SECTION II Warwolf

(... I can't even write this in Griddiz's letter...)

Me thinking that while my hair is stroked by the autumn breeze running through the meadows on a carriage folded in front of me.

The Warwolf soldier, who was the only two at first, but it has increased slightly around the streets, not to mention swelling up to dozens. Traveling surrounded by such an adult number of soldiers... this is already with you.

Well, in fact, we're criminals who broke the border, so if a felon like that enters the territory, it's important to a soldier. Something else seems to be going on, and I guess he asked for backup just in case he didn't miss us.

"Wow..."

But in that situation, my mind can afford it right now. Because there is something in front of us that clearly attracts more interest than a sense of crisis about what is going to happen.

"Surprised to see Warwolf here so much?

Carol sitting next to me said so and put my arm on it.

"Oh yeah......"

I wondered what I had answered, and I held my mouth. Because I heard that Warwolf in Hidden is wiped out except Carol... Oh, my God, you can't say that.

I don't know if you've guessed in my mind like that, but I start talking with Carol rocking her legs praprapra that can't reach the floor.

"You once told me about the destruction of a sea urchin by a human being."

"Oh yeah... before, just a little bit..."

Until then we were all normally flowering chatter while we proceeded on the white cobblestone of a well-kept street (this is one of the reasons I don't remember the crisis). But when Carol started talking about it, Pittari and I stopped talking. Even that loud Laplice is enough to have interrupted a verbal fight with Ritzereich.

"Is that it? If you only heard about this country without knowing it, that's what you'd think."

But Carol slaps Toslin on the shoulder in a way that's bright enough to kick in such a bit of a heavy vibe.

"You know, how many warwolves are in Toslin territory?

"Hmm? Right...... I don't know the details, but maybe not five hundred or so?

"What, are you there that much?

Not even Auschnell, the largest city on the continent, saw a single Warwolf but Carroll. That's how rare a species is. Even so, I just stepped into this country a little bit and this encounter rate...... What the hell is going on? And it can be said that wanting to wear a small neck is a natural accomplishment.

"In La Folia... or there was originally a Warwolf living around here. Thousands of years ago, during the Battle of Illua."

Illua Battle. That word I haven't heard in a long time. Toslin's explanation began with that word, which refers to the battle between Dark Dragon Auschnell and the goddess Ilua, king of Original Plains.

"... so that's when Warwolf lost to us elves, they took the land, they virtually enslaved us, right? This may sound like a bad elf, but monitoring Warwolf is naturally in that way because the elf was given the role... Then a thousand years. Now that the relationship between Elf and Warwolf is going on, well, in short, that's the thing."

"Was it? Indeed, Warwolf was on Auschnell's side with the fairy during the Battle of Illua. But..."

Carol nods at your sister's badly chopped teeth.

"Yeah, you mean people now, not demons."

"Generally speaking... but"

"What do you mean?

Sure, Warwolf used to be treated like a monster, but that's not happening right now. Although I hear stories of persecution in very small parts of the world, that is to the extent that I see and hear them in books and rumors, and I don't actually see them. That has also been proven on my previous journey with Carol.

The truth is that we can't even be in that situation because we're less likely to meet each other in the first place. In fact, the first voice was "cute" when I first met Carol.

"Atashi and Warwolf can't leave this country unless they have some special forgiveness."

But they're different in this country.

"Oh, you've never heard of that, have you?

"That's because it's not an explicitly cultured and externally published decision. I don't know if this country is ruled by elves, but I'm not in the habit of deliberately letting that happen."

"Is that because it's a long-lived species?

"Sort of. We're going to live hundreds of years. Someone remembers without having to write it down. As I said earlier in this country, someone is an elder."

They spoke so lightly. Especially with Carol's face that it's nothing, but isn't this some kind of story that's nothing? 'Cause it's a funny story that concerns me.

"Well, that's why Warwolf is not at all rare in this country. I guess there's more or less one in every house? With remnants from when I was a slave."

I've heard more about it, and now they no longer treat me like a slave like they used to, but they're still low on status.

Because Warwolf is basically more physical than elves, it seems that many people in this country live in the service of elves as small writers, aristocratic private soldiers and maids to grow crops.

I understood that there was really a handful of warwolves who lived outside the country like Carol.

"It seems that the hiding place where Atashi was born was created by someone who was disgusted with that kind of life."

"... it is..."

At Fretterli, I remember Carol saying she was the property of Toslin. I overheard it then, but it wasn't a joke or an exaggeration.

As I listen, I feel my heart get heavy. I read the book and knew that if the country were different, the lives of the people living there would also change. But now that I was on the spot and knew that someone close to me was being placed in such an environment, the fact left a clearer claw mark on my mind.

"Did you hate this country?

Toslin looked back at me and asked me that. I shake my head to the side.

"Yeah, that's not true..."

But I think I'm starting to look different than I just did. I just don't think the words "beautiful" or "nice" worded the colors.

"Well, just listening sounds like that, but most of the warwolves who actually live there aren't very dissatisfied with it. So did Atashi when he was in the Toslin family."

Ahead of Carol pointing out, there are two soldiers there who will lead us, and they are joyfully bickering. I can't feel anything like grandeur there.

"I know there are places where you don't feel dissatisfied because you don't know the rest of the world."

The side of Toslin looking at them was just a little different from that she usually shows.

I'm not your friend, your sister, or your face as the leader of the party. The look on his face as a nobleman and his side as a ruling clan...... what do you think.

"Master Iriburg. Please wait here as the Count will be here soon"

We were put through a big corner of the mansion. The floor was decorated with marble, conditioning with gold and silver gems on the walls and stunning paintings on the ceiling… it was just a whimsical reception room that felt like it had exhausted its luxury.

"Okay."

"Hmm, is this Uncle Phil Ortho and his mansion? Fine, but smaller than Auschnell's mansion."

Ritzelaich, who sank on the couch one foot away, said such thoughts as he nodded to Eagle Deep.

"That's the mansion the Marquis originally used, isn't it? I think it's wrong to compare it to that."

"Whatever, but I'm tired already. I want to take a bath and get some sleep."

Likewise

"You guys didn't do anything?

Laplice and Mippo start sleeping with only their faces out of my bag, not even moving on the sharp Carol scratch. Lately, Mippo's laplication has been remarkable. You might want to hit something before you start throwing up your poisonous tongue.

When I was secretly thinking about it, the door opened in a chatter. And a skinny man came into the room, wrapped in a luxurious robe, about between old age and epic age. I blur that out because the man is an elf. The actual age of an elf with a much longer life span than a person can be seen at all by appearance.

Two women followed the man in. I don't know how old this one is because I'm still an elf, but somehow I could feel that these three are parents and children.

"Oh, I missed you, Tosling!!

(Hmm?)

One of those two women, an elf with empty hair, said this to Toslin.

"You finally made up your mind to marry me for coming back, didn't you?

… and.
