Chapter 1204 - 1172: Hunt (Part 3)
"What?" Xiao Lin was stunned for a moment. "How high is the wall?"
"About three meters!" Murong Lengyue spread her hands, holding a ten-centimeter-long shoe heel in each hand. "I can’t jump over it like this, you have to compensate me with the same style, these shoes are limited edition, I waited almost three months to get them."
"Wait, wait!" Xiao Lin shouted. "You’re talking to me about shoes right now?" Three meters? Since when does Palermo have the need to build walls that high?
"But, my limited edition... ah!" Suddenly, Xiao Lin bent down and, amidst Murong Lengyue’s surprised cries, picked her up and tossed her behind him.
"Shut up, stupid woman! Hold tight to me, if you fall I won’t care!" Amidst the curses, Xiao Lin didn’t forget to land a slap on Murong Lengyue’s high, elastic butt, making a crisp sound.
"Xiao, you actually hit me." In the darkness, Murong Lengyue’s face turned as red as a boiled shrimp, her small hands vigorously pounding Xiao Lin’s back.
"If you move around again, I’ll leave you here." Xiao Lin threatened.
"You’re still cursing me, not even considering who caused this." Murong Lengyue cried out, her grievances surfacing.
"Shut up!" With feet as swift as the wind, he charged into the alley at full speed. This time, Xiao Lin’s speed reached its peak. The small woman on his shoulder seemed so weak and yet unexpectedly heavy. "Damn it, what do you eat every day, you’re heavy as hell."
"Xiao Lin, go to hell!" The one word women hate most is ’fat’, and this time Xiao Lin really stepped on a landmine, more than once.
Xiao Lin was too lazy to bicker with the woman anymore; the assassins had caught up, being a moment late could mean death.
"Ahhh!" The sudden acceleration made Murong Lengyue scream and cling tightly to Xiao Lin, her legs wrapping around his waist like soft snakes. If he’d known this would make her shut up, he should’ve sped up from the start. Xiao Lin felt like his ears were going to burst from her screaming.
Feeling the fierce wind by her ears, Murong Lengyue’s heart raced; if she wasn’t holding a living person, she’d think she was in a sports car. Her hands rested on Xiao Lin’s back; the warm touch and the breathy sounds in her ears made her feel incredibly at ease, if not for the constant smell of blood reminding her of Xiao Lin’s chest injury.
Indeed, after turning three corners, a three-meter-high wall blocked the way not far; Xiao Lin, bending forward and continuing to sprint madly, faced the wall without slowing down, even sped up.
Murong Lengyue couldn’t help but cry out, shutting her eyes tight, but as soon as she closed them, she felt Xiao Lin kick something several times, his whole body soaring, spinning wildly mid-air before finally stopping still.
Carefully opening her eyes, Murong Lengyue realized in surprise they had already leapt over the wall. No time to marvel at Xiao Lin’s terrifying capability, the scene before them made both her and Xiao Lin sigh helplessly.
"Ah, just my luck!" Xiao Lin stood there, his chest heaving, unsure if it was because the bullet was still lodged in his chest, the blood had stopped flowing from the wound.
"Is it safe here?"
"Huh? Oh! It’s safe."
Before them was a large construction site, despite it being ten o’clock at night, the site was still bustling with building activities, the heavy machinery filling the space with roars.
Luckily for them, the construction was focused on the right section, while the left section, where four buildings of over ten stories had completed their skeleton structures, lay in dark silence; if Xiao Lin could reach any of those buildings, they could use the darkness to hide, quietly evade the pursuing assassins, rest and adjust, waiting for Murong Lengyue’s bodyguards to arrive.
Presumably, chaos reigned outside, whatever the reason, the police can’t ignore a street shooting involving a VIP. Xiao Lin glanced at Murong Lengyue beside him, meeting her concerned eyes, his heart stirred briefly before being overshadowed by the gravity of their situation; the familiarity of her gaze nagging yet elusive.
The Murong Clan Leader was assassinated in broad daylight, the ensuing panic spreading beyond the Murong Clan, likely causing Palermo to turn every stone to find the culprits. Neither the mayor nor the security bureau would sleep peacefully tonight. Although slightly short of planned objectives, about eighty percent was achieved. (To be continued.
