Chapter 1181 - 1149: The Man Throwing a Tantrum
Chapter 1149 The Man Throwing a Tantrum
"It’s so good to have you!" Xiao Lin laid his head on Xia Xue’s lap like a child, his large hand gently rubbing her smooth skin.
On a stormy night, Yelu Shou found a silent Xiao Lin on a secluded beach. The rising sea was about to engulf the shore, yet the storm showed no signs of abating. Yelu Shou called out repeatedly from a high point, but Xiao Lin seemed to be in a trance, oblivious to any sound around him, lost in his own world.
When the tide rose, Liu Yi’s corpse floated up and began drifting away from Xiao Lin. Suddenly, he frantically pulled the body back and tore it apart. Yelu Shou watched in horror; he had never seen Xiao Lin vent his anger on a lifeless body like this.
The sea scattered the shredded remains. Xiao Lin lay back, letting out a long howl, then suddenly fell into the water. Fortunately, Yelu Shou was prepared and pulled him out, bringing him back to the cliffs. Otherwise, when the Black Doctor arrived with Chuck, he wouldn’t have known where to find this troublesome master.
"I have something I want to tell you." Xia Xue spoke softly, playing with Xiao Lin’s hair. Xiao Lin was brooding, and she wouldn’t ask until he decided to speak. In the meantime, she would bring up other topics to distract him.
Everyone has moments of vulnerability, unrelated to strength. After all, people are not gods; humans have emotions and unsolvable worries, especially someone as emotional as Xiao Lin.
"What’s wrong? Is someone giving you trouble?" As she expected, anything concerning her would make him tense. Xia Xue pushed the tense half-upright Xiao Lin back down, patting his head.
"Someone did come to see me, but not to cause trouble." Xiao Lin lay with his back to Xia Xue, unable to see the loneliness in her eyes or the flash of worry on her beautiful face. "While you were away, your fiancée came. As women, we clicked, but as rivals in love, I’m not confident I can win against your entire family."
Xiao Lin didn’t turn around, but from under her fingers, Xia Xue could feel him tense up when she mentioned fiancée. He must be angry! But that doesn’t matter; it has to be faced sooner or later.
"Murong Lengyue!" Those four words seemed to squeeze out from between Xiao Lin’s clenched teeth, feeling he had already made his warning clear and firm.
"You’re a man; you shouldn’t treat a girl who loves you like this."
"What makes you think she loves me? I never knew this woman. Fiancée? That’s the old man’s business; what’s it got to do with me? I don’t want to hear you mention the word fiancée again."
"Before getting angry, why not ask what she wanted with me?" Xia Xue paid no attention to Xiao Lin’s tantrum.
"I don’t want to ask, not interested."
In the darkness, Xia Xue looked at her man, covered in wounds, and despite her tear-blurred vision, she embraced him without hesitation. She was grateful for her courage earlier and for his survival that brought him back into her arms.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, the same news spread successively. "Xiao Lin appeared in Sin City."
For some, this news wasn’t welcome. Xiao Lin’s return alive implied someone else had died. For some, it was a never-doubt win-until a violent storm unfurled a tragic scene.
Those who once stood by windows, gazing at the shoreline, returned to their lives, no longer on tenterhooks. After tonight, they realized there wouldn’t be an easy time again.
This gamble brought back someone assumed dead, breaking the calm. It was a harsh wake-up call, leaving some restless.
"He’s alive again!" Nicholas stretched and curled up on his favorite sofa, tracing shadows on the velvet with his fingers. He addressed the Angel across from him, keeping his eyes closed. "His return means trouble for some."
"Do you hope he’s alive or dead?" Angel paused, halting the book in their hands after hearing Nicholas. The sound of flipping pages resumed after a moment. A faint, subtle smile appeared at Nicholas’s mouth.
"His being alive doesn’t harm me, but neither benefits. Do you understand our current situation?" Nicholas sprang off the sofa to Angel’s side. "It’s like this." With two rubber bands in hand, he connected them. "The center knot is our Italian Mafia. The left is the Xiao Family, the right is Shao Weihua. If any party exerts force, the opposite reacts, and we’ll splinter with a snap." As Nicholas spoke, he snapped the rubber bands.
"That analogy is spot on, but there’s another way: sever one side first, and there’s no more rebound." Angel closed the book, her round eyes fixed on Nicholas’s handsome face. "The storm will soon cease. Since he’s returned, I think it’s time you made your choice; three months are nearly up, and I’m going to find Raphael."
On the table lay a pitch-black scepter, distressed by dark red blood stains, yet it didn’t diminish its sheen in the light.
Palermo welcomed the first ray of sunshine after the storm, but it hung heavily over many.
"The other two perished on the island." The Northeast Provinces also received the news of Xiao Lin’s ship approaching the coastline amidst a stormy night. When informed, the first thing done was to turn off the lights and go to bed.
Right now, facing the Assassin Group members, he appeared exceedingly calm and also extremely cold. "Is this your decision or the decision of the Dan Clan?"
"Killing members of the Assassin Group will result in being hunted down relentlessly; I think you understand this very well." The Assassin Group had a total of twelve people, six remained by Dan Qing’s side, six were taken back to Sicily by Yi, and now only three were left, currently standing before the Northeast.
"Only one person came back alive?"
"I should have died there too, but Xiao Lin asked me to bring a message back."
"What message did he ask you to deliver, and to whom?"
"He will personally go to the Dan Clan a month later to sort out this matter with us."
This matter naturally referred to settling the account of killing the Assassin Group members. "Is there a conclusion now? Accepted or not?" Northeast continued to ask.
"The leader is currently having a dispute with the clan leader, so there is no conclusion."
This was the foreseeable outcome; Dan Qing would not let the Assassin Group harm Xiao Lin. "Has he gone?" The Assassin Group paused for a moment and then nodded. "Notify me when you have a result, you may go now!"
Dan Ning frowned, his position in the Northeast was actually quite pathetic, not to mention the arms transported from Yanjing had yet to find a reliable location, even his own assassins he couldn’t command; wasn’t that laughable? "Your smile seems rather helpless." Yi appeared at the door, not bothering to knock before entering.
"I owe it all to your boss’s blessing." Tossing a cigarette to Yi, Dan Ning propped his feet up on the table. "He’s back, but killed two Assassin Group members, and now I’m stuck in a dilemma."
"No, no, no!" Yi shook his hand as he spoke. "The one truly stuck in an inextricable predicament isn’t you, it’s definitely Shao Weihua."
"What do you mean?"
"Besides those two, someone else died on the island." Yi took a drag from his cigarette, paused mysteriously, and Dan Ning rolled his eyes at him.
"Alright, a case of BARRETT M82A1 in exchange."
"Deal!" Yi’s grin widened.
"With all the weapons you can get your hands on, you still come here to extort." Dan Ning muttered miserably, feeling quite unlucky.
"Trust me, this case of BARRETT is absolutely worth it."
"Stop with the nonsense, speak quickly, or I’ll blow your brains out."
"Qin Lin!"
"Who?" Dan Ning jumped up from his chair instantly, incredulously glaring at Yi. "Who did you just say?"
"You’ve clearly heard, yet you ask again." Yi tilted his head and looked at Dan Ning disdainfully. "That guy also took out the deputy of the military commission, Qin Lin."
"Is this an official declaration of war?" Dan Ning leaned on the table; Xiao Lin was a smart and strategic person, and something like killing Qin Lin, Dan Ning absolutely couldn’t believe this was a sane person’s act.
"Probably not a declaration of war, but certainly a show of might." Yi shook his head. "You and I both know that the protagonist behind this is Quan Xianglin, Shao Weihua wants to cooperate with you because he’s targeting the routes in your hands, wanting to confront the Xiao Family, political power alone isn’t enough, money is the key factor, Quan Xianglin isn’t short of supporters, but he lacks money, Sicily is a gathering place for Mafia, a refuge for sin, only in sin can money increase rapidly, getting money in clean places isn’t as quick and easy."
"Though you speak reasonably, killing military commission members isn’t something you can do at will, wouldn’t Quan Xianglin make further moves? Killing central leaders is a crime enough to make Xiao Lin suffer."
"Hmm, it is enough for multiple deaths, it allows Quan Xianglin to wield considerable control." Yi sprawled entirely on the sofa, his long legs occupying the three-seater sofa, propping his head up with one hand as the cigarette between his fingers burned steadily. "Qin Lin’s death naturally has impacted Quan Xianglin; if he could send Qin Lin for this mission rather than entrusting it to that idiot, it means he’s already lost confidence and utility value in Shao Weihua, just that he didn’t expect Xiao Lin to be so disrespectful; a person who originally didn’t expect to return alive wouldn’t be a surprise if dead, just the blow is a bit heavier."
"Quan Xianglin wouldn’t expose his own men for personal greed, but such a high-profile person with an official title can’t help but draw attention, right?" (To be continued. If you like this work, please feel free to vote on Qidian (qidian.com), your support is my greatest motivation.)
