Chapter 617: Are You Out of Your Mind?
Caden Lockwood stepped forward without a word, grabbed Logan Shaw by the collar, and punched him right in the face.
"Oh my God!" Ashley Sutton screamed, "Sir, why are you hitting him!"
The intense pain spread across Logan Shaw’s head, and as he looked at Caden Lockwood, there was instead a kind of defiant contempt in his eyes.
"It seems, you had a fight with Evelyn," Logan Shaw gave a cold smile, "and it’s because of me, no less."
Caden Lockwood frowned, Logan Shaw’s confident and mocking words further weakened his already fragile reason.
Caden Lockwood tried hard to remind himself not to blow up at a time like this.
He was here to resolve his doubts!
Noticing the swelling at the corner of Logan Shaw’s mouth, Caden Lockwood’s gaze moved downward to Logan Shaw’s suit pocket.
A flash of coldness hurriedly passed through his dark eyes as Caden Lockwood reached into Logan Shaw’s pocket and indeed found a coin.
Logan Shaw clearly didn’t expect that Caden Lockwood was there for the coin.
He instinctively reached out to grab the coin back, but Caden Lockwood dodged swiftly, leaving Logan Shaw grasping at air.
"You value it that much?" Caden Lockwood’s lips curled into a cold, ruthless arc as he spoke lightly, "Did Evelyn Morgan give you this?"
Playing with the coin, Caden Lockwood took a closer look at the date on its face, and sure enough, it was the year Evelyn Morgan was born.
"Give it back to me." Logan Shaw did not deny it, "Caden Lockwood, could it be you can’t even tolerate a coin?"
A coin?
Caden Lockwood laughed.
Looking at the coin, his heart felt like it was being cut into pieces by countless sharp knives, fragmented, bloody.
This was the keepsake between Evelyn Morgan and Logan Shaw!
Seeing how anxious Logan Shaw looked, it was clear how much he cherished her!
Caden Lockwood’s face was dark as he punched the wall, feeling a pain that couldn’t compare to the pain in his heart.
Evelyn Morgan protected Logan Shaw so much; was their relationship really that innocent?
Ha!
Caden Lockwood felt like an utter fool, a fool craving love, a fool afraid of being abandoned.
He felt increasingly powerless; whenever he tried to hold onto something, that thing would just slip further away.
If he harmed Logan Shaw, Evelyn Morgan would harm herself.
If he took Logan Shaw’s life, Evelyn Morgan would die with him.
The relationship had already reached this point, and Caden Lockwood couldn’t understand how long he was going to deceive himself.
His chest was clogged with thick resentment and anger, and the only thought left for Caden Lockwood at this moment was: revenge.
"A keepsake?" Caden Lockwood said word by word, "Let’s see just how important it is."
With that, Caden Lockwood threw the coin into the middle of the road.
As cars came and went in front of the hospital entrance, the coin kept rolling along, as if heading toward the drainage grate.
At that moment, the red light at the intersection turned green. Watching the coin about to fall into the drain, Logan Shaw’s heart twisted with pain, and he immediately ran out, hurdling over the barrier, to retrieve the coin.
The drainage was flowing; once the coin fell in, it was estimated that it would be impossible to retrieve.
"Logan Shaw!" Ashley Sutton shouted anxiously, "Are you crazy! There are so many cars!"
But Logan Shaw didn’t turn his head, his only thought was to retrieve that coin.
It was the only token of his and Evelyn Morgan’s bond.
The only happy life they had experienced together was testified by that coin.
