Chapter 1242 - 1210: Fierce Battle Intensifies (2)
Chapter 1210 The Escalating Battle (2)
When Lucifer wrapped the steel whip around Yelu Shou’s neck, his left hand defiantly opened outward between the whip and his neck. The tension caused the steel whip at the back of his neck to leave bloody marks. Close to Yelu Shou, Lucifer felt a chill rushing towards his lower right abdomen. He didn’t expect Yelu Shou, despite fending off the whip with one hand and being critically wounded at the back, could still launch a counterattack with his right hand. Taken off guard, Lucifer quickly retreated, but it was too late. Before the whip could loosen around the neck, the left claw tightly gripped onto the escaping whip, forcefully keeping Lucifer within arm’s reach. The left hand desperately locked this distance, while the right hand shot swiftly towards his chest.
Swift return! Counterattack! All in one fluid motion, even Lucifer, with all his prowess, couldn’t evade—unless he was willing to abandon his weapon.
"Madman!" Lucifer’s body was sent flying, doing a flip mid-air and landing steadily on the ground, with five claw marks deeply gouged across his chest, bone-deep. "Do you think trading one arm can bring you victory? That’s wishful thinking, this is just the beginning."
"Is that so? No matter, the ones behind me will avenge me. I have no regrets. If you can’t kill me today, then Consort Ling will be mine." Yelu Shou laughed wildly. "Lao Jiu!" he suddenly shouted. "If I don’t die today, according to your ’Black Crow’ rules, doesn’t her life belong to me?"
Lao Jiu stood slack-jawed, never before had he seen Yelu Shou in such a state, he forgot to reply!
"Well?"
"Yes!"
"Good!" Yelu Shou spat out a mouthful of blood foam. "Lucifer, no matter how you calculate, you lose, understand?"
Lucifer squinted his eyes at the young ruler before him. At this moment, he perhaps understood why this ancient race could steadily develop under such a newly appointed ruler, who overnight slaughtered all dissenters. Such action would be daring for any big shot, knowing that killing all key leaders at once would expose one’s weakest side to enemies—especially at a time easiest for others to trample over. But this guy actually did it, killed and replaced them all overnight, yet still maintained order amidst chaos.
Throwing away the whip in hand, Lucifer surprisingly approached the Magician. "Lend me your weapon."
"You’re not joking, are you?" The Magician, thinking the situation didn’t involve him, showed a worried expression towards Lucifer.
"Do I look like I’m joking?" Lucifer’s gray eyes gleamed. The Magician took a deep look at him, then pulled out a weapon resembling a trident from behind himself. It was entirely black, but the spikes were much thinner and longer, and the haft had the length of a longsword.
"Soul Suppressing Halberd!" Yelu Shou immediately recognized this ancient weapon; he hadn’t expected it to always be with the Magician, no wonder he seldom used weapons, for he didn’t wish to expose such a deadly tool.
"This thing chooses its master!"
"Are you afraid I can’t control it?" Lucifer took the Soul Suppressing Halberd, instantly feeling a strong tremor in his palm, almost losing grip.
"It’s hard to control. Once released, it won’t stop until it draws blood. If you don’t truly want to kill him, then don’t use it." The Magician wanted to offer a final warning, but Lucifer was already bolting towards Yelu Shou with the Soul Suppressing Halberd.
Clang clang! Raising his right claw to block, the halberd emitted a wail under the vibration—a cry from countless wrongful souls trapped within it.
Lucifer applied pressure with both hands, and the already severely wounded Yelu Shou was unable to withstand such force, gradually pressed down by Lucifer, unable even to spare strength to counter.
It seemed like an already decided battle, when a shadow suddenly darted between the two from behind. As long hair lifted, Yelu Shou felt the pressure on him disappear, replaced by the sound of fists clashing.
Hua Qingyi was already grappling with Lucifer barehanded, dodging the halberd’s sweep. Hua Qingyi’s right fist thunderously aimed at Lucy’s abdomen with simple yet powerful force. The halberd withdrew to block in front of the abdomen, nullifying Hua Qingyi’s assault, retreating a step, yet Hua Qingyi didn’t pursue but instead shielded himself in front of Yelu Shou.
Attack? Defense!
This was Hua Qingyi’s attitude to Lucifer. When Hua Qingyi rushed down, Troy and Black Doctor both pulled back, positioning themselves in front of Yelu Shou. Lao Jiu glanced at Angel and stood in front of the three, instantly forming a strong dual-layered defense, their intentions understood even without words by those wise.
"Today was truly worthwhile." Nicholas, always lurking in the shadows, murmured softly. "Murphy, don’t you find this interesting? I truly envy Xiao Lin, having such loyal allies. I’d rather exchange my position for these people."
"Indeed, while it seems the gray-haired man gained the upper hand, Murphy believes Black Street won in essence, even if this time ends in a crushing defeat, the true victors are certainly them." Murphy spoke with heartfelt sentiment. "But Master, you really should leave now."
"Persuade that woman, she leaves and so will I." One sentence frustrates Murphy to no end, as Nicholas maliciously flashes his pearly whites at him.
As Yelu Shou spit out a few mouthfuls of blood foam, he shouted at those before him. "Get out of my way, who told you to step out?"
Lao Jiu raised an eyebrow, shouting towards the back. "Make that useless guy shut up."
The Black Doctor obediently walked towards Yelu Shou, lifted his left hand shaking it, causing Yelu Shou to cry out in pain.
"Hmm, there’s pain indicating it can still be treated." Leaving this comment, he carried Yelu Shou over to the cottage behind.
Seeing the most troublesome man taken away, Lao Jiu strode forward, leaped up, his red hair like a blaze towards Lucifer’s stance, opening and closing the fan in his hand, raising a gust sweeping dust towards Lucifer.
"Courting death!" Lucifer roared angrily, not waiting for Lao Jiu to descend, charging upward to meet his attack speed. The three-pronged spike of the halberd cut into the underside of Lao Jiu’s fan, causing the airborne man to panic, forcing him to withdraw his hand, rotate his body in mid-air, the opened fan abruptly snapped shut, lowering it down onto the three spikes of the halberd. As soon as the fan handle touched the halberd, Lao Jiu felt a sharp pain in his palm, desperately wishing to throw away the fan. (To be continued.
