While she was feeling satisfied and Diamond was admiring the piece, the daughters and the daughter-in-law were in shock.
In fact, Che Ye-Jin looked at what Diamond was holding with a glint of jealous and reluctance, having recognized what she was holding.
The daughters felt envious as well recalling how their mother had adamantly refused to give them that piece of jewelry. They have always thought that she would be buried with it. Who knew that she was willing to part with it?
However, they didn’t become that resentful towards Diamond, especially accepting the fact that their mother was offering that to thank Diamond for saving Young-Jae. The reward for saving a life can even be higher compared to that piece of jewelry.
Meanwhile, the piece in question was none other than a gold and jade hairpin. When it comes to jade accessories, Diamond didn’t have many as Athary wasn’t a county of jade. Her thumb and family ring were made from an imperial green jade with the rest of the jade taken by the space fairy for the Golden space.
If she were to describe the hairpin, Diamond would say that the hairpin has a prong made of solid and polished gold. It has a crown made of imperial green jadeite, vibrant and deep as a mountain lake after rain.
The gold border has cloud patterns creeping inward like vines to grip the stone. From the gold frame hung delicate tassels of gold chain interspersed with seed pearls, which seemed to posses the ability to click when someone moves.
The hairpin looked very vibrant and bold. It made her think of the royal family and she just loved it from first sight.
If she were to wear it against her siler hair, she could already foresee the visual impact it would have.
Looking at the hairpin, Diamond suddenly had an urge to get her hands on more of these hairpins even if they weren’t antiques. Something that she can use on a daily basis wouldn’t be that bad. After all, with few options with her long hair, she could only play with hair ornaments and accessories.
After admiring the hairpin, she closed the box and looked at Madam Lim with a very satisfied smile on her face.
"I love this. Thank you very much," Diamond sincerely expressed her gratitude.
Madam Lim smiled happily, relieved that her choice was the right one. She couldn’t wait to see her wearing it one day.
"I am glad that you like it."
Whilst they were at the topic, Diamond shamelessly brought up her request.
"Aunty, if you happen to know where I can find such beautiful hairpins, even the modern kind, can you help me with them? I want a few for my hair. It gets troublesome at some point."
Madam Lim’s eyes light up upon hearing that and happily accepted the request.
"No problem. I know just the right person."
Diamond beamed happily at that and shamelessly brought up some suggestions, veering towards what she liked.
After the two had their wonderful talk on hairpins, Madam Lim then gave a look at her children and in-laws. They didn’t come to watch them talk after all, but she also understood that since they weren’t close, her children would also find it difficult to start a conversation with Diamond. She had to urge them to start lest Diamond leaves without them doing anything.
After receiving tier mother’s signal, Soo-Yeon was the first to respond.
"Miss Diamond, on behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank you for saving our little brother. Thank you very much for what you did," Soo-Yeon expressed her gratitude towards Diamond as she gave a polite bow, and Diamond smiled back at her future sister-in-law.
"I am glad to be of help. I didn’t do much," she humbly responded, not wanting to seem smug at all.
After all, she simply battled for a short time. She once battled with the book of the dead. What could this small curse do to her?
"Nevertheless, I still want to say thank you. To show my gratitude, please accept this on my behalf," Soo-Yeon was adamant and didn’t give Diamond a chance to turn down the thanks.
In the end, Diamond accepted a gift bag which she didn’t open right away. The mother’s gift didn’t matter but the children’s gifts were different. Even if a family is harmonious comparisons do exist. If they were all to give her gifts and start comparing, wouldn’t that cause a problem?
She would check them once she leaves and appreciate them all by herself.
After receiving Soo-Yeon’s gift, Diamond also accepted, Che Ye-Jin, Min-Ji and Na Young’s gifts respectively which were all in gift bags. In other words, apart from those who gifted her, no one else knows what the other party handed over.
With the sisters’ gifts received, Diamond was curious if Young-Jae had prepared a gift for her. And she wasn’t the only one thinking about that, but the young man pretended like he wasn’t around at all and kept his presence very minimum and no one pushed him despite their own thoughts.
Diamond exchanged numbers with the ladies as well as Young-Jae himself.
"I can’t help but wonder, how you did it? Does your culture have something like shamanism as well?"
"You are such a wonderful singer. How can you be so talented at many things?"
"I have read on the wonderful things that you and your fandom has done. It’s very inspiring."
"How long will you be staying? I was wondering if you will be free to attend an event with me!"
Time was flying and by the time they were done talking, and their friendship slightly better compared to before, the chefs had prepared dinner.
So, Diamond had another meal at the Jeong’s residence and they packed for her some dishes and snacks to enjoy back at the hotel. Diamond accepted everything with a smile on her face.
As she was getting ready to leave, accompanied by Ji-an who seemed to be working 24/7, something completely unexpected happened.
