Chapter 113: Skills Disappear

Jiang Li and Yu Huannian arrived at the hospital room. Inside, a woman lay unconscious.

"I was passing by last night when I saw her jump into the river, so I pulled her out. I took her to a clinic at first, but then they called, saying her injuries were pretty bad and she’d been transferred to the hospital."

Yu Huannian scratched his head and looked at the person on the bed. He had been in such a rush last night that he hadn’t gotten a good look. Now, he noticed she had a large scar on her face.

"The doctor said we should wait until she wakes up to ask... but I... Little Rou took my bank card." Yu Huannian’s voice trailed off toward the end.

The hospital had called and told him to pay the medical fees, which was when he remembered he didn’t have any money on him.

"It’s fine. I’ll go pay. While I’m at it, I’ll teach you how to download a mobile banking app and set it up."

Jiang Li glanced at the person on the bed, then led Yu Huannian out. She took his phone to download the app. As for the bank card...

"Do you want to get the card back?" No matter how much money was on it, she would respect his decision.

"Forget it. I’ll just get a new one. I’ll have Officer Ji deposit the reward money into the new account number." It was a brief acquaintance, and this was to be its end.

Thinking of Ning Rou, Yu Huannian couldn’t help but sigh.

Jiang Li nodded and let Ji Qinghe know.

After returning to the hospital room, Jiang Li thought for a moment and decided to hire a caregiver to help out. "If she wakes up, please contact me."

"Of course, of course. Don’t you worry."

Once everything was arranged, Jiang Li led Yu Huannian outside.

Back home, Jiang Li caught up on some sleep. In her dream, she saw Qiao Siyuan, who was nothing but skin and bones with bulging eyes. If it weren’t for his surroundings, she might not have even recognized him.

"I was wrong, I was wrong..."

Qiao Siyuan huddled in a corner, his breath as faint as a silk thread, muttering "I was wrong" over and over.

Jiang Li looked around. ’Am I attached to this spirit?’

It seemed Qiao Siyuan hadn’t solved his problem by coming to the Southern Ocean. ’He truly got what he deserved.’

"Qiao Siyuan, who was it that saved you back then?"

At the sound of Jiang Li’s voice, Qiao Siyuan started screaming and shouting as if he’d seen a ghost.

"AHHHH! I know I was wrong! Don’t come any closer, don’t come any closer!"

"Are you trying to get yourself killed? All you do is scream all day! I really don’t know why the boss still keeps a useless piece of trash like you around!"

A beam of light pierced the pitch-black room. An object with a special pattern was thrown at Qiao Siyuan, knocking him out cold.

Jiang Li turned her head impatiently. The next second, she felt her consciousness being violently torn away, and her very spirit trembled.

"A bunch of little ghosts. Can’t even rest in peace."

The next moment, a sealed jar was placed in the corner. Having lost her vessel, Jiang Li could only wake up from the dream.

It dawned on her a moment later: she had actually been able to speak inside the dream!

"This is great!" Jiang Li was suddenly overjoyed. ’If this is the case, maybe I can prevent the victims’ deaths.’

But her joy was short-lived. The next second, she sprayed a mouthful of blood. "PUH!"

"Sister!"

Miao Anji smelled the scent of blood. Ignoring the Gu Worms on his desk, he rushed out and started pounding on Jiang Li’s door.

Hearing the commotion, Yu Huannian came over and kicked the door open. Seeing Jiang Li collapsed on the floor with blood beside her, he was instantly horrified.

Yu Huannian strode in. "Sister, Sister!"

"To the hospital!"

Wu Ming grabbed the car keys. Yu Huannian picked up Jiang Li and headed outside, with a nervous Miao Anji following them to the hospital.

Lu Xingye received a message from Wu Ming and rushed over immediately.

"How’s Jiang Li?"

"The doctor said it’s exhaustion, but... but she spat up blood." Wu Ming paced back and forth anxiously as she looked at the newly arrived Lu Xingye.

Lu Xingye looked at Jiang Li, who was lying pale-faced on the hospital bed. It was very similar to the time she’d had heart palpitations before—also completely out of the blue.

"She should be okay. We’ll wait for her to wake up and ask her."

Lu Xingye sat in a chair, anxiously wringing his hands and checking on Jiang Li’s condition from time to time.

"What did she do after she went home yesterday?" Lu Xingye asked, looking at the others.

"After we got back, Sister was in a great mood. Then she went to her room to sleep. The next thing I knew, I heard Miao Anji pounding on her door," Yu Huannian said, looking at Lu Xingye.

Miao Anji added, "We’re quite sensitive to the smell of blood. I smelled it, which is why I went over."

"Jiang Li, you’re finally awake! Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Wu Ming asked with concern when she saw Jiang Li open her eyes.

Hearing the sound, the others immediately got up and came over.

Jiang Li sat up, holding her aching head. She thought for a moment, then looked at the others and shook her head. "I’m fine. I must have just been too tired."

Lu Xingye went to get the doctor, who examined her for a while. "Get plenty of rest when you go home. Young people shouldn’t push themselves so hard."

"Okay, thank you, Doctor." Lu Xingye saw the doctor out.

Jiang Li thought about the scene from her dream and frowned in confusion. ’Could it be... that something has changed again?’

And she did, in fact, feel much more exhausted.

"It’s nothing, don’t worry about me. I’ll probably be fine after some rest," Jiang Li said with a smile, looking at the others.

"Jiang Li, don’t just tough it out. Your health is your most important asset."

Wu Ming’s eyes were red as she held Jiang Li’s hand. "You should lie down and get some sleep. Tomorrow, we’ll have Xiao Nian make you some soup. Then we can go home and you can properly recuperate."

"Okay." Jiang Li smiled at her, then lay down to rest.

Seeing that Jiang Li had fallen asleep, Lu Xingye didn’t want to disturb her. "I’ll come back tomorrow, then."

「The next day.」

When she woke up, she felt much stronger. Seeing Yu Huannian come in with soup, Jiang Li thought for a moment and decided she had to confirm her suspicions.

Yu Huannian put the soup container down, ladled some into a bowl, and handed it to her.

Jiang Li took it and drank the bowl of soup.

Yu Huannian poured another bowl.

Jiang Li hesitated for a second, but still took it and drank.

Seeing her finish, Yu Huannian poured yet another bowl.

The corner of Jiang Li’s mouth twitched. "Xiao Nian, that’s enough."

"Oh, okay. When you’re discharged this afternoon, I’ll make you something else nice to eat." Yu Huannian breathed a sigh of relief. He was really afraid Jiang Li would be like his mom.

"Xiao Nian, do me a favor." Jiang Li took a pocket watch from her pocket and began to hypnotize him.

Yu Huannian stared at the pocket watch in front of him, his expression blank.

"Sister, what are you doing?" Yu Huannian asked, his eyes sore from staring.

The pocket watch instantly fell from Jiang Li’s hand onto the blanket. Her breathing couldn’t help but become ragged.

Just as she’d feared, her previous abilities were all gone.
