Zhao Shuo rushed over with his team and found Su Mei in the bathroom.

"The deceased is Su Mei. Time of death, half an hour ago. Cause of death: asphyxiation.

The killer wrapped her entire body in yarn and then wet it, causing her to suffocate."

CLICK! CLICK!

Zhao Shuo recognized the victim, Su Mei. He turned and his eyes immediately landed on Du Xueqing.

Du Xueqing was leaning against the wall, her face pale.

’She never thought Su Mei would die, much less so horribly.’

Lu Xingye arrived at the scene and scanned the area. He then picked up a butterfly hair clip from a corner and placed it in an evidence bag.

The toppled water bucket nearby was also taken back for analysis.

Du Xueqing, Jiang Shuran, Chen Jiayi, and Liang Huka were all summoned to the police station.

"Du Xueqing, what were you doing at 9:30?"

"I was studying in the library." Du Xueqing looked at the officer across from her. "I know who that hair clip you found in the bathroom belongs to. It’s Jiang Shuran’s. I’ve seen her wear it before."

In the next interrogation room, Zhao Shuo faced Liang Huka. "Liang Huka, surveillance shows you were in a classroom with her an hour before the incident. What happened during that hour?"

Liang Huka leaned back irritably in his chair. "Su Mei knew how to knit scarves, so I asked her to teach me.

I’d just gotten the hang of it when she started grabbing at my clothes, so I left. I don’t know anything about what happened afterward."

Jiang Shuran looked at Lu Xingye across from her. ’Wow, they have young, handsome guys like this at the police station?’

Lu Xingye produced the butterfly hair clip. "Jiang Shuran, this belongs to you, right?"

Jiang Shuran glanced at it. "It was mine, but I gave it to Chen Jiayi later on."

"Officer, could I get your number? Someone died at school, and I’m really scared."

Jiang Shuran leaned forward, gazing at Lu Xingye with a look of pure innocence as a blush bloomed on her flawless skin.

Lu Xingye gathered his things from the table, stood up, and left to verify her claim.

Jiang Sheng arrived quickly, followed by Chen Jiayi’s parents.

Zhao Shuo saw this and thought, ’Is Jiang Sheng going to pull the same trick again?’

"Jiayi! Tell me, did you kill her? Are you insane?! Is this how I raised you?"

Chen Jiayi’s parents rushed forward and slapped her across the face before gripping her arm tightly.

Jiang Sheng walked over to Jiang Shuran and pulled her into a comforting embrace. "You must be terrified, my precious daughter."

Jiang Shuran trembled slightly as she felt his grip on her tighten.

"Mom, Dad, it’s all because of that bitch Su Mei! She knew I liked Liang Huka, but she still tried to seduce him! She had it coming! I only wanted to teach her a little lesson. Who knew she’d actually die?"

"It’s not a crime for a minor to kill someone! You can’t arrest me," Chen Jiayi snarled, her face contorted with rage as she glared at the police.

"It just means you can’t get the death penalty. Chen Jiayi, you bullied Du Xueqing, and now you’ve intentionally murdered Su Mei. Once the evidence is confirmed, you’ll get at least ten years—or even life in prison."

Ji Qinghe emerged from the side. Now, all they needed was the forensic report to identify the true killer.

Upon hearing Ji Qinghe’s words, Chen Jiayi was so frightened she fainted on the spot.

Du Xueqing watched the scene unfold. Her gaze swept over to Liang Huka, and she realized he had been staring at her the entire time.

’Chen Jiayi and Su Mei got what they deserved. Next up are Jiang Shuran and Liang Huka.’

When Jiang Shuran got into the car after leaving the police station, she could clearly sense Jiang Sheng’s displeasure.

"Dad..."

SMACK!

Before Jiang Shuran could finish speaking, Jiang Sheng slapped her ruthlessly across the face.

"Shuran, I spoil you, but haven’t I told you to listen to me?

The last time you came home, didn’t I tell you to tone it down?"

Jiang Sheng looked at Jiang Shuran, displeased. He knew his own daughter best; he wouldn’t believe for a second that she hadn’t had a hand in this.

Jiang Shuran clutched her stinging cheek, tears welling in her eyes. She had been furious when she saw the photo of Liang Huka alone in a classroom with Su Mei.

’Liang Huka knew how she felt about him, yet he’d rather be alone with that bitch Su Mei than spend time with her.’

’She had wanted to teach Su Mei a lesson herself, but that idiot Chen Jiayi beat her to it. So, she just gave her a little... nudge.’

’She never expected Su Mei to die so easily, though.’

"Shuran, starting tomorrow, you’re to stay home. You’re not going back to school."

Jiang Sheng glanced at the police station outside. He remembered Shi Xingchao’s orders and didn’t dare to act rashly. Otherwise, his entire family would become "the goods."

Jiang Shuran stared at Jiang Sheng in shock. ’Someone just died, that’s all. And now he won’t even let me go to school? This is infuriating!’

Du Xueqing left the police station with a mix of emotions. After a few seconds, she took a deep breath. ’Chen Jiayi was the one who did it. What does that have to do with me?’

Du Xueqing was about to hail a cab when she noticed Liang Huka was following her. She immediately abandoned the idea.

Liang Huka trailed behind Du Xueqing, keeping a slight distance. ’She came out but isn’t getting a cab... What if she runs into trouble this late at night?’

’Was she frightened by what happened with Su Mei and Chen Jiayi?’

Liang Huka didn’t know what was wrong with him. From the moment he found out Du Xueqing was the girl he’d been dating online, he felt like he was possessed.

Liang Huka strode forward. "Du Xueqing!"

Du Xueqing jumped, her usually cool expression replaced by fear. "Liang Huka, what... what do you want?"

She backed away in fear, but in the next second, her ankle gave out.

Alarmed, Liang Huka lunged forward and caught her by the waist. His body trembled involuntarily the moment the beautiful girl was in his arms, but then Du Xueqing shoved him away.

"The letter of forgiveness has already been signed," Du Xueqing said, watching him warily. "What more do you want?"

Liang Huka’s heart ached seeing her red-rimmed eyes and the tears she was desperately trying to hold back.

"Du Xueqing, I..." Liang Huka was just about to confess he was the guy she was dating online, but she had already run off.

Du Xueqing sneered inwardly. ’If he shows his hand this early, how am I supposed to deal with Jiang Shuran next semester?’

Back home, Du Xueqing took out her phone. Looking at their chat, she began to pour out her grievances. In public, she was the stubborn, model student; in private, she was the fragile, delicate flower waiting for her knight in shining armor.

Seeing Liang Huka’s guilty replies, she let a small smile grace her lips. The guiltier he felt, the better it was for her.

Du Xueqing took the 9.90-yuan scarf she’d bought, cut off the tag, and sewed a letter onto it.

Three days into the school break, Liang Huka received the scarf from Du Xueqing. He held it lovingly, unable to put it down as he examined it over and over.

Du Xueqing, meanwhile, put the designer scarf worth tens of thousands that he’d given her safely to one side. When this was all over, she would sell all the gifts he’d given her.

’It would be enough for her college tuition, and she could finally leave this family without a second thought.’

Du Xueqing drifted off to sleep, happily thinking about the freedom she would have after her college entrance exams were over.

In a lavish private room, Liang Huka, dressed head-to-toe in designer brands, looked utterly out of place with a cheap scarf around his neck.

"Hua Kai, where’d you get that scarf? Why does it look exactly like the 9.90-yuan one from Choice Goods?"

One of Liang Huka’s buddies mercilessly teased him about the scarf around his neck.

Liang Huka touched the letter sewn onto it and shot his friend a displeased glare.

"What the hell are you talking about? My girlfriend knitted this for me by hand."

"Oh really? Because it looks identical to me," the man’s female companion chimed in. She took out her phone, found the product image for the scarf, and showed it to Liang Huka.

"See? It’s the exact same one. Young Master Liang, you’d better not be getting scammed."

Liang Huka stared at the identical scarf on the screen. He froze, and a wave of fury washed over him.

’That bitch, Du Xueqing... did she know who I was this whole time? Was she just playing me for a fool?’

Furious, Liang Huka ripped the scarf from his neck and threw it aside. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

’In his entire life, no one had ever dared to humiliate him like this. That woman has a death wish!’
