Chapter 177 - 175: Jiang Li is the Real Bomb
"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH!" Jiang Li choked and coughed.
Ji Yan tossed the cup aside and sat back down in his chair. "Continue."
Jiang Li stared at the M&Ms in front of her, then looked up at Ji Yan. "Are you really going to let them go?"
"Of course!"
Jiang Li glanced at the glass bottle beside her, then swept all the M&Ms into it.
[Oh my god, what is she doing! She swept them all in!]
[It’s over, it’s over. So many people are going to die.]
[Does she not understand the rules?!]
"There are no bombs in these things at all. Let them go!" Jiang Li clenched her fists and looked up at Ji Yan.
A flash of surprise crossed Ji Yan’s eyes, then he gave her a smile.
Seeing his expression, a bad feeling instantly rose in Jiang Li’s heart.
"You’re going back on your word?"
Ji Yan sneered. "Do I look like someone who keeps their promises?"
Then, Ji Yan took out a detonator, a crazed expression on his face.
[It’s over, it’s over! Haven’t the police found them yet?!]
The number of viewers in the live stream continued to climb, and the comment section completely exploded.
Zheng Qichuan watched the live feed, his entire body tense. He turned his head to look at Pei Yu.
"Pei Yu, have you pinpointed the location?"
Pei Yu’s forehead was covered in a layer of sweat. A few seconds later, he let out a heavy breath. "Got it. The location is in the seaside villa district."
When Zheng Qichuan heard "villa district," his vision went dark.
"This is bad, Captain! It looks like Ji Yan has planted bombs in the surrounding area!"
"Quick, contact the nearest units and have them evacuate the public!"
Zheng Qichuan yelled into his radio, silently praying that most people had already gone home to prepare for the New Year.
Watching the live feed as Ji Yan prepared to detonate, Zheng Qichuan cursed, "Dammit!"
He slammed his fist against the wall. ’I completely underestimated him.’
"Ji Yan!" Jiang Li ground her teeth in fury. ’This man is a monster.’
The group of bound hostages gradually began to wake up, and the sounds of their struggles filled the air.
Ji Yan picked up his gun, fired a warning shot, and said coldly, "Quiet."
The group glared at Ji Yan with fury, but none of them dared to make another rash move.
Miao Anji yawned, looked around, and leaned back in his chair, bored.
Yu Huannian felt a tickling movement next to him. He looked down and saw a shoe painstakingly working on his tight ropes.
Yu Huannian’s eyes shifted. He looked up in Jiang Li’s direction. She was restrained in her seat, basically immobile except for her hands.
Ji Yan frowned in displeasure as he saw everyone was awake. He was out of patience.
He was just about to press the red button in his hand when the restrained Jiang Li, for reasons unknown, suddenly braced herself against the table and launched a flying kick, knocking the detonator out of his hand.
Red Scorpion, who had appeared from behind a chair, lunged for the detonator and sent it sliding toward Miao Anji.
Seeing this, the group of hostages began struggling against their ropes.
"You’re asking to die!"
Ji Yan staggered back a few steps from Jiang Li’s kick. Once he recovered, he began to counterattack.
Jiang Li rolled, grabbed a nearby knife, and lunged forward to cut Yu Huannian’s ropes.
The next second, a gunshot rang out next to her hand. The impact made Jiang Li’s hand go numb. Yu Huannian grabbed a stool and hurled it at Ji Yan.
The gun was nearly knocked out of Ji Yan’s hand.
Jiang Li and Yu Huannian teamed up to fight Ji Yan.
[Holy shit, so cool, so cool! That girl is badass as hell!] The comments erupted in cheers.
Miao Anji picked up the detonator from the floor.
"Hey, kid! Hurry up and untie us!" Yu Hongqian shouted at Miao Anji, who was now free.
"Xiao Ji, hurry up and untie us! Otherwise your Sister won’t be able to handle him!" Lu Xingye said urgently.
Only then did Miao Anji go forward and untie Yu Hongqian’s ropes.
Yu Hongqian instinctively patted himself down, finding nothing on him. He then joined the fight.
Lu Xingye and Wu Ming helped untie the other hostages.
"Who has the bomb on them?!" Lu Xingye shouted, thinking of the detonator.
"Not on me."
"I don’t have it either!"
"Me neither!"
Lu Xingye suddenly looked at Jiang Li, who was in the middle of the fight, and a terrible premonition washed over him.
’It couldn’t be... ’
"Jiang Li! The bomb is on you!"
Jiang Li picked up a fallen handgun from the floor. Hearing Lu Xingye’s words, her mind went blank for a moment, and she reached out to touch her waist.
’I didn’t even notice it before.’
Ji Yan took a step back, looking at Jiang Li provocatively.
"Fuck your mother!" Yu Huannian was utterly enraged now, and each of his punches whistled through the air.
"PFFT—COUGH, COUGH, COUGH!"
Ji Yan coughed up a mouthful of blood and looked at Yu Huannian. Before he could get a clear look, punch after punch rained down on him.
Lu Xingye ran to Jiang Li like a madman. Jiang Li lifted the outer layer of her clothes and, sure enough, saw the bomb strapped to her waist.
It was even counting down. Six minutes left.
Jiang Li shoved the gun into Lu Xingye’s hands. "Go! Don’t worry about me."
Lu Xingye took the gun and aimed it at Ji Yan.
"Sister, hurry up and disarm it!" Miao Anji said, running anxiously to her side.
Jiang Li glanced down at it, then looked around. Little Li had disappeared right after telling her there were no bombs.
She didn’t know how.
"I don’t know how," Jiang Li said, her breathing ragged as she looked at Miao Anji and everyone else present.
She turned and ran outside.
Lu Xingye shot Ji Yan in the leg. Seizing the opportunity, Yu Huannian gave him a savage beating.
Seeing that Ji Yan was completely incapable of fighting back, Lu Xingye turned to look for Jiang Li.
But he didn’t see her, and his heart sank.
"Where’s Jiang Li?"
"Sister ran outside. She’s probably going to disarm the bomb," Miao Anji said, looking in the direction Jiang Li had run.
"How could she possibly know how to disarm a bomb!" Lu Xingye roared, then ran outside like a madman.
Hearing this, Miao Anji’s face instantly went pale, and he ran out after him.
As Jiang Li ran outside, her head spun and her stomach churned. She wanted to die, but she was also afraid of death.
Jiang Li looked at the bomb around her waist. It was completely different from what Little Li had described that day.
Her mind was a complete blank now; she had no idea what to do.
Lu Xingye ran out, and when he couldn’t see Jiang Li, he broke into a frantic sweat.
"You had a bomb strapped to you that day, and Sister cut it off you. You were fine!"
Miao Anji looked at Lu Xingye desperately, hoping to hear a reassuring answer from him.
"She’s just an ordinary person! Some bombs would give even a bomb disposal expert pause. Getting lucky once doesn’t mean you’ll be lucky every time!"
Lu Xingye searched everywhere. He had to find Jiang Li within six minutes.
Peng Hai came out with his men and also began searching for any trace of Jiang Li.
Lu Xingye grabbed Wu Ming. "Wu Ming, quick! You can do it! Find Jiang Li’s location, quickly!"
Wu Ming was scared out of his wits. Hearing Lu Xingye’s reminder, he frantically fumbled in his pocket to take out his Compass.
"All my tools are gone! What do I do?!" Wu Ming looked at Lu Xingye, so distraught that he started to cry.
Suddenly, a loud BOOM echoed from the distance. The entire group froze on the spot, stiffly turning their heads toward the source of the sound.
The moment they looked, they saw a mushroom cloud rising in the air.
Ji Yan, who was being escorted out by Yu Hongqian, also heard the noise and burst out laughing.
"HAHAHA! It was worth it, taking Jiang Li down with me!"
