Chapter 326: Want to Love You Right
Wren Sutton turned her head aside, her eyelashes fluttering violently. Her fingertips unconsciously clutched the front of Adrian Lancaster’s shirt, crumpling the fabric into deep creases.
She couldn’t control her racing heart, nor could she face her own feelings.
Adrian Lancaster’s hand slowly caressed Wren Sutton’s cheek. His gaze was intense, locking onto her eyes as if he meant to pull her very soul into his.
"Don’t be afraid. I promise I won’t hurt you."
"Look up at me."
Wren Sutton’s mind went blank. She lost the ability to think and obediently lifted her head.
Their eyes met, and she found herself falling into Adrian Lancaster’s deep, dark gaze.
All his usual restraint was gone, replaced by an open, unabashed affection and desire, as deep and vast as a bottomless sea.
Wren knew all too well what that look meant. After just one glance, she nervously tore her eyes away.
"Adrian Lancaster, let me go. I want to get out of bed."
Her voice was as soft as a kitten’s meow, laced with the petulant anger of someone flustered and embarrassed.
"If you want to sleep, go to another bed."
Adrian Lancaster chuckled, a sound tinged with helplessness and affection, but mostly filled with an irrepressible passion.
"Is Mrs. Lancaster getting shy?"
Wren Sutton struggled in his arms, squirming. "Just let me go..."
Adrian Lancaster’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his breath so hot it felt like it could scald her.
"I won’t. I can’t bear to let you go."
He couldn’t resist lowering his head to kiss Wren’s flushed ear. His lips traced a path down her delicate jawline, from her collarbone to her neck, leaving a trail of intimate kisses. His touch was gentle, but his intent was firm.
"Mmm..." Wren trembled in Adrian’s arms like a flower petal caressed by a spring breeze, instinctively trying to pull her neck away.
Adrian steadied her. His palm, warm and lightly calloused, cupped the nape of her neck. The gesture was restrained, yet held an undeniable possessiveness.
The soft, tender kisses were Adrian’s brand, carrying his unique, crisp scent of cedar mixed with scorching heat, leaving his exclusive mark on Wren’s skin.
Wren’s breathing fell completely out of rhythm, and a soft moan escaped her lips.
Her reaction was like a spark on a dry prairie, igniting Adrian’s desire. The floodgates of his reason burst open.
He had held back for too long. He wasn’t going to hold back anymore.
He would use the most primitive, direct action to prove his love for Wren—a love that was as much physical as it was emotional.
"Darling, I want to love you completely."
His voice was raw, as if scraped by sandpaper, thick with passion.
"Don’t pull away, okay?"
As the words left his lips, Adrian leaned down, pulling Wren even tighter into his embrace with a force that brooked no refusal.
The motion was fluid and natural, and before she knew it, their positions had changed.
Wren was now lying on the soft mattress, her back pressed against the warm sheets.
Adrian was above her, his arms braced on either side of her head, caging her in a way that was both overwhelming and intensely intimate.
The last rays of the setting sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting hazy shadows across them.
Adrian’s shadow fell over Wren, completely enveloping her.
He lowered his head, his nose brushing against hers. Their warm breaths intertwined, and it was impossible to tell whose rhythm faltered first.
He gazed at Wren’s flushed cheeks, her glistening eyes, her slightly parted red lips...
"Mrs. Lancaster, do you have any idea how beautiful and alluring you are right now?"
"You captivate me, you intoxicate me, you make me lose all control."
Wren’s cheeks were burning hot, and her heart was pounding so fast it felt like it would burst from her chest. A thin sheen of tears welled in her eyes, giving them a faint pinkish hue.
She closed her eyes, a fierce struggle still raging within her.
"I haven’t said yes... You can’t..."
Adrian moved closer, his body nearly pressing against hers, his bewitching voice whispering in her ear, "Baby, you’ll say yes. I’m sure of it."
"Adrian Lancaster, you—!"
Adrian lowered his head and kissed her without a moment’s hesitation.
The kiss was fiery and lingering, filled with long-suppressed passion and desire.
He kissed her tenderly, lingering, greedily drawing in her sweetness as if savoring the world’s most precious nectar.
A familiar tremor swept through her, devouring what was left of her reason. She forgot to resist, forgot to refuse, and let Adrian kiss her deeply.
The air in the bedroom grew hotter, and the sound of their intertwined breaths became more and more impassioned.
Adrian’s fingers gently brushed the flushed corners of Wren’s eyes. His every look and touch was filled with a tenderness and adoration he couldn’t hide.
He wanted to press further, but every move was a careful test, always mindful of Wren’s feelings.
Wren’s body went pliant, all her strength gone. Her tense nerves gradually relaxed under Adrian’s gentle touch, and the struggle in her heart gave way to her body’s natural response.
Just as the tender, intimate moment reached its peak, the sound of Owen and Nina crying echoed through the bedroom.
...
Adrian, who had been in the middle of undressing, froze. The intense passion in his deep, burning eyes slowly faded, replaced by profound exasperation.
His Adam’s apple still bobbed, a lingering heat not yet faded.
The sound of her children crying instantly snapped Wren out of her daze. She jerked back to her senses.
She frantically pushed at Adrian’s chest. "The children are awake! Let me go!"
Wren was mortified, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into and disappear.
Thinking back on how she had been lost in the throes of passion just moments before, she was filled with utter embarrassment.
’Thank goodness Owen and Nina are still too little to understand what we were doing,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I’d die of shame. I’d never be able to face them.’
Adrian looked at the woman in his arms, flustered and shy like a startled fawn, and let out an affectionate chuckle.
His voice was tinged with lingering tenderness and more than a little regret at being interrupted.
He reluctantly released Wren, pushed himself up, and briskly got out of bed.
"Honey, you stay here and rest. I’ll go check on our two little troublemakers."
