Section Eight: Burning Fire and Instant Words

After lunch the next day.

I am now traveling north of Reeka Wavo on cobbled streets with rags and carriages.

"Phew, phew..."

I slept well yesterday, but I'm still sleepy whether I slept too much or not. Sitting in the back of the carriage, playing cards with my sister, Ritzereich and my three, a great stretch came out in a row. Then my little mouth opened wide and yawned, as did Ritzereich.

"You're sleepy."

"Um, yeah."

It takes about three days by carriage from Reeka Wabo to Natali Narta Tsari in the capital. The carriage with food and water for everyone weighs quite a bit, but Goltmund runs it lightly without bitterness. When this minute seemed to arrive about half a day early, I recall Saluena telling Toslin at lunch.

"You and your sister were on the lookout early today. It's tough when you're asleep, so I hope you get some sleep by now."

"Mm-hmm. Then I will."

Moderate carriage shaking to such an extent that this butt won't hurt where I'm full and the sleeper has come. If you add some pompous cheerfulness there that makes you feel like a fall visit, you can't resist it anymore.

"Oh, can I have my knee pillow?

Though I heard that, I did not wait for a reply and put my head on Cotten and her sister's lap.

"Look, I didn't say I was good, did I?

"Yeah, isn't that nice? Hehe... Sister Warm"

"I can't help it anymore."

Your sister says so briefly and sighs, stroking my head. I love you, sister, who can say most of my life is fulfilling. I'm sure the reason I'm not homesick is because your sister spoils me like this.

"Nooo, you can't make it in front of me! I don't know. You said you could have knee pillows, but Lord... you looked at this one earlier, didn't you?

"Oh, 'cause... you can't"

Ritzereich's body is small. Naturally, then, I cannot expect the softness of my most important thighs on my knee pillow, and inevitably I chose my sister. But that seemed so humiliating to Rizzelaich that he rolled up his skirt with a red face.

"I can't. No! Look at this munchkin 'thigh!!

"Hey, because you don't have to roll. I don't have to see it. I know."

"I'm telling you because I don't know!! Open your eyes!! Don't go to sleep!! Use your washi knee pillow if you want to sleep!!

"Already, Ritzereich, shut up. Be quiet. I like my sister's knee pillow. Now you're going to sleep."

"Whoa, why the hell not! What's the difference between a washi and a rosary!?

"It's all there. Besides, I'm my sister. It's my job to sweeten my sister."

"Mr. Rizzelaich, would you like to use it, too, if you don't mind?

That's what your sister said and slapped him on the opposite knee. My sense of territory works pikun and mummy, but well, if it's Ritzereich, okay. Besides, I'm really sleepy.

"Look, come on. Sleep with me."

I pulled Ritzereich's hand and forced her head onto her sister's lap.

"Oh, whoa...? This..."

Then she also helps her own sleeper and instantly starts to tron.

"Pfft, that's amazing. Your sister's knee pillow."

"Yes, indeed… moderate softness and sweet aroma make me drowsy…"

Oh, boy, now I can finally sleep. I lay down again, quietly closing my eyes.

……

"What... Chicken!! No, no, no, no! Let's just say I want to put a knee pillow on Iris!!

"Nah, loud! Melancholy! Sleep fast!

"Melancholy!? I want to say I'm having a rough time right now!? That's right, that's right! Then I'm not giving up on you! Don't be prepared because I will keep wasting time on you until you mainly have knee pillows!!

"Ha, Sarah sounds so good... why..."

"Don't keep me with Sarah! I can't believe you're not the Lord's sister! Ha ha ha ha!!

"Why are you so good at it... I mean, sister... don't laugh and put this kid to bed..."

"Oh, I'm sorry... but heh..."

Oh, no. Your sister is in a laugh bump. My sister, who has a surprisingly low boiling point of laughter, can't count on me for a while when this happens.

In the end, Ritzereich will make a scene after this, your sister won't be able to stop laughing, so she's gone for a nap.

Naturally, the drowsiness for that matter comes all at once at night......

I heard you slept.

"Huh? No, I'm not sleeping. Yikes!? I'm not sleeping, I'm not sleeping."

I woke up in the voice of Saluena on the night when the patsy and the fire exploded.

"... sorry"

Yes, I confess. I was asleep. That was already rowing the boat funny.

"I have nothing to apologize for"

Saluena, sitting across the street from the burning fire, broke the firewood and put it on fire. Then the flame that was fading eats it and swells big.

Looking up after the rising firepowder, I saw a cracked sky in the shape of a branch leaf.

"If you're sleepy, can I sleep? I'll keep watch."

"Yeah, I'm up. Sleep tight, sleep tight, you'll be fine now."

"Right..."

Then again, only the sound of patsy and firewood being able to play sounds. When I'm alone with Saluena, I basically don't talk. Saluena is not the type to talk a lot either, so the silent time inevitably passes.

But there's nothing like awkwardness there. It's a sense of security and... Later, is it a nostalgia?

"I miss you."

"Hmm?"

"Look, when we were in Sorletta, it was basically just the two of us, right? Because I acted differently from my sisters..."

"Oh... speaking of which, you did"

"Is it nearly six months since I met Saluena?

Six months is not a long time, but it's never too short. I saw a lot of things in the meantime, a lot of things in her face. On the contrary, you could have seen a lot about me.

"Hey, can I ask you something? What kind of a goddess is that? How did you choose me?

I guess that's why. Until now, I was hesitant, but the question came out of my mouth.

Saluena opens her mouth with a stare at the flame after a little silence.

"First question... right. In an extremely subjective way... you're selfish, self-depraved, and you can't help it."

"Huh? Be objective. Is that it?

Should I not have asked? I'm a little scared that the image of the goddess in me is going to change.

"But it was sweet. Weird places, acting, attracting people's minds."

"... well, yes..."

"And here's another question... Come on, I don't get it. Maybe it's because I happened to be there, or maybe there's some special reason. Or it doesn't have to be that way, but maybe he liked it and picked it out."

"Ha, it just so happens... somehow..."

But, well, I don't even think there's royal blood running around. I'm just the bookstore's daughter. For the reason I was chosen, I feel it sticks better.

"But Laplice said he called it 'hope'. If so... maybe for some reason. I don't know if I'm going to ask him directly."

"... well... One day, will I see you? Saluena wants to see you, too, right?

The goddess lives in a quiet castle in the far north, a place where time freezes even - apparently. But that's all I know, and I don't listen to anyone who says they got there at all.

That information, that it is in the north, is also stated in Lanorout hero Tan, and there is nothing to back it up.

"Come on, I don't know. I do have a desire to see you, but if I did, I would have met you... but it doesn't seem like it's just a matter of wanting to see you."

Saluena pulls out the sword she puts on her knees and cuts the whole thickness to replenish the firewood she has left behind.

"... oh, shit..."

Right now, just for a second? Just a little, but were you muddled? Were you angry? I find it very rare that Saluena gives such a look.

Why not? I figured I shouldn't have asked? But I didn't have the power to put out the flames of curiosity that burned up once.

"Oh, yeah. When I saw that sword, I remembered. When we fought Maury, we tried to free Saluena's power, but it sounded like something had been played."

……

"Do you have any idea?

"Come on, nothing in particular."

"Really? Yeah? Yeah, that was my first time, so I was just wondering..."

"I was a knight. We will wield this power as we are asked if we are asked to."

Her words, lit by the lights of the flames, weighed heavily and I believed it.

"It's colder today than that. Isn't it cold in that light outfit? You should come over here."

"That's what I said before, who tickled me off with joy and bravery?

"Not me, at least."

"Shit in Saluena!! Because I'm not caught in that hand anymore hey!!

"I miss you. It's been cold on me lately."

"Didn't the word deserve it a thousand years ago?

I can hardly remember a word I can't relate to.

"Yes, yes, do you?"

I went all the way around the fire and sat down next to Saluena.

"Is this okay?

"You can't come complaining."

"Saluena is a loner. I'll make you sweet when you two are together."

"Lonely?

"Yeah, lonely. You know exactly what that word means."

I can hardly remember a word I can't relate to.

"Yes, yes, do you?"

When I keep my body, Saluena leans over again.

Under the canopy of the cracked stars, we turned our words intermittently like shooting stars, with potpourri staring at the shaking flames.
