When Qi Yang plays the piano at home, the two children gather around to watch. At the age of five, Qi Peng also followed and practiced, but this kid couldn’t sit still, sometimes couldn’t hold it for an hour, lacking the self-discipline that Qi Yang had at that time. Every time he practiced the piano, he would try to be lazy, much like most children, and at this time Full-time mother would become very strict, demanding that he complete his tasks every day.

Every time Qi Peng would cry and say: "Why doesn’t little sister have to practice? I don’t want to practice either, I don’t like the piano."

Full-time mother told him: "Don’t worry, she’ll learn when she’s five. We’re not letting her touch it now because her fingers haven’t developed fully and can’t be used too much. But you see, when you practice, she stands by watching you play, and sometimes she can even answer a few questions for me. If you don’t practice well and she catches up with you, wouldn’t you feel embarrassed?"

Qi Yue has quite a wide range of interests. Besides learning to swim, she can also draw, especially likes drawing. She holds the paintbrush herself, not that she paints very well, but she can calm down to draw, and after finishing, she will come to show it. Even if I can’t quite tell what her abstract drawing depicts, I would always open my eyes wide and say it looks good, praising generously, picking only nice words to say, because in our family Qi Yue is thin-skinned and loves being praised.

Although Qi Peng’s piano skills aren’t great, he’s really good at street dance. Through a year of learning, Qi Yue’s painting ability has significantly improved.

Boys should run and jump a lot, and the piano is just an entertainment instrument for them. But they must know how to play at least one. How can they not pass Piano Level 10?

Since Qi Yang started early and was taught by her, he had completed Piano Level 10 exam long before entering National Team training.

Therefore, these two children must also complete this goal before finishing primary school because they are Full-time mother’s children.

As a former pianist, if I can’t even teach my own children well, what would that look like? Whether for face or for the children’s future, the piano, being a world-recognized musical instrument, is a skill boys dabbling in can definitely use to show off in the future, as for girls, if not careful, they might just head towards a professional direction?

During elementary school years, Full-time mother values sports, musical instruments, and personal interests.

First, in terms of musical instruments, all three of them learn the piano.

To save money, trouble, and time, she didn’t give them the chance to learn other instruments. If they wish to learn, it’s not too late to learn when they grow up. After all, if they can pass Level 10 in the difficult piano, aside from the violin, other instruments are all about the same; with patience, there’s nothing they can’t learn.

Secondly, in terms of sports, Qi Yang learned swimming and basketball, ultimately turning swimming into his profession. Qi Peng can also swim but developed street dance as an interest. Dancing is also a large amount of exercise, and can also be recognized as a sport. Qi Yue is not yet five, starting with swimming. In the future, she can choose what sport she likes.

As for their personal interests, Qi Yang is very simple; it’s swimming. Because he truly likes it, he can unwaveringly pursue a professional path.

Qi Peng had only just learned a year of jazz before favoring street dance more, and turned this into his interest. As for piano, it’s something she’s forced him to learn, regarded as a talent. He hasn’t learned anything else, but in the preschool years, English conversational training was already incorporated into daily life from the age of three when their language ability began to grow, with systematic English learning needing to wait until after entering primary school. Before that, playfulness takes precedence.

Compared to the two brothers, Qi Yue is much simpler: swimming, piano, painting, English, jazz dance. Although she has the most projects among the three children, she is also the most diligent learner. Perhaps it’s due to bias, but she just doesn’t like Latin dance, folk dance, modern dance. Although wanting my child to learn, I always worry that my child might become the unlucky one among unlucky ones. So, I just let her practice jazz dance and occasionally follow her to practice some yoga.
