Chapter 312 - 299: Don’t Be Afraid, He’s Selena’s Second Uncle (1)
’Was I in a car accident?’
’How could I not know?’
Elliot Sheridan went out to meet Owen Sawyer, who told him everything he had uncovered.
The car was a modified junker, unregistered. The license plate was stolen from another vehicle. They eventually found the car by tracking it on surveillance cameras.
It was parked in an abandoned warehouse in the suburbs. There were no fingerprints on the car. The area was desolate, with no people around, let alone any cameras.
As a result, the person who hit Georgia Thorne had vanished without a trace.
Judging by the methods used, whoever did this was a professional. They were experienced, knew how to disappear and erase all traces, leaving the police with no leads.
In other words, all their leads had gone cold.
The situation was extremely difficult. As things stood, they had no idea where to even begin.
"Get me a list of everyone Georgia Thorne has seen in the last month." He planned to investigate them one by one.
"Right away!"
Elliot Sheridan stood in the garden downstairs, smoking irritably. He was halfway through a cigarette when he thought of Georgia Thorne, still in a coma. He tossed the butt aside and went upstairs, one hand shoved in his pocket.
When he got back to her room, he saw someone was inside and quickened his pace.
He found that Georgia Thorne had already woken up.
A doctor was giving Georgia a routine checkup. Aside from a concussion, she seemed to have no major issues.
"Georgia, I’m so glad you’re awake!" Elliot Sheridan walked over joyfully and wrapped his arms around her.
Seeing her alive and well again, the overwhelming feeling of having her back from the brink of loss flooded his heart.
"Ow, you’re hurting my arm!"
Elliot couldn’t control his strength. He heard the woman in his arms gasp and cry out in pain.
"I’m sorry, Georgia!"
Momentarily at a loss, Elliot let go, only to lean in and press his face against hers, trying to kiss her cheek.
Before his warm lips could touch her, Georgia Thorne dodged his kiss. "Pervert! What do you think you’re doing?!"
That wasn’t the look he expected from his Georgia. Elliot Sheridan leaned closer to her. "Georgia, what’s wrong?"
"I don’t know you! Don’t call me Georgia!"
She didn’t like strangers calling her by her nickname. It felt very strange.
Elliot Sheridan was speechless.
Suddenly, Georgia Thorne didn’t recognize him. Elliot Sheridan was thrown into a panic.
Elliot Sheridan called the doctor back to examine Georgia Thorne.
Georgia Thorne was very cooperative with the doctor, her well-behaved demeanor was like that of a small child.
But as she underwent the doctor’s examination and answered his questions, her eyes remained fixed on Elliot Sheridan, warily watching him and not letting him get too close.
Even though the man was incredibly handsome, Georgia Thorne felt no fondness for him.
The doctor asked a series of questions. Georgia could answer some, but not others, stammering through her responses.
But from their conversation, Elliot Sheridan understood one thing: Georgia Thorne didn’t remember him.
The doctor glanced at Elliot Sheridan, the meaning in his eyes all too clear. He scribbled something on his notepad, then asked, "Do you know how old you are?"
"Fifteen." This time, Georgia Thorne answered quickly, without a hint of hesitation.
Georgia Thorne believed she was fifteen years old, having completely forgotten everything that had happened between the ages of fifteen and twenty-three.
It wasn’t just him she had forgotten; eight years of her life had been completely wiped away.
"Do you remember anything about the car accident?"
"Was I in a car accident?" Georgia Thorne asked in return.
「In the doctor’s office.」
The doctor nervously held up Georgia Thorne’s brain CT scans. "Mr. Sheridan, a situation like Mrs. Sheridan’s can happen, actually."
"Mrs. Sheridan’s brain suffered a severe impact. Under these circumstances, we can’t rule out the possibility of amnesia."
"I recall you saying my wife was fine."
Elliot Sheridan’s voice was low, and the doctor immediately broke out in a cold sweat. "Mrs. Sheridan’s condition is somewhat unusual. It’s possible she suffered some kind of trauma before the accident that triggered the amnesia. This type of memory loss is usually temporary. She might recover in a day or two!"
’Georgia’s memory is stuck at fifteen. How much younger than me was she then?’
Elliot Sheridan returned to the hospital room, his lips pressed into a thin line. Georgia Thorne was sitting up in bed, talking with Sharon Ennis.
At fifteen, Georgia had already known Selena Sheridan, and by extension, Sharon Ennis as Selena’s grandmother.
So when Georgia saw her, she called her "Grandma," which made Sharon Ennis’s heart ache.
’My wonderful daughter-in-law has suddenly turned back into a granddaughter.’
"Oh, right, where’s Selena?" Georgia Thorne looked around, just in time to see Elliot Sheridan push the door open and walk in.
Her relaxed expression immediately tensed up, and she instinctively scooted closer to Sharon Ennis.
Seeing Georgia’s fearful expression, Sharon Ennis took her hand. "Don’t be afraid. He’s Selena’s second uncle, remember?"
’And your husband!’
Georgia Thorne shook her head, avoiding Elliot Sheridan’s gaze. "I don’t know him."
’Hearing Georgia say "I don’t know him" with my own ears... that really doesn’t feel good.’
"Mom, could you step out for a moment? I need to talk to Georgia."
"Alright. You two take your time."
"Don’t...!"
Georgia Thorne frantically grabbed Sharon Ennis’s hand, not wanting her to leave.
Sharon Ennis patted the back of her hand reassuringly. "Don’t worry, he’s a good man!"
"Grandma, I..." Sharon Ennis gently pulled her hand away. ’I don’t want to talk to this "second uncle,"’ Georgia thought.
’Besides, he tried to force himself on me the moment he saw me. How is that a good man?’
Georgia Thorne snuck a glance at Elliot Sheridan. He definitely looked fierce.
"She’s your mother, not your grandmother!"
Even though he knew she had amnesia, he couldn’t stop himself from correcting her.
Georgia Thorne said nothing. She didn’t even look at him, pretending she hadn’t heard a thing.
’If I just ignore him, he’ll get tired of talking by himself soon enough.’
Unfortunately, having lost eight years of her memory, Georgia Thorne had forgotten what he was truly like deep down.
He was domineering and persistent. Before Georgia Thorne could react, Elliot Sheridan seized her wrist, pressed down on her shoulders, and pushed her down onto the soft pillows.
Her long, silky black hair tangled in his fingers. His overpowering presence invaded her senses, and Georgia Thorne felt her heart skip a beat.
’I may have forgotten what kind of person he is, but my instincts can’t be wrong.’
Georgia Thorne panicked, trying to push him away with all her might, her fingers clenched into tight fists. "What are you doing? Let me go!"
She struggled violently, but Elliot Sheridan caught her fist. His long fingers pressed against the soft flesh between her thumb and forefinger, forcing her hand to open so he could thread his fingers through hers.
Their ten fingers locked together tightly. "Georgia Thorne," he said fiercely, "you may have amnesia, but I need you to understand a few things, and fast."
"I won’t listen!" Georgia Thorne was trapped beneath him, her small frame completely pinned down.
She had to listen, whether she wanted to or not.
"First, you are twenty-three years old, not fifteen. Second, I am your husband, Elliot Sheridan. We were legally married last year. That woman was our mother. Third, the doctor said that to get your memory back, you need to be reminded of things you were once familiar with!"
’Things I was familiar with? Like what?’
A flicker of confusion crossed Georgia Thorne’s eyes. Then, the man’s warm lips pressed down on hers.
Georgia Thorne stared, completely bewildered, at the handsome face so close to hers. One of her hands was forced into an intertwined grip with his, while the other was pinned behind her back. She was like a cornered animal.
Elliot Sheridan slowly released her, his hot, heavy breaths fanning across her face. "Do you know who I am now?"
Georgia Thorne’s mind went blank as she stared fixedly at his face.
The face was unfamiliar, yet the feeling he gave her was intensely familiar.
"Selena’s..."
She had barely spoken before he sealed her lips with his again, cutting off the words "second uncle."
"Wrong. Say it again. Who am I!"
...
Georgia’s memory was still stuck in the past, from a time before she’d even met Elliot Sheridan. How could she possibly admit that he was her husband?
’Are you kidding me? I already have someone I like!’
"Fine! I admit you’re my husband! Just don’t kiss me again!"
However, Elliot Sheridan merely toyed with a strand of her hair, brushing it away from her face. A teasing smile played on his lips, and his voice lilted as he asked, "And what did you think I was going to do?"
Georgia Thorne was speechless.
’He clearly did that on purpose to make me misunderstand.’
’Jerk.’
Georgia Thorne swallowed hard and paused before saying, "Th-then... can you get off of me now?"
’This position is so awkward. If anyone saw us, it would be a huge misunderstanding.’
She shifted her body cautiously beneath him, but the bed was only so big. There was nowhere for her to escape.
Elliot Sheridan grunted in acknowledgment and leisurely got off her.
His retreat allowed the amnesiac Georgia Thorne to let out a huge sigh of relief.
However, she had forgotten this man was a scoundrel. Just as she sat up, Elliot Sheridan suddenly pushed her back down, kissing her and ravaging her mouth fiercely.
’Jerk, jerk, jerk! Pervert, pervert, pervert!’
Georgia Thorne cursed him out in her mind, mentally "greeting" every part of Elliot Sheridan from head to toe.
To be honest, Georgia Thorne couldn’t accept that she had lost her memory.
But when Elliot Sheridan forcibly carried her into the bathroom, she saw her reflection in the mirror, and it was so different from the image she had in her mind.
She was wearing a hospital gown, her face was unnaturally flushed, and her forehead was wrapped in several layers of white gauze. But none of that was the most important part.
The most important thing was that her face had changed. She was no longer the fresh-faced young girl she remembered. The woman in the mirror looked far too mature.
"Can you manage on your own? Or should I help you undress?" Elliot Sheridan said worriedly as he set her down on the toilet.
Aside from the blow to her head, Georgia Thorne had only suffered a few scrapes; there were no broken bones or serious injuries.
Georgia Thorne’s face burned, and she immediately pushed him with both hands. "Out, out! Get out!"
