Lesson 28 Reasons for Kindness

The day after the Spirit Festival ended, Rio was facing Latifah as he woke up in the sun leaking out of the window crevice and had breakfast, facing the sun in an unpopular inner square.

Latifah goes to Sarah and the others like a day in a row to learn the necessary knowledge as a people of the Spirit, but today is also a holiday the day after the Spirit Festival.

It has therefore been a long time since the day for the two of us to discuss this.

"It's been over a year since I've been in here, but how about that? Is life in here fun?

To Latifah, who spoke with pleasure, as I recall, Rio threw a question.

"Yeah! Like your brother said, it's so much fun with all these sweet people in here!

To the suddenly asked question, with a sunflower-like grin in full bloom, Latifah answers, and Rio smiles gently as well.

"Well, by the way, Latifah, I need to talk to you, okay?

And looking at Latifah in a changed way, Rio said.

"Uh, what are you talking about?

Noticing that Rio's atmosphere has changed, Latifah finds herself even as she is confused.

"I'm going to get out of here before it's too far away."

Then Rio cut out the topic to be straightforward.

"Huh..."

Biri, Latifah trembles.

"Prepare... or if I can learn what I can learn in here, I'm going to get out of here once and for all"

"... ya"

Latifah whines something in a small voice to Rio who tells him pale.

"So..."

"... no! Absolutely not!

Eventually the voice turned to shout to block Rio's story.

"Latifah......"

Rio gives a troubled look to Latifah, who has embraced him with his eyes, as when the lost child found his mother.

"Why are you going?!? You're going back to the human place? You're getting along with your sisters now, aren't you? You just have to stay in here the whole time!

Latifah moves his mouth as fast as he can make a strong appeal.

"It's the mountains that want to do that. I have a lot to do out there."

And Rio muttered in a meaningful way.

"Why..., it's like leaving me...?

As if it were an abandoned puppy, Latifah looked up to Rio.

If I take the time to stroke Latifah's head like that, little by little, she regains her composure.

Speaking of which, you didn't tell Latifah why I was headed east.

I just settled down enough to hear the story, and Rio muttered to Xu (Omoro).

Once he takes his gaze off Latifah and stares somewhere far away, Rio peeks into Latifah's eyes from the front again.

And I notice there are tears in Latifah's eye butt.

"I want to build a grave in my parents' hometown. He died in an exotic land without anyone particularly close to him. They both died when I was little, but that's how much I want to be filial. And..."

Rio closes his mouth by saying something.

"And... what?

It was Latifah, who listened in silence, but encouraged Rio to continue the conversation.

"No, it's nothing"

and Rio had a cold smile that was contained in his mouth.

"... you didn't know anything about me, your brother"

Latifah shrugged powerlessly after a period of silence.

"There's a lot I don't even know about Latifah."

That's what I said, I turn my bittersweet grin to Latifah.

"That's... yes..."

Latifah nods as if he's not convinced somewhere.

Eventually, when his eyes closed and he showed a sleigh that made him think of something, Latifah gave him a resolute look.

"You know, there's something I want to tell your brother, too. All of a sudden... you might wonder what you're talking about, and your brother doesn't know if he'll believe me..."

Rio perceived with agility that somewhere Latifah's atmosphere was different than usual.

Latifah has some uneasy look on his face as he peeks deep into Rio.

"You know, can you believe your brother was in his last life?

And, quietly, but with a good passing voice, she asked.

"Latifah......"

Slightly opening her eyes, Rio muttered her name.

"I was dead once. Originally in humans. So I was reborn and now I am... Eh, I don't know what you'd believe if I told you..."

Latifah desperately spins his words, as he envisions, wondering how to speak.

The word gets no guidelines, but Rio has a clear understanding of what she's talking about.

When Latifah, stuck in words, is silenced...

"... I know."

And Rio broke that silence.

"... Huh?

Latifah uttered such a voice, unable to understand the meaning of Rio's words.

"Latifah originally lived in Japan, didn't he?

But Rio poked at the heart of Latifah's secret.

"Duh, why..."

He was a Latifah who was violently upset and about to lose his word, but barely spoke the doubt.

"That's because I was Japanese too."

Then Rio speaks to Latifah in Japanese.

"Huh!?

Now it was time for Latifah's expression to stain with amazement.

"Japan... words..., Japan... people..., your brother is Japanese?

It is the expression that I did not expect.

"That's right. Ex, but"

said Rio in a very calm tone.

"I knew, I knew, I kept quiet... of?

Through surprise, his emotions fell out of Latifah's expression and he asked Rio flashly.

"Oh. It was the first time I made pasta and did it that Latifah realized it was a rebirth of the Japanese. You said 'spaghetti' then, didn't you? Pasta is an ingredient that doesn't originally exist in this world. Besides, I want you to tell me every meal you eat."

Explain to such Latifah why he brought the language back to the things of this world and Rio came to know her as a former Japanese.

"Duh, why! How could you not tell me!?

To such an explanation of Rio, Latifah accidentally became emotional and threw questions to Rio.

"Why not? How was it reborn? How did you get your memories back? I've thought about it, too. I had plenty of time to think about it. But what's wrong with having memories of a previous life? We're already inhabitants of this world. Even if we could go back, we wouldn't be in the original world anymore."

With that said, Rio leaked a gloomy inclusive laugh in his mouth.

"Huh..."

Not everything that Rio had thought about over the years was passed on to Latifah, but Latifah could also understand some of what Rio meant by what he was trying to say.

Nevertheless, in Rio's words, Latifah had not given him a peek at such expressions as realizing for the first time now the facts pointed out by Rio.

"And yet I shouldn't tell you anything that leaves me weirdly untrained. I thought so."

Sighing deeply, Rio said.

"Then why now..."

"That's because Latifah taught me about my last life. If you'd spoken of that fact, you'd have thought from the beginning to tell me about your past life."

Latifah listened silently to Rio say so.

"Plus there must have been a hint that I might be Japanese. I guess it's my dish or its name. It was the same name as the old world, wasn't it? Looks like Latifah accepted it as it was."

"Ah..............."

I guess I never even questioned it because it was made for granted and served. Latifah looked like something had fallen to her heart.

"And at the same time, I was thinking of telling you another story. You said it first when we traveled. He said that it was not until the realm of the Spirit People that we would act together. I really meant to do that at first. I saved Latifah because I didn't want to kill anybody."

Now he spoke to Latifah with a look like Rio was determined to do something.

…………

To Rio's story, with no words to give back, Latifah, just blindly, stares at Rio.

"But knowing that Latifah was a former Japanese, I have no less sympathy for your predicament. Eventually you started admiring me with your brother."

Latifah guessed that the pale Rio tone made him feel slightly gentle at this time.

"I was worried. I don't know what to do with this kid. At first, I was just trying to help you for passive reasons, but I was so self-absorbed and arrogant that I thought I'd have to protect you at some point."

Rio gave a slight peek at the expression as if it distressed something.

"So for now, I decided to hang out until I handed you over properly to the people in here. I didn't think we'd be together this long."

Once we stopped talking here, Rio looked to Latifah with a serious face.

Latifah wandered slightly into Rio's gaze as if he were peeking at everything.

"Latifah, I'm just a hypocrite with your guardian face a dozen years ago driven by sympathy and a sense of benevolent mission. Maybe you don't really deserve to be called my brother. [M] No, I don't. So I hope you don't think of me like a real brother."

With that said, Rio silently waited for Latifah's reply.

Because this is how I'm telling Latifah in my heart right now, it's just self-satisfying.

So you can continue to hate me by Latifah.

It was a fact I was prepared to tell you that.

Eventually, Latifah meditated his eyes to think of something and, biting his lips, looked to Rio as he had decided to.

"Finally…, I feel I can finally touch your heart. How could this man have helped me? I wonder how this guy can be nice to me. Though I've always thought that in a corner of my head, that's because this guy is my brother, and I've tried not to think that deeply. Because the kindness you felt from me was real."

And, suddenly, Latifah spoke in Japanese.

"... that kindness is fake"

When he opened his eyes slightly, Rio told him so briefly.

"No. It's real. Because I, I'm very sensitive to people's harm. As a pet, I was being hit with human harm every day."

Latifah leaked a grin containing a mockery somewhere.

"I am sensitive to people's harm. Even so, I was unable to live in a way other than subordination to people. So I wonder how far this guy will allow me to be selfish, when he will scold me. I said I wanted to keep up with you, and that's how I first thought about doing you harm."

Latifah's face, speaking of which, was just a sinking pain.

"But as I approached you, I immediately stopped thinking about that. Because I realized that the kindness that you felt was with what my mother felt in this world."

And Latifah has turned his loving gaze to Rio.

"When I met you, it wasn't strange when my personality collapsed. You gave me everything in this world. Kindness, freedom, peace, happiness, joy, family, friends. So..."

When he made a slight accumulation, Latifah opened his mouth as he had decided to.

"So... right. Can I call you brother after all?

Latifah showing somewhere frightened, Rio realized it was the same look she had when she first said she wanted to act with Rio.

"... oh, even if I leave the Spirit People Latifah is my sister"

With a peaceful grin, Rio nodded deeply.

"Brother!

Then, as he was impressed, Latifah held him to Rio in tears.

Rio takes such a firm hold of her.

How long have you been doing that?

Rio keeps refraining from crying Latifah.

For some reason Latifah's crying was pleasant.

Eventually, when the cry stopped, Latifah, who had buried his face in his chest, looked up at Rio.

"... you know, I'm still immature, and that's why I'm not going to tell you that I want to follow you with my brother. But I want to know more about your brother. Because that way I won't miss your brother while he's not in here. So why don't you tell me about your brother's previous life?

And Latifah said that.

Rio nodded small as he peered into a lonely grin somewhere.

"Right.... It may not be a very interesting story, but it's good."

That said, she gave a tickling look as she gently stroked Latifah's head.

And Rio told me about himself in his previous life and made me listen.

That I was a college student, that I had a childhood girl and that I had loved that childhood thing my whole life, but that she disappeared and the thought didn't pay off.

In the same way, Latifah tells Rio about herself in her previous life.

That I was in elementary school, that I had a lot of friends, that my parents worked together and were often alone at home, and that my family was still close.

Unexpectedly, it also turned out that the two probably died in the same car accident.

They were talking to each other until it was evening if they noticed.

From this day on, I guess the two became brothers and sisters in the true sense of the word.

"Ooh, ooh. This is... more friendly than usual. It worked, you mean?

When I got home, I saw Latifah pulling on Rio and Earthra said that with her eyes round.

"Yeah...... I told Latifah I'd be out of here any minute."

Take Earthra's gaze and Rio will report the results.

"Yeah! Me, too. I've decided to wait for your brother to come home even when he leaves!

When I saw Latifah's smile without giving in, tears leaked out of Earthra's eyes at the sieve.

"Ho..., when I get older, I don't cry... Lord Rio, I'm so glad you saved this child."

As he worshipped, Arsla shook Rio's hand.
