Seirei Gensouki ~Konna Sekai de Deaeta Kimi ni~

Episode 30: Parent Footprints

More than six months have already passed since Rio left the Spirit People.

You will be able to fly in the sky with the spiritual art of the wind, and Rio's speed of movement will rise out of step, leaving the Spirit's people to reach Yagmo in just about a week.

Yagmo is a generic name for the eastern region of the Euphorian continent, where there are more than thirty countries, large and small.

Organizations such as Adventurer and Merchant Guilds do not exist in the Yagmo region, as in the Strahl region, where Bertram and Galark exist, and the currency used is also different from that of the Strahl region.

In addition, different languages are used in the Yagmo region from those of the human race used in the Strahl region.

Yet Arsula, the oldest of the spiritual people who lived for many years, also spoke the language of Yagmo, and to the extent that he could have daily conversations, he had learned the language from Arsula.

Although pronunciation is not great now, I have mastered the language to such an extent that it does not interfere with everyday conversations.

Rio had asked the local residents their parents' names and were looking for someone they knew to crush each country in Yagmo from the west.

However, there is no clue as to the origin of the parents other than their name and the regional name Yagmo, and the current situation is that the search is difficult.

There are nearly thirty large and small states in the Yagmo region.

Finding two figures among all those nations is certainly quite difficult, even if it cannot be said that the task is tantamount to finding a needle in the desert.

Rio stayed in one country for roughly January to February, and had already toured four countries.

Each of the countries that make up Yagmo is characterised by one giant city each and a city or village that spreads like a satellite around it.

Now Rio is on his way to the city of the state known as Karaski, where he has just come to a slightly larger village located in the vicinity.

According to what I've heard, Karaski has a larger population than the cities that Rio has visited so far.

It may also be more likely that parents' information will be available than in other cities.

Rio thought it might be a good idea to stay a little longer this time, even if you can't ask all the humans around.

But before that, we must now gather information in the village in front of us.

Depending on the number of houses lined up, the population is about 300.

Fences are deployed to surround the village, and in the centre of the settlement are lined with slightly crude houses made of wood, lime, clay, etc.

And the countryside, grazing land and livestock huts were scattered around the inhabited areas, and people saw them working in the fields of cultivation and grazing in Rio's sight.

It is the sight of a simple village like anywhere else.

Rio takes a trip to the entrance to the village.

The watchmen are not stationed and are free to enter and exit, but the humans who realize the outsiders have arrived are staring at Rio far away.

The atmosphere seems to make me hesitate to step in unintentionally, but I can't just walk away like this.

Rio stepped inside the village to get things done quickly.

Looking over the center of the village, when you discover the village chief's house and a large house, you walk straight out of there.

"Uh, are you a customer? It doesn't look like a merchant from what I've seen, but I'm not a samurai or a samurai...... right? Wanderer...... or traveler?

Then a girl of supposedly Rio's age looked strange and called out to Rio.

Unusual.

Rio thought so.

Most of them don't come from villagers unless they talk from here.

It is normal to have some extra attitude even when you talk to him.

The girl appeared to have rough skin due to her qualitative clothing, farming, etc., but her short hair suited her well, making her look adorable and nostalgic.

By the way, samurai are in the same position as knights in the kingdoms of Bertram and Galark. The samurai are those who are in a higher position than the average soldier who takes up under the samurai. A wanderer is like an adventurer.

Armed, but Rio's appearance was far from the standard samurai and samurai aptitudes of this country.

rather than being roughly far from the armed style of this country.

The girl followed around wondering if Rio was a traveler from some exotic land.

"Yes, well, that's it. Actually, I was looking for people. I'd like to meet with the village chief of this village, if that's the village chief's house?

"Ah, yes! Yes, but..."

A girl replies as if she was in awe of Rio's polite waist, unlike a wanderer or traveler who could have been rough.

"That's good. Is the village chief at home?

"Uh, yes. Yes, sir?

You don't like altered language, leaning your neck, the girl said in doubtful form.

"May I guide you, if you please? Some people don't look so good when they visit suddenly."

And in some troubled breeze, Rio said.

It has been experienced many times during this journey that no matter how many village chiefs act as non-negotiators, if they are suddenly visited by complete outsiders, they will be suspicious.

Her presence was also convenient for Rio in order to make the interview smooth.

"Oh, yes! Well, uh, follow me."

Then the girl accepted Rio's request without a particularly reluctant face.

As it is, the girl guides him, and Rio walks to the village chief's house.

The girl is somewhere nervous, she keeps her mouth shut, but she has turned her intriguing gaze to Rio over and over on the road.

When Rio wondered if it was unusual for people to come from outside except the pedestrians, he just reached the village chief's house.

"Grandma! He's a customer! He's looking for someone."

Upon entering the village chief's house, the girl called the village chief out loud.

Shortly after entering the building, there is a hall and a heating enclosure is installed in the center.

"I hear you have to be that loud. If you're a customer, aren't you a pedestrian?... Oh, you... you're a face I don't see."

When an old man showed up there and saw what Rio looked like, he said with a strange look on his face.

"Hi. Nice to meet you. My name is Rio. Later, get to know each other."

Rio greeted him politely as he was used to.

"Rio...... You had someone with that name in the old king. Hey, I'm Yuba. What can I do for a village with nothing like this, not to mention if I'll find out in the future?

And, behold, the old man named Yuba said something that seemed surprising.

Even as he grinned heartily that he was still suspicious, Rio decided to ask the questions he'd asked in order to get things done quickly.

"Now, as soon as possible, I'd like to ask you something. Don't you know a man named Zen and a woman named Ayame? I should have lived somewhere in Yagmo at least fifteen years ago."

and say the names of the people you are looking for.

Zen and Ayame.

It is the name of Rio's father and mother.

How many times have you asked the same question before?

I've never had a fragrant answer back with this question in my mouth.

I can't help but hope somewhere in my mind that a similar response will probably come back this time.

If not, we will soon be walking away from this village.

But all this time, that expectation never betrayed Rio.

"... Zen? Zen? And like a shark..."

Yuba's reaction in front of him was different from what Rio has seen so far.

This old man obviously knows something.

It was a reaction that made me think so.

"Did you know!?

Rio, who is not usually too upset, also asks, inadvertently reinforcing his tone.

"... who are you?

Yuba has turned his gaze to Rio somewhere to be identified.

"... I am my two sons"

Although I was a little worried about telling the truth, it would be more about disclosing information here than asking questions.

Think so. Rio answers the question.

"Son... You..."

When she gave him a frightened look somewhere, Yuba looked at Rio's entire body with a giddy look to make sure of something.

"... Luli, you go that way"

Then he told the girl, called Luli, who was listening openly and intriguingly beside him, to pay for it.

"Yeah. Why?

And, Luli said, swelling her cheeks somewhere dissatisfied.

"Fine. I have something important to talk to this girl. We're here now. Don't tell the villagers."

"Huh? Okay... Yep. It sounds kind of funny."

Rulli leaves the house complaining about the bumps.

"So, you, you said Rio. Is it true what you just said?

Confirming that Luli had left, Yuba had turned his sharp gaze to Rio.

"By what I just said, do you mean you're Zen and Ayame's son?

"Oh."

And, with a serious face, Yuba answered briefly.

"Yes. And there's nothing I can prove even though I said it. I don't have any memory of my father, so can I at best tell you about my mother's characteristics and what she told me in her lifetime?"

"I'm sorry, can you tell me that? I can't even tell if you're really those two sons."

Rio had noticed that Yuba's gaze was mixed with somewhere suspicious verse emotions.

"I see. You're certainly right. Then let me tell you about what I know."

That being said, Rio began to tell memorabilia about her mother's characteristics and her father.

Yuba listens to the story in silence.

From the middle of the story, Yuba had a look she might miss somewhere and stared at Rio's face.

"... I'm sorry I doubted you. I'm gonna make you believe you're those two sons."

I have spoken to some extent and got a convinced look and a statement from Yuba acknowledging that Rio is the son of Zen and Ayame.

"No, because if someone shows up in front of you who names you as the child of someone who left nearly twenty years ago, you won't be able to believe it."

Nodding small as Rio agrees with Yuba's idea.

"It would help if you could say that. You have the face of Ayame. [M] I almost believed you, but I wanted certainty. So, Zen, how's Master Ayame doing?

And, in a slightly accelerated tone, Yuba asked.

I feel like I can't help but wonder what's going on with you two.

You can't possibly not pass on any more information that this person is an acquaintance of Zen and Ayame and that they are already dead than you care about the two of them.

"My father worlded himself in the fold of a baby. And my mother, when I was a child..."

And, about Yuba, the wind that answers the question but doesn't hide her curiosity, Rio was wondering what kind of relationship she was in with her parents.

"... well. Has she passed away? Damn......"

Yuba gives a peek at the look of loneliness somewhere.

"Um... may I ask you about my father's relationship with you?

And, Rio threw Yuba a question.

"I'm that kid's mother."

There was no wonder and surprise that I returned it because it was one of the answers I expected.

"Was it... Then you'll be my grandmother, won't you?

Somewhere embarrassed and bitterly laughing at the first time I met a flesh parent other than my parents, Rio says.

"Oh. You will. What a strange feeling. But he lived well. It's been tough."

Yuba stared at Rio with such a gentle face as the earlier tension had taken place.

"Well, that was pretty tough. But this is how I live now."

Take Yuba's gaze and Rio smiles vaguely.

From the look on his face, Yuba could not read how Rio had lived to date, his condition and Rio's feelings for it.

"Right...... So, did those two get to the end of the west properly?

At the end of the west, that probably means the Strahl region.

"Yes, because I was born in a country there."

"Right. That's good. If I could have had a son like you, I'd be happy for both of you."

"It's..., yes. I think so."

Past events that my father died in the middle of his work and my mother was murdered after rape, only moments pass in my head, says Rio.

"... well. That's good.... So you came all the way here from the end of the west, right? Why are you having such a hard time again?

Yuba noticed a slight change in Rio's expression over the years of experience, but did not hear it particularly deeply and asked why Rio had come from a distant Gentile land to this place.

"Yes, I was hoping to make my parents' graves in this land for you..."

There are no artifacts or anything, but Rio thinks it would be more pleasant to build a grave for you two in your hometown than in the land where that happened.

"... Actually, I already made those two graves"

Then Yuba uttered the unexpected words of Rio.

"The grave... is made?

What do you mean, Rio thinks.

It's not impossible to make a living human tomb from the beginning of your life.

But the tomb is supposed to be made on the assumption of sleeping in the land.

Zen and Ayame, Rio's parents, took the time to travel on a yearly basis, on dangerous journeys and to the other side of the continent.

The Strahl and Yagmo regions are on the same continent, but it is a Gentile land that knows almost nothing but the local names of each other.

Were the two of them going to come back to this land again for such a place?

At least as far as Rio knows, I've never seen my mother go back to Yagmo.

Why did Zen and Ayame have to leave the land in the first place, and there are many things we can guess if we can find out about it.

If you think about it, you won't get an answer, but you can ask a living witness.

Rio opened his mouth to ask Yuba a boiling question in his head.

"How did my father and mother walk away from Yagmo?

"You haven't heard anything..."

And, with a troubling look on his face, Yuba shrugged.

I wondered if she would know why because of the way things were going, and where Rio tried to ask for an explanation of the circumstances, Yuba slowly opened her mouth.

"... I'm sorry, but I can't tell you the truth from my mouth"

With a very sorry look on his face, Yuba has apologized.

"All I can barely say to you right now is that those two are felons, that they are treated as dead in this country, and that a small grave is being built outside this village"

Three pieces of information were then disclosed to Rio to add.

"Felon...... is it"

Rio said with a slightly puzzled voice.

What the hell happened to the two of us?

I cared, but I can't force myself to hear it from Yuba, and it doesn't feel like he's going to talk to me no matter how much I ask him out of Yuba's attitude.

We'll have to give up now.

"In the meantime, let me guide you to the tombs of Zen and Ayame. Will you feed them both?

When Rio kept his mouth shut, Yuba had said that.

"Thank you. Make sure you do. It's like I'm here for that..."

Stretched his spine, smiled, and Rio said.

Leaving the village chief's house as it was, he came to a small high hill outside the village.

It was a cozy place somewhere to look down on the surrounding area and see what the village was like.

There are two slightly splendid stone columns built there with potpourri, which seem to be maintained on a daily basis, and are small and beautiful without the appearance of weathering.

"This is the tomb of Zen and Ayame. The bones aren't buried, but they contain memorabilia for both of us."

Yuba looked down at the stone pillar with tender eyes.

"I'm the only one in this village who knows this tomb is the tomb of Zen and Ayame. The villagers don't even think this is a grave in the first place. Don't tell anyone in this village, including Luli."

"... ok"

The situation is still grasping, but Rio nodded small and admitted it.

"Maybe when the time comes, we can explain what happened to both of us"

And, what are you thinking, Yuba shrugged about that.

Hiraki, and Rio shifts his gaze from the stone pillar to Yuba.

"So aren't you willing to live in this village until then?

It was a face full of charity that reassured people somewhere.

"Are you sure?

Blink your eyes and Rio asks.

"You're my grandson. Don't let your grandson shy away from your grandmother."

Yuba said with a sunny grin.

"Plus there's plenty of room available. Luli's father died in the war, her mother died of an epidemic disease, and now she lives in a house where she and her daughter live."

The look on Yuba's face to say so seems somewhere lonely.

"Is that Mr. Luli? She..."

Predicting the pattern between her and Rio, Rio tried to throw a question.

"I'll be your cousin. I'm fifteen this year."

Yuba said to connect the words of Rio like that.

"Really...... You're not gonna tell her about this, are you?

"Oh, she doesn't know she has a cousin."

Rio nods with the meaning of acknowledgment in the answer as expected.

"Okay. Now, sweeten to your words and let me take care of you in this village for a while. Please."
