"Are you done yet?" Georgia Thorne asked calmly, holding her phone. She was probably used to hearing it, so it didn’t affect her much.

"Not yet! You think just because you latched onto a rich man, he’ll dote on you for the rest of your life? Take a good look at yourself. You’re just like your mother, a specialist in seducing other women’s husbands!"

"Hayley Sullivan, say what you want about me, but not my mother!" Georgia Thorne frowned, cutting her off coldly.

"What’s wrong with me talking about your mother? Isn’t it the truth? If your mother hadn’t tried every trick in the book to seduce my husband, where would you have even come from?" Thinking of this, Hayley Sullivan was filled with regret.

’She had watched Yara Joyce tumble down the stairs with her own eyes. She never expected the little bitch to be so tough and not miscarry.’

’She still gave birth to that bastard child. Thank god it wasn’t a boy.’

Georgia Thorne hung up the phone. Hayley Sullivan was just a shrew; there was no common ground between them.

Hayley Sullivan, not giving up, called a few more times, but Georgia calmly rejected each call.

After a few tries, the calls stopped.

Picking up her phone, she opened her call log to delete the records of Hayley’s calls.

Besides Hayley Sullivan’s calls, there was also a call from another unknown number.

When she called it back, no one answered.

A few days later, Georgia Thorne decided she wanted to leave the hospital.

Elliot Sheridan firmly disagreed. Georgia’s leg hadn’t healed yet. "Give me a reason!"

"My professor called me yesterday and asked if I had my entry for the competition ready!"

"Your leg is broken, and you still want to enter some competition? Just stay here and recover quietly!"

"No!" Georgia grew stubborn. "I worked so hard to make it to the top 50. I’m not giving up now!"

"Honey, I use my hands for the competition, not my legs. Just let me go back, please?"

"This competition is really important to me. Getting into Origin has always been my dream. Don’t you want to see my dream come true?"

"Honey? Elliot!"

In the darkness, Georgia Thorne stared at the man before her, whose eyes were closed, and bit her lip in frustration.

"Elliot Sheridan, if you don’t agree, you can stay out of my bed starting tomorrow!"

Georgia Thorne had been preparing for this competition for a long time.

She was so close to making it to the finals. Quitting at this critical moment was out of the question.

Georgia was so upset about it that she gave Elliot the silent treatment for a whole day.

In the end, Elliot gave in to her persistence. He not only agreed to let her leave the hospital but also allowed her to continue with the competition.

The tension between them lasted less than a day before they reconciled.

She immediately completed the discharge procedures and returned to the apartment she hadn’t been to in a while.

For the next few days, Georgia Thorne was constantly on the phone with Preston Larkin, discussing the competition. She became completely absorbed in her work.

Since she couldn’t walk, Elliot arranged for the housekeeper to stay with her more often and would sometimes call Selena Sheridan to come over.

Selena Sheridan, under orders from Elliot, accompanied Georgia Thorne on her shopping trips, making sure that Georgia wouldn’t get hurt in the slightest.

The day she went to submit her work, Selena Sheridan went with her as well.

Pushing the wheelchair, Selena Sheridan grumbled, "You’re different now. You’re the apple of my second uncle’s eye. How could we let you suffer even the slightest grievance!"

Georgia Thorne didn’t comment.

’Lately, it seemed Selena was always whispering bad things about Elliot in her ear, as if she wished they would break up sooner rather than later.’

’Honestly, she felt that aside from being a bit petty, Elliot was fine in all other aspects.’

’In some ways, when he was bad, he was very, very bad. But most of the time, he was very, very good to her.’

Among the fifty contestants who had advanced, Georgia Thorne’s work was considered one of the best. Many people were optimistic that she could place in the top three.

When she went to submit her entry, quite a few people greeted her.

When Nathan Rhodes heard she was there, he made a special trip to the submissions department. Seeing Georgia in a wheelchair, he asked in surprise, "What happened to you?"

Georgia Thorne was wearing a long, pink, small-flowered dress, the hem of which concealed the cast on her lower leg.

Georgia scratched her head. "I had a little accident a few days ago."

"Well, you need to take care of yourself. The competition is coming up fast."

Nathan Rhodes had come over just to say hello. But when he heard from the person with her that she had to go to the hospital in the afternoon, he didn’t want to disturb her for too long and left after a few words.

Nathan Rhodes was very famous at Origin. For as many people who admired him, there were just as many who were jealous. Opinions about him were mixed.

After the group left, the staff in the submissions department started to gossip. "I can’t believe Nathan Rhodes actually knows that Georgia Thorne!"

"Yeah, I heard they have a pretty good relationship. They were taught by the same professor!"

"In that case, I bet the grand prize for this competition will go to her!"

"I think so too. I heard the prize money has been increased several times over this year. That Georgia Thorne is really lucky!"

Just as Georgia Thorne and Selena Sheridan were leaving the company building, a voice called out to her.

It was Hayley Sullivan, whom she hadn’t seen for days and who had been frantically searching for her.

Amanda Thorne was an old friend of Nathan Rhodes and had overheard him mention Georgia Thorne’s participation in the competition.

She then found out when the submission deadline was and had Hayley Sullivan come over.

Hayley Sullivan stormed over in her high heels, her face instantly twisting into a vicious expression.

’After searching for so long, she’d finally found the little bitch!’

Georgia Thorne had been so frantically busy with the competition lately that she had completely forgotten about the lawsuit.

It was only after seeing Hayley Sullivan that she remembered.

Faced with Hayley Sullivan’s aggressiveness, Georgia Thorne remained calm and composed.

"Can I help you?"

"You’re asking me what I want?" Hayley Sullivan’s eyes bulged as she looked at her incredulously. "Georgia Thorne, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll get Byron Shaw to drop the lawsuit right now. Otherwise, I’ll..."

"Otherwise, you’ll what? Are you planning to lock me up again? Or starve me until you have to beg me? Or just drug me and send me to some disgusting old man’s bed?" Georgia Thorne sneered, her gaze on Hayley Sullivan growing colder and colder.

Hayley Sullivan was actually a little frightened. Her straight back stiffened, and a chill ran down her spine under Georgia’s sharp, fixed stare.

"Nonsense! When have I ever done such things to you?" Hayley Sullivan’s eyes darted around, her guilt obvious.

’They had already faced Byron Shaw in court twice. Even the lawyer they hired, who had studied abroad, was no match for him. Not even half a match.’

’Byron Shaw was too formidable; he held all the evidence of her having imprisoned Georgia right in the palm of his hand.’

’She hadn’t wanted Georgia in the Thorne Family in the first place. Who would want to see their husband’s illegitimate daughter, born from another woman, every single day?’

’Severing ties was one thing, but who would have thought Byron Shaw would be so ruthless as to demand ten million in compensation!’

’What a joke. Given the Thorne Family’s current financial situation, where would they find that much spare cash to give to Georgia? Ten million would be the death of them. Even when they were wealthy, she wouldn’t have given a single cent to that bitch’s daughter.’

"You did it, but you don’t dare admit it? Hayley Sullivan, you’re truly a disappointment!"

Georgia Thorne didn’t want to talk to Hayley Sullivan anymore. She turned to Selena Sheridan beside her and said, "Selena, let’s go back."

"You!" Ignored, Hayley Sullivan’s fingers trembled with rage. "Georgia Thorne, I’m telling you, go ahead and leave, but don’t even think about taking a single cent from our Thorne Family!"

"Sorry, I couldn’t care less about the Thorne Family’s money! I wouldn’t take a single cent!"

"Hmph! You say you don’t want it, but I bet deep down you’re dying to get your hands on our family’s money!" Hayley Sullivan crossed her arms, watching as Georgia turned her head away. "Otherwise, why would Byron Shaw demand ten million from the Thorne Family!"

’Ten million?’

Georgia Thorne was surprised. When she met with Byron Shaw, he hadn’t mentioned this. He had only told her to leave everything to him with confidence.

She quickly regained her composure. Georgia looked up at her. "Hayley Sullivan, instead of wasting your time with me, you’d be better off going to have a nice chat with my lawyer. Maybe he’ll even give you a discount on that ten million!"

Georgia Thorne started pushing her wheelchair herself. Hayley Sullivan stepped forward to block her. "You’re not leaving!"

Selena Sheridan forcefully knocked Hayley Sullivan’s hand away. "Hayley Sullivan, are you annoying or what? Georgia already said she doesn’t want to waste time with you!"

"You!"

"What about me!" Selena put her hands on her hips. She was a good half a head taller than Hayley Sullivan, towering over her with an imposing presence.

Hayley Sullivan swallowed her anger. This Selena was a young lady of the Sheridan Family. If she offended Selena Sheridan, the Sheridan Family would surely not let her off.

Hayley Sullivan’s expression was grim as she turned her gaze back to Georgia Thorne.

The latter smiled serenely. "What, are you planning to lock me up in broad daylight this time?"

Inside the hospital, just after the doctor had taken X-rays of Georgia Thorne’s leg and said the fracture was slowly healing, Elliot Sheridan arrived.

"Didn’t you say you had a meeting this morning?" Georgia looked at him.

"Canceled!" Elliot sat down beside her and began discussing Georgia’s condition with the doctor in detail.

Elliot Sheridan was no ordinary person. The doctor respectfully explained that Georgia’s condition was improving.

However, this didn’t seem to satisfy Elliot, who kept his brow furrowed throughout the conversation.

Under the table, his large hand slowly and gently caressed Georgia’s palm.

Sitting behind them, Selena Sheridan saw their intimate gesture and pouted.

’Her second uncle wasn’t so bad, actually. At the very least, he was good to his wife—enviably good.’

’She really envied Georgia Thorne. At the same age as her, she had already found a man who would love and cherish her for a lifetime.’

With Elliot around, he took care of everything personally, leaving nothing for Selena to do.

After a little while, Selena Sheridan made an excuse and left first.

Elliot had driven over himself and didn’t plan on returning to the office that afternoon.

He carried Georgia Thorne to the car. "Grandpa wants to see you!"

Georgia gave a dazed "mhm," turning her head just in time to brush against his cheek.

Her face instantly turned bright red. Elliot, completely unfazed, fastened her seatbelt for her. "Want to go see your grandpa?"

"Not my grandpa, *our* grandpa!" Elliot ruffled the top of her head and couldn’t resist kissing her on the cheek.

Georgia felt a little embarrassed about meeting Elliot’s grandfather.

She remembered that the last time she went to see the old man, she had arrived empty-handed.
