Chapter 293 - 280: I’ll Strip Just for You
This was, without a doubt, a public announcement of their relationship. Who knew how many girls’ hearts were broken in that instant.
Honestly, she wasn’t surprised at all that Georgia Thorne and Elliot Sheridan had gotten back together.
That man, Elliot Sheridan, was just too calculating. If he truly set his mind on winning someone over, it would be futile no matter how much Georgia tried to avoid him.
She was just a bit curious how their relationship had suddenly been made public.
She fired off a series of messages to Georgia Thorne. After reading through them one by one, Georgia replied at a leisurely pace.
"Upstairs, in Elliot Sheridan’s office."
"I heard you two came into the company holding hands. You made up?"
"Mm!"
"Congrats! Looks like a wedding banquet is in the cards! Just so you know, I’m going to be your maid of honor!"
"Not that fast!"
"What do you mean, not fast? It’s almost the end of the year. You can take advantage of the New Year holiday to hold the banquet!"
"...Why do I get the feeling you’re more anxious about this than I am!"
"Of course I am!!" Nancy Hughes thought for a moment, then smugly typed out her reply. "Just think about it, I’ll be your maid of honor. I can give your husband a hard time however I want. To get through the door, he’ll first have to hand over a huge red envelope, then do a striptease or something. I have to make him look like a fool in front of everyone. I’m getting excited just thinking about it!"
She was probably the only person in the world who would dare to make a fool of the man who signed her paychecks.
A few minutes after she sent the message, Georgia Thorne still hadn’t replied. Nancy Hughes was getting a little antsy, so she sent a sticker.
A few seconds later, Georgia’s reply came through. "Nancy Hughes, you’re so done for. Elliot Sheridan just snatched my phone and read our conversation!"
PUFF! Nancy Hughes nearly coughed up a lung. "What did you say!"
What followed was a voice message—and it was from the very man who signed her paychecks. "A striptease, you say? Why don’t you demonstrate for me first?"
Nancy Hughes was so scared she dropped her phone. She didn’t dare mess around anymore!
’This is taking the joke way too far!’
In the top-floor office, Elliot Sheridan finished scrolling through the chat history on Georgia Thorne’s phone. "Do you want to see it?"
Georgia Thorne was flustered and let out a little "Huh?" not quite catching what he said.
Elliot leaned in close to her ear, his warm breath rustling the tips of her hair. "If you want to see it, I can give you a private show."
What was that saying again? When a person has no shame, they are truly invincible.
Lately, Elliot Sheridan had been developing in that very direction of shameless invincibility.
An unnatural blush crept onto Georgia Thorne’s cheeks. She cleared her throat, put on a serious face, and pushed him away. "Go get back to work!"
’He should be working, what is he doing coming here to bother me for no reason!’
Elliot chuckled, knowing she was just shy. He reached out and pinched her cheek. "Think about what you want for lunch!"
Previously, when Georgia Thorne wasn’t by his side, Elliot Sheridan would always imagine that if she were here, he would be able to work without any distractions. In reality, he had overestimated himself. Having Georgia here was an even bigger distraction than when she wasn’t.
When Georgia wasn’t around, he couldn’t control his thoughts of her, but he could control his actions. Once she was by his side, however, he couldn’t focus on any documents or contracts. All he wanted was to be close to her, even if it just meant sitting quietly beside her and watching her.
Since Elliot Sheridan had to go to the suburbs in the afternoon, they had a quick lunch at a nearby restaurant.
During the meal, Owen Sawyer called twice to rush him.
"I can get back on my own, you don’t have to take me," Georgia Thorne said.
Elliot glanced down at his watch. Time was indeed tight. "I’ll drop you at a nearby station."
Elliot Sheridan dropped Georgia Thorne off at the nearest intersection. "Alright, you should get going!"
Georgia hummed in agreement, but he patiently waited and watched her cross the street. Only after he saw her wave at him from the other side did he drive away.
After he had driven a short distance, a text from Georgia Thorne arrived on his phone.
"Drive safe."
Elliot smiled contentedly as he read the message. Just as he was about to reply, a second text from Georgia came through.
"You’re driving, so don’t text back. No looking at your phone!"
Just from reading the text, he could imagine the expression on Georgia’s face.
His mood brightened even more, and he casually replied with a single "Mm."
Georgia Thorne got on the bus and saw Elliot Sheridan’s reply. She frowned, but her heart was bubbling with delight.
After getting off the bus, Georgia Thorne had a short walk to her apartment.
Before she even reached the entrance, she saw a white car parked in front of the building. The license plate was particularly familiar.
When Georgia Thorne first joined the Thorne Family, everyone rejected her except for Lynn Thorne.
Both were daughters of the Thorne Family, but she and Amanda Thorne were a stark contrast. One was the true heiress, born to the legal wife, while the other was an illegitimate daughter who had to be hidden from the light of day.
Since childhood, Amanda had gotten whatever she wanted. In short, as long as it was something she desired, Hayley Sullivan and Jared Thorne would satisfy her every demand.
She remembered that for Amanda’s eighteenth birthday present, the extravagant Jared Thorne had bought her a sports car.
She had gone through many sports cars since then, but the license plate number had never changed.
Georgia Thorne stopped in her tracks and watched as Amanda Thorne stormed out of the car.
After a few seconds, the corners of her lips lifted. She pretended not to see her and continued walking toward the apartment building.
’The first one to lose their composure is the one who loses.’
Amanda, furious, lunged forward to grab Georgia’s shoulder. "Stop! Who said you could leave!"
Before Amanda could grab her, Georgia quickly dodged. "Miss Thorne, please be mindful of your status. It wouldn’t look good if some entertainment reporter snapped a photo and slapped it with a headline like ’Disgraced Thorne Heiress Throws a Tantrum in the Street’!"
Amanda Thorne cared most about her reputation. Under these circumstances, she usually wouldn’t get physical with Georgia.
Her face turned pale with rage. She forcefully grabbed Georgia’s wrist, her sharp nails digging into her flesh. "Georgia Thorne, you’re a shameless bitch! How dare you seduce my man!"
"Heh! Your man? And which one would that be?" Georgia Thorne glanced up, looking at her nonchalantly. "Miss Thorne, please present some evidence. Otherwise, I’ll sue you for slander!"
"Slander? You dare say you didn’t seduce Elliot Sheridan!" Amanda’s face twisted into a snarl. "You must have been seducing him behind my back while I was dating him, weren’t you!"
"Let go!"
"You’re just like your mother, a slut who seduces men down to your very bones! You’re a bastard! You probably don’t even know who your real father is!" Amanda squeezed her hand with all her might. Georgia struggled, the sharp pain making her brows knit together tightly.
"I’m warning you, you are not to talk about my mother!" Georgia flared up, hating it most when people said anything to hurt her mom.
"So what if I did? You’re even better at it than your mother, with even more skill at seducing men. I really underestimated you before. I never thought you were so slutty to the core that you’d even dare to steal my man..." A stream of vulgar language poured from Amanda’s mouth.
"Amanda Thorne, I’ll say it one last time. Let go!"
Disdaining to argue with her, Georgia yanked her hand free. Amanda’s nails were too sharp, scraping several long, red marks on her skin that began to bleed.
"I’m going to beat you to death today, you bitch!" After being thrown off, Amanda furiously lunged again, grabbing a fistful of her hair.
Georgia’s hair was pulled. "Amanda Thorne, you’re insane!"
SLAP— A sharp, crisp sound echoed as Amanda swung her hand. A bright red handprint immediately appeared on Georgia’s right cheek.
"That’s for seducing my man! I’ll kill you, you slut!" Amanda struck with extreme force. Georgia was the person she hated most, and right now, she wished she could smash Georgia’s face in.
But Georgia Thorne wasn’t one to take a beating lying down. She grabbed Amanda’s hair in return, shaking off her demonic claws.
With a hard shove, she sent Amanda stumbling backward into the car. "Georgia Thorne, you dare to push me!"
Georgia pulled her phone out of her pocket and frantically pretended to call the police. "Yes, that’s right, there’s a lunatic harassing me here. You need to come take her away!"
"I suggest you get out of here before the police arrive!" Georgia warned her.
"You!"
Amanda was clearly unwilling to give up, but even more unwilling to be taken away by the police. She stomped her foot in anger and got into her car.
Amanda sped away, and Georgia breathed a sigh of relief, lowering her phone.
A call to the police? She hadn’t actually made a call at all.
Georgia returned to her apartment and got a shock when she looked in the mirror. The side of her face that had been hit was red and swollen, and she looked an absolute mess.
’It’s over. How can I let Elliot Sheridan see me in this sorry state?’
She put a damp towel in the freezer, treated the scratches on her arm, and then placed the cold towel on her swollen cheek.
’Calling her a lunatic is no exaggeration at all.’
Elliot Sheridan returned at seven o’clock to a dark apartment.
’Georgia’s not home?’
He turned on the light and saw someone curled up on the bed. So she had already gone to sleep.
But wasn’t it a bit too early? It was only seven.
Georgia Thorne seemed to be sleeping very soundly; she didn’t even wake up when he called her name twice.
Elliot was a bit tired today, too. He saw the dinner on the table and the note Georgia had left. "Heat up the food before you eat."
Elliot had a few casual bites, took a shower to wash off the day’s dust, and looked forward to quickly getting into bed to hold Georgia.
He turned off the light, lifted the covers, and hugged the person sleeping on the inner side of the bed. She was warm, and it felt comfortable to hold her.
In reality, Georgia hadn’t been asleep. She had been lying on her side, hiding her injured cheek, only daring to move after the room went dark.
She shifted, turning into Elliot Sheridan’s embrace and pretending that he had woken her. "You’re back!"
