"

"Of course. You get some rest," Byron Shaw said in a gentle voice.

Then he raised his head and looked at Elliot. "Did you hear that? She wants you to leave!"

Elliot looked down at Georgia on the bed. Her change was too drastic.

Her eyes were closed; she clearly didn’t want to see him.

Even if he didn’t want to leave, he had no choice.

Elliot clenched his fists. "Take good care of her!"

"Of course we will!"

He walked out reluctantly.

Having been under anesthesia, Georgia woke up in the afternoon.

The doctor said Georgia was very weak and needed nourishment, so Byron Shaw had specifically driven across half the city to buy some nutritious porridge for her.

When he opened the lid, it was still steaming hot.

Seeing this, Nathan Rhodes helped her sit up. "Georgia, get up and eat something!"

Georgia forced herself to take two sips of the porridge before her stomach started hurting again.

Nathan Rhodes and Byron Shaw exchanged a look, both of them silent.

Their plan was that if Georgia didn’t mention the baby after waking up, they wouldn’t bring up the miscarriage. If she knew she had been pregnant, they would tell her the truth.

Given the current situation, it was obvious Georgia hadn’t known she was pregnant.

Nathan’s face turned pale again as she felt the urge to tell Georgia the truth.

Although the baby had only been with her for a short time, it had still been a part of her for over twenty days.

Nathan felt a deep sense of guilt; after all, the baby was gone because of her.

Georgia’s appetite had grown smaller and smaller. She ate a tiny amount and then stopped.

Unable to bear it, Nathan said, "Why are you eating so little? Have some more!"
