Chapter 1185 - 1153: Launching the Plan
Chapter 1153 Plan Initiation
Meisai was already startled by the sudden appearance of Xiao Lin, and his unexpected intimacy in such an unmanned state surprised him even more. It was as if he had never seen this homely young man image since knowing this young master, more often seeing him as cunning and tough. Meisai awkwardly coughed, indicating that there was an outsider like him present in the room.
Xiao Lin raised his eyes unhappily and saw Meisai sitting at the side. There was no surprise in his eyes, just disdain for interrupting his demeanor. "Hey, Meisai!"
"Hello, Young Master Xiao."
With the scent of a shower still lingering, Xiao Lin pushed himself up with one hand on the back of the sofa and jumped to sit beside Xia Xue, grabbing a cigarette from the table and lighting it up. "Stay for dinner, I’m cooking today."
"Young Master Xiao, I’m here for business."
"Well! If you really were here for business, you wouldn’t have brought something like this." Xiao Lin said while pointing at the photo on the table. "This is just a snapshot from the screen; isn’t it a bit insufficient for evidence?" Xiao Lin didn’t expose Meisai’s ulterior motives, instead he had something to ask. "Meisai, don’t you think we should have a serious talk about certain people and certain issues?"
Xia Xue smartly brushed away Xiao Lin’s approaching hand. "I’ll prepare the dinner; you two come up later!"
"Sure, I’ll have West Lake Vinegar Fish, Crab Roe Soup, and..." A pillow was thrown over to shut Xiao Lin up. "Hehe, women are just like that, Meisai; tonight you’re in for a treat. My lady doesn’t easily cook for outsiders, except me."
Uh... Meisai didn’t know how to respond. He opened his mouth with a dumbfounded look, making Xiao Lin laugh heartily. "Let’s go to the study!" he said, already turning with the ashtray in hand into the room he came from, signaling Meisai to follow.
Once in the study, Xiao Lin seemed like a different person; he stood by the bed, overlooking the entire floor beneath him. "What’s your relationship with Mu Rongyun, Meisai? Why were you there? Also, do you owe a debt to the Xiao Family or Chopin? Though it doesn’t make much of a difference, Chopin could be seen as my brother."
His directness caught Meisai off guard. He stared at Xiao Lin’s thin silhouette for a long time, sighed heavily. "I have no relationship with the Xiao Family. Chopin can be said to be my benefactor, I owe him. As for Mu Rongyun, we have no interests, but I can’t say we have no connections that easily; I am Tang’s legal guardian."
Xiao Lin suddenly turned around, quickly stepping forward, getting very close without uttering a word. "I know what you’re asking; I can’t give you any definite answer. But what I can tell you is that Tang is not an ordinary person; his identity is all fabricated."
"How did Mu Rongyun achieve this?" Meisai indirectly confirmed Xiao Lin’s suspicion.
"Night Forbidden!"
"What?" Another mention of ’Night Forbidden’. This was the second person to claim involvement in this from the Black Doctor’s account. "You know ’Night Forbidden’?
"I know about it from Mu Rongyun, thanks to Xiao Mu, so I accepted Tang, feeling he might be of some assistance to me." Meisai naturally pulled a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. "But I must remind you, it is impossible to take away Tang."
"I didn’t mean to take him away; I know his dead truth calmly. I don’t know what secrets lie within ’Night Forbidden’; I don’t believe in resurrection." Xiao Lin took a step back, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. "I believe I handled that day’s video cleanly, yet how did you get it?"
"Tang!" Meisai revealed a USB the size of a keychain in his open palm. "No one else knows about this. Besides, it includes dialogues between your international top leaders, which Tang asked me to hand over to you." Xiao Lin’s pitch-black eyes narrowed. "Up to now, the favors I owe can be considered repaid, but do not let me catch anything on you in the future. After all, I am a policeman; what you’re doing touches on law, regardless of your reason, it involves murder."
"Murder is for self-defense. If someone wants to kill you, would you have me surrender?" Xiao Lin raised his hand before Meisai spoke. "Don’t tell me about you cops; Xia Xue’s words you have yet to fully hear. Your subordinates are unreliable."
"Now you have a choice—work with me or stand by." continued Xiao Lin. "Cooperate, and you’ll know all my plans. You can bring your people, add glory to your career as director, or stand back for self-preservation. For the rainbow, I will also ensure you live well."
Meisai didn’t take long to consider; the two sat in silence on either side of the study. Xiao Lin still held the USB, heavy in his hand.
"Was it you who killed that man who fell?"
"Including the one on the rooftop."
"Who were they?"
"At first, I suspected they were sent by Wang Weibo to stop us from reaching his trading spot, which was ’tomor’, but later he denied it."
"So you killed Wang Weibo?"
"No! Except for him, I didn’t kill him." Xiao Lin answered neatly, though it was over a hundred people, which was quite ruthless. "I wanted to kill him, but you cops arrived too quick; another person killed him."
"The two women at ’tomor’, was that your doing?"
"Meisai, we are not at the police station; I am not your prisoner, although you can arrest me right now."
"Fine, I’ll watch my tone." Meisai arched his brows. "When you killed those assassins, Wang Weibo was indeed at ’tomor’ along with three Chinese men. But afterward, two of them died in a car crash together, while Wang Weibo was killed at home in the same timeframe, just within half an hour. No matter how skilled you are, it would be impossible to cross Palermo in such a short time. Since you admitted causing Wang Weibo’s case, then those two Chinese men have no connection to you; I want to know who killed them."
"I also want to know; I suspect there is another force hidden behind current major factions, with unclear intentions."
Meisai uttered a sound without asking, waiting for Xiao Lin to continue. "Some things I won’t explain. When Chopin finds you, he should tell you part of it. Shao Weihua being in Sicily is entirely because of the market here—drugs and arms. To share this with Italy requires either mutual interests or elimination. Whether it’s the former or latter, it involves the Xiao Family. There’s no Xiao Family force in Sicily; it’s due to signed agreements earlier, mutually non-interference on both sides. But should Sicily be threatened, the Xiao Family will come forward to mediate, which is undoubtedly inconvenient for Shao Weihua."
"So someone wants to eliminate the Xiao Family."
"Yes, you can say that, and Shao Weihua’s first step was achieved. The current drug market is in his hands; next is the Northeast. But now, another force has emerged, wedged between us, friend or foe unclear, possibly wanting to consume both."
"What’s your plan? Returning from the storm, it won’t just end like this. I don’t see you as someone who sits and waits, like your treatment to Genovis, helping a Mafia isn’t Xiao Family style."
Hehehe! Xiao Lin suddenly laughed, sending a chill creeping into Meisai’s heart from the laughter. "Take this back." He handed the USB to Meisai. "Although it is important, I think keeping it is beneficial for you. After all, it holds evidence of my crimes, providing you protection."
With that, Meisai was entirely defeated, unable to understand what this young man was thinking. He returned potentially incriminating evidence to the police, essentially handing over his lifeline. "Aren’t you afraid I’ll turn against you?"
Xiao Lin smiled without speaking. "Whichever way you handle it, for me to give it to you means I haven’t considered what you would do. My plan won’t be hindered by this—it’s just beginning the hunt."
An icy smile climbed to his lips, causing Meisai to shiver. This man was as eerie as the study itself.
When Robert returned to his position, it surprised no one, as if he had just taken a tour outside as the one replacing Casabell Jenvies, and now was back to his post.
At the monthly meeting, his seat was arranged next to Nicholas. His reappearance boosted his status, naturally causing resentment among some. Still, observing Nicholas’s dark expression, no one dared voice opposition at the meeting. To Nicholas’s right, an empty seat bore Augusto Lucchesi’s name, though this person was now their taboo topic.
Robert shook off his clothing under the crowd’s gaze, moving beside Nicholas. He wasn’t late; others had arrived early. As always, unrestrained, Robert’s seating caused a loud noise, provoking public anger.
Nicholas lowered his eyelid, glanced at Robert, lifting his left hand to silence others. "Robert, have you discovered anything significant recently? I heard that Mr. Su, who previously negotiated with us, met a mishap and your men suffered heavy losses. You should provide the clan leaders an explanation." (To be continued.
