She didn’t want to cry in front of Elliot Sheridan, to show him her vulnerability. Closing the book in her hands, she stood up and started toward the bathroom.

The moment she rose, the man beside her shot out a hand, grabbing her wrist and yanking her back down onto the sofa. "We need to talk!"

"Let go! I have nothing to say to you!" Georgia Thorne struggled, desperately fighting back the tears welling in her eyes.

’Georgia, get a grip. Don’t you dare cry in front of him.’

"Georgia, it’s not what you think!" Elliot Sheridan wrapped his arms tightly around her, pulling her into his embrace.

He looked down and saw her tear-filled, heartbroken eyes, and his heart ached. His long, slender fingers gently brushed away her tears. "Don’t cry."

Georgia Thorne hated his touch and slapped his hand away. "Don’t touch me! Let me go!"

"I’m not letting go!" Elliot Sheridan held her tighter. "You can’t just condemn someone without hearing their side of the story!"

"Georgia, it’s not what you think between me and Quentin Chase. I admit, I did deceive you. I met with her behind your back, but only because I didn’t want you to get the wrong idea. Her showing up won’t change anything between us."

"Right. Your first love won’t change anything for our marriage." Georgia Thorne gave him a scornful look. "Then what about your child?"

"I have amnesia, not brain damage! Don’t take me for a fool! The only reason you married me is because my kidney is a match for your brother’s! Well, let me tell you, I will never donate my kidney to your brother, you bastard!" Furious, Georgia Thorne bit down hard on Elliot Sheridan’s arm, trying to make him let go.

"So that’s what William told you!" Elliot Sheridan hissed, his grip tightening.

"He told me plenty more than that!" Georgia Thorne retorted, incensed. "What, you’ve got so many skeletons in your closet you’re afraid someone’s going to drag them all out?"

Elliot Sheridan was left speechless.

He had never seen such a sharp-tongued Georgia Thorne, her words so merciless.

’What skeletons could I possibly have!’

"Let me go! Let me go now!" Georgia Thorne’s strength was no match for his. Trapped in his embrace, she couldn’t break free from his iron grip.

The anger and hurt in her heart finally erupted, and she shrieked uncontrollably, "I want to divorce you!"

"What did you say!" Elliot Sheridan froze, taking a moment to process what she had just said.

Anger flared within him. "Georgia Thorne, don’t you dare say that again!"

Both of them were on the brink of rage. Faced with Elliot Sheridan’s menacing glower, Georgia Thorne felt no fear; on the contrary, she felt even more certain she was in the right.

"Divorce! Divorce! Divorce! Elliot Sheridan, I’m divorcing you!" Georgia Thorne balled her hands into fists and hammered on his chest with all her might. "Go live with your first love and your son! I’m out!"

"Never!" Elliot Sheridan grabbed her wrists, forcing her down onto the sofa. "I told you before, now that we’re married, divorce is impossible!"

"You...! I don’t care! I’m divorcing you!"

"If you dare mention the word ’divorce’ again, I’ll..."

The more Elliot Sheridan refused something, the more Georgia Thorne wanted to do the exact opposite.

He told her not to mention divorce, so she had to.

"Divorce, divorce, div—MMPH..."

She had just gotten the third "divorce" out when his lips crashed down on hers, forcing all her complaints back down her throat.

The only sounds she could make were small, fragmented whimpers.

Wincing in pain, Elliot Sheridan pulled back. Looking at the tear-streaked face in his arms, his hold on her softened, as did his voice. "Don’t cry anymore. I was wrong."

"Get the hell away from me!"

Georgia Thorne shoved him away, blindly grabbing for something—it was his tie—and furiously wiped her face with it.

Tears and snot smeared all over his tie.

Helpless, Elliot Sheridan threaded his fingers through her hair, cupped her cheeks, and apologized sincerely. "I was wrong! Please stop crying, okay?"

"We can’t be sure if the child is mine yet. We just did a paternity test this morning. When the results come out, we can..."

"What’s there to wait for? Let’s go to the courthouse right now and get this divorce over with! Then you two can get married and go live your happy family-of-three life!" she roared.

Georgia Thorne’s eyes were red and swollen from crying. She turned her head away, refusing to look at Elliot Sheridan.

She was in a foul mood, and the last thing she wanted was to look at him.

When Elliot Sheridan tried to speak to her, she either pretended not to hear or shot him a glare. "Go talk to your first love. There’s nothing for us to talk about."

’Is this her being jealous?’

’Perhaps, even with her amnesia, Georgia still subconsciously loves me.’

Elliot Sheridan let out a wry smile and paced around her.

For the rest of the afternoon, Georgia Thorne treated Elliot Sheridan like he was invisible.

Toward evening, Sharon Ennis came by personally to deliver some ginseng soup and noticed the atmosphere between the two was off.

It wasn’t like usual. The two of them weren’t even making eye contact.

"Mom, please take care of Georgia for a bit. I’m going to check on Aidan."

"Wait, take this thermos with you." Sharon Ennis handed Elliot Sheridan another thermos. She had just arrived at the hospital and had come to Georgia’s room first.

Only after Elliot Sheridan left with the thermos did Georgia Thorne finally relax, slowly sipping the ginseng soup.

The soup was as bitter as always. Georgia Thorne had drunk about half a bowl when she heard Sharon Ennis ask, "What’s wrong with you and Elliot? Did you two have a fight?"

Georgia Thorne subconsciously wanted to deny it, but the faces of that mother and son suddenly flashed in her mind. Especially the little boy; just as William had said, the resemblance to Elliot Sheridan in his eyes and brow was undeniable.

If they weren’t related by blood, how could they look so similar?

Even though Elliot Sheridan had spent the whole afternoon telling her they hadn’t done a paternity test yet and it wasn’t confirmed if Quentin Chase’s child was his, didn’t their similar faces say it all?

At that thought, Georgia Thorne lost her appetite. She put down the bowl. "Mom, we didn’t fight. We’re just getting a divorce."

No matter how much she loved Elliot Sheridan, she had her principles. How could she possibly tolerate her husband having a child with another woman?

She wasn’t a saint; she wasn’t that magnanimous. If they really were father and son, she would definitely divorce Elliot Sheridan.

Sharon Ennis was shocked by Georgia Thorne’s words. "Everything was fine. Why are you suddenly talking about divorce again?"

"You and Elliot have been married for over half a year, and your relationship has always been so good. Even though you’ve lost your memory, I’m sure you still li—"

"Mom, that’s not it..." Georgia Thorne paused, looking at Sharon Ennis’s confused expression. She took a deep breath and said, "It’s not that I don’t like him. It’s that his first love is back... along with their son."

Georgia Thorne spoke the last sentence very quietly, her voice trailing off.

"What!" This time, Sharon Ennis was completely stunned.

Elliot Sheridan’s love life had been very clear-cut. In all these years, there had only been three women in his life.

One was Quentin Chase, another was Joanne Donovan, and the last one was his current wife, Georgia Thorne.

He and Quentin Chase had dated when they were young, but the relationship had fizzled out after she left without a word. The other woman, Joanne Donovan, had been his childhood sweetheart. Before Connor Donovan’s death, the families had thought it would be wonderful if the two of them married. Unfortunately, after Connor passed away, the relationship between their families soured, and Joanne left to study abroad, grieving her father.

Her son had reached thirty-five—an awkward age to be unmarried—and she, his mother, had worried herself sick over it.

Just when she had finally started to relax seeing Elliot Sheridan married to Georgia Thorne, Georgia was now talking about divorce and bringing up Quentin Chase.

’Quentin Chase has a child?’

"What did Elliot say?" Sharon Ennis was a little flustered herself. How could Quentin Chase have suddenly returned?

"I don’t know!" Georgia Thorne lowered her head, staring at her fingers.

’If that child really is his, he’ll probably want to acknowledge his son, right?’

’Once he acknowledges the child, he’ll have so many more opportunities to spend time with the mother. And they were each other’s first love.’

’They say first love is the sweetest memory. They’re bound to rekindle their old flame.’

’Will he treat Quentin Chase as well as he treats me?’

Quentin Chase hadn’t left yet, mainly because Aidan Sheridan wouldn’t let her. He’d threatened to leave with her and her son if she did.

She’d heard from William that Aidan Sheridan had a flare-up a few days ago and just had surgery. He was still weak; how could he possibly get out of bed? What if...

Worried as she was, she also felt a spark of anticipation.

Aidan Sheridan had told her that Sharon Ennis came to the hospital every evening and wanted her to stay and meet with her.

She had been back for a long time but had never dared to appear before the Sheridan Family. She felt a little flustered.

Quentin Chase waited patiently, but it wasn’t Sharon Ennis who arrived. The first person to show up was Elliot Sheridan.

She was undoubtedly surprised, a mixture of shock and delight, and shot up from the sofa.

Before she could speak, the child beside her had already run over, hugged Elliot Sheridan’s leg, and called out, "Daddy."

Elliot Sheridan frowned, lowering his head to carefully study Miles’s face. He suddenly remembered that this was the same child who had been rude to Georgia Thorne at the top of the stairs that day.

He also remembered giving the boy a harsh lecture.

Miles was a smart boy. Seeing the strange look on Elliot Sheridan’s face, he timidly called out "Daddy" again.

Elliot Sheridan didn’t correct him, but he didn’t respond either.

Before the paternity test results were out, everything was still an unknown.

"Miles, come here. Stop pulling on your father!" Quentin Chase bent down and beckoned to Miles. Miles looked at his mother, then back at Elliot Sheridan, and reluctantly let go of Elliot’s trousers, walking over to Quentin Chase’s side.

Quentin Chase took her child’s hand, clearly flustered as she faced Elliot Sheridan. "Y-You... what are you doing here?"

Quentin Chase was still the same Quentin Chase from his memories; she hadn’t changed a bit.

"I came to see Aidan."

"Brother!" Aidan Sheridan called out softly, his face lighting up with joy.

’His brother’s timing couldn’t be more perfect!’ he thought.
