Chapter 50: The adventures of pumpkinmon II
A/N: Sorry guys, I was sick, I think it was the flu, so I didn’t want to turn on my laptop because my head was hurting. I decided to take the week to rest, but I’m back now! Here’s today’s Chapter. It’s time to finally conclude the Halloween adventure in the Digital World.
end of the note.
"Oh? So you are pretty smart, huh? I’ll give you that," Pumpkinmon exclaimed, acknowledging the Great King Scumon’s decision.
Then Pumpkinmon stepped forward, and without wasting any more time, he pointed at the giant Digimon. "Your reign of terror is coming to an end."
"Ah? You know nothing about terror!" the King Scumon yelled. "I will show you that my kingdom will be eternal!" the giant Scumon declared.
Pumpkinmon immediately opened the battle with his signature move, summoning a giant pumpkin above Scumon’s head. The King Scumon rolled to the side to dodge the attack, and in that instant, Halloween jumped forward, ready to attack at close range. However, Scumon summoned a rather large pile of poop and threw it toward Pumpkinmon.
In that moment, like a proper protagonist, Pumpkinmon pulled the axe from his head and cut the projectile in half, creating a path through the middle. Pumpkinmon landed on the ground as the giant pile passed behind him and crashed into the floor. He landed in a perfect superhero pose before looking forward at Scumon. "I can see you aren’t a mere minion either," he said as he stood up. "This battle... will be legendary." He pointed his axe toward the Scumon, who was also getting back on his feet?.
"That’s what it looks like. It doesn’t matter who wins. The legends will speak of us in the future," the King Scumon exclaimed. The two Digimon nodded at each other before preparing to battle once again.
Pumpkinmon rushed forward with his axe in hand and swung at Scumon, who raised his reinforced hand, covered in metal, to meet the attack. The two Digimon immediately became locked in a high-speed exchange, Scumon attacking with his fists while Pumpkinmon fought with his axe.
The sound of metal clashing filled the chamber, yet neither Digimon was willing to back down.
Then, in an unexpected movement, Pumpkinmon rolled to the side and unleashed a stream of fire that struck the giant Scumon directly in the face, forcing him backward in pain. From the entrance, Nanimon and a large number, if not all, of the Numemon watched the battle with wide eyes. They had never seen a battle of this caliber before.
Scumon responded by sending one pile of poop after another toward Pumpkinmon, but Pumpkinmon used Trick or Treat and summoned his giant pumpkin, placing it directly in front of himself to create a wall against the attacks. He then launched his axe upward, forcing the Great King Scumon to dodge, and from the side of the pumpkin, Pumpkinmon unleashed another burst of fire that struck Scumon.
"You’re even stronger than I thought," the King Scumon admitted, but he wasn’t going to back down. With a single jump, he crushed the pumpkin halloween had summoned and threw a punch toward the smaller Digimon. halloween crossed his arms to block the attack, sending him crashing backward into the wall.
Or so Scumon thought. Halloween used the wall as a surface to land on, then pushed off with his legs and launched himself forward. As he passed close to his axe, he extended one arm and grabbed it. The moment he reached the surprised Scumon, who hadn’t expected to be countered like that, Halloween swung his axe and carved a deep gash across Scumon’s body and face, which was essentially the same thing considering Scumon’s body was literally his face.
The Digimon immediately covered his face with both hands, and at that same moment, Halloween unleashed another burst of fire that ignited the back of Scumon’s body. The golden Digimon screamed in pain before looking at Pumpkinmon with genuine fear.
"It can’t be... It can’t!" Scumon exclaimed as he retreated, to the awe and terror of the other Digimon in the cave. Once again, the wounded Scumon and Pumpkinmon became locked in an exchange of attacks. Halloween used his axe to deflect the incoming strikes and counterattack, and slowly, the King Scumon began accumulating more and more injuries across his hands and arms, losing ground with every exchange.
"Just what are you?! What kind of entity are you?!" the King Scumon yelled, completely unable to understand Pumpkinmon’s power.
"Me? I’m just a pumpkin," Halloween replied as he jumped away from Scumon.
He then began walking slowly toward him again, his green cape flowing behind him and his golden eyes glowing. "However, I’m also Halloween, the noblest and strongest of all pumpkins."
In that instant, Halloween dashed forward and delivered another devastating slash to Scumon before landing behind him.
The King Scumon grabbed the new wound across his body and finally understood. He wasn’t a rival for this Digimon. He had never been one. To this Pumpkinmon, this entire fight had simply been a stroll. Was this Digimon truly the pinnacle of strength in the Digital World? Was this how high the ceiling of power had become? He couldn’t believe it. He refused to believe it.
Scumon moved toward Pumpkinmon and began throwing pile after pile of poop at him, but Pumpkinmon simply moved slightly from side to side, dodging every attack as though they weren’t even there. He continued walking toward Scumon and finally spoke.
"Bye, old rival..."
With that, Pumpkinmon summoned his giant pumpkin and let it fall directly onto the Great King Scumon.
Pumpkinmon didn’t even turn around to look at the end of the fight. He already knew it was over.
The Numemon stared at him in terror. To them, it was like watching death itself incarnate. They could never have dared to defy the Great King Scumon, yet this Digimon had walked into their territory, defeated him, and finished the battle without a scratch.
"Numemon, if you want to live, free the eggs and run away. As far as you can. Go somewhere I can’t find you," Halloween ordered.
Hearing this, the Numemon trembled before immediately grabbing the eggs and carrying them back toward the main area, the one protected by Monzaemon.
Nanimon was about to do the same, but Halloween placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Wait."
"Yes, boss?" Nanimon asked immediately.
"Well, you already know I’m not actually a boss, but what exactly is going on here?" Pumpkinmon asked, now revealing the truth of the situation—which was, well, that he understood absolutely nothing.
"What do you mean?" Nanimon asked, slowly turning around with a confused expression.
"Well, I fell down here by accident, and it looked fun," Halloween explained innocently.
For Nanimon, this was completely absurd. Had the Digimon standing before him really dismantled their entire operation just by accident?
"That’s impossible! You can’t take down one of the Five Seniors by accident!" Nanimon yelled.
Pumpkinmon simply tilted his head. "Mmm? What are those, and what do they do?"
The thing was, Pumpkinmon was genuinely asking out of innocence. Nanimon, however, responded as seriously as he possibly could.
"They are the rulers of the Underworld," Nanimon explained dramatically.
"The sewers?" Pumpkinmon asked again, still completely innocent.
"Well, I like to call it the Underworld, but yeah, pretty much," Nanimon admitted.
Pumpkinmon nodded before letting out a small laugh. "And who are they? What do they do? Do they steal Digieggs?" Once again, he was only asking out of curiosity, but for Nanimon, answering him was a matter of life or death.
"I only know two of them. Well, you eliminated one of them, King Sukamon. The other one I know lives a little closer to the city, somewhere around the middle of the island. It’s Garbagemon. He’s in charge of transportation. King Sukamon was in charge of incubation. I don’t know exactly what they do, but the Numemon steal Digieggs from Monzaemon from time to time, before they’re registered by him," Nanimon explained.
At this, Pumpkinmon became slightly more serious. "What do they do with the eggs?" he asked.
"I don’t know. I just get some data from time to time. That’s all I know, I swear over Kunlun, I don’t know anything else!" Nanimon exclaimed.
And just like that, Pumpkinmon believed him.
"Then this Garbagemon should know. Lead me to him," Pumpkinmon ordered.
At that moment, Nanimon began sweating cold. He had no other option, so he reluctantly began guiding Pumpkinmon toward Garbagemon.
Meanwhile, while Pumpkinmon was dismantling what appeared to be an underground mafia organization, Takuya and BlackWereGarurumon were eating chocolate and walking around the Valley of Beginnings.
It had been around three hours, maybe a little more, since Pumpkinmon disappeared, and the two of them had started becoming a little worried. Generally speaking, Pumpkinmon disappeared and reappeared whenever he wanted, but he had never been gone for this long before.
For now, they assumed it was simply because he didn’t want to see Monzaemon, so they decided to leave him alone. That was until they sensed a couple of Digimon approaching that clearly weren’t from the valley. They were Numemon, and they were carrying Digieggs.
The moment Monzaemon noticed them, he moved immediately. The Numemon would have ceased to exist if Takuya hadn’t intervened, grabbing one of them before Monzaemon could kill him.
"We should ask what they were doing," Takuya said to Monzaemon as he held the trembling Numemon in one hand.
"Mmm. Right."
Monzaemon brought his face closer to the Numemon.
"Speak."
"W-We were returning the eggs! Yes! On the orders of the Great Halloween, the strongest Digimon! Yes, yes! He, eeeeh... he defeated the evil Great King Sukamon and freed us and the eggs!" the Numemon exclaimed.
Hearing this, Takuya and BlackWereGarurumon looked at each other.
What the hell are you doing, Halloween?
Neither of them had any idea what this "strongest Digimon" nonsense was supposed to mean.
They immediately began asking more questions about what had happened and what this Sukamon had been doing. The more they learned, the more Takuya and BlackWereGarurumon wondered how the hell Pumpkinmon had ended up involved in this entire mess. They had supposedly come here to take a little vacation from hunting Perfect-level Digimon, and somehow Pumpkinmon had ended up fighting organized crime.
Just how bizarre was this?
"Can you take us there?" Takuya finally asked, rubbing his temples.
"I can’t. The noble Halloween said that we had to run far away from him," the remaining Numemon explained.
"That wasn’t a question, you know, right?" Takuya replied, an eye already beginning to twitch.
"O-Okay," the Numemon stammered.
Just how bad was this little slug’s day about to get?
With that in mind, all of them moved toward the place where Pumpkinmon had fallen and finally defeated the "Senior."
