Chapter 1196: Person for Person Exchange

Three moves! Not more, not less, just enough to end a life. Everyone watched this overly dramatic scene unfold, as Chang Ying died without even deploying the Gu Technique he was best known for.

Shoot the bird that sticks its head out! That bird now lies on the ground, with a pool of blood slowly spreading beneath his prone body, prompting Zhou Zhao’s men to begin to stir. Perhaps it was the craving for bloodshed; the agitation persisted until Xiao Lin took action again and halted it.

No one knew what he intended to do, only watching as he approached Chang Ying’s corpse step by step, using his toes to propel it upwards. The over a hundred-pound body soared into the air, and his toes, not touching the ground, kicked the airborne corpse.

With a booming crash! The corpse fell into the crowd like a heavy bomb, causing those unable to evade it to suffer serious injuries on the spot. This action immediately caught the attention of another person, who had been silently observing Xiao Lin from behind the crowd. During the process of Chang Ying’s slaying, his eyes never left Xiao Lin, recording every move like a camera, even the subtle habits that might linger.

When their eyes met, Xiao Lin found the owner of those eyes amidst the crowd. Being watched like prey didn’t feel good at all. Just as he prepared to advance, a rustling sound arose, causing Xiao Lin to instinctively look up.

The two-story side buildings of the manor seemed higher now, with more henchmen appearing, each armed. Upon closer inspection, it seemed as if some guns lacked serial numbers—could this be the batch shipped from Yanjing? Noticing this, Xiao Lin slightly furrowed his brows; no wonder they couldn’t be found, they weren’t in Palermo at all.

Xiao Lin stopped in his tracks; his current position was very disadvantageous. He was like a living target, potentially subject to becoming riddled with bullets at any moment if Robert gave the order for a machine gun onslaught. Even a novice spraying bullets randomly wouldn’t spare him from this fate. In front lay the main building of the manor, taller by a floor and a half than the side structures. At this moment, Robert stood on the second-floor terrace, telescope in hand, feigning a smile.

A bootlicker is like its master—Shao Weihua acted this way too, such consistent posing ability.

"Robert, what a big scene this is; I’ve arrived." Xiao Lin raised his head, his retreat blocked. During the brief skirmish earlier, those shocked quickly found their positions; above were guns, below were cold weapons. Xiao Lin calculated internally that dealing with those below would be easy enough; simultaneous attacks from both directions would be strenuous. Wondering how things stood with Xia Xue, if he could find her whereabouts, he could afford to take a chance—it might be challenging, but not completely hopeless.

"Young Master Xiao is quite obedient, not bringing along your little sidekicks? Wherever you go, there they are, life-and-death brothers. How come you ventured here alone to take a beating this time?" Robert continued observing Xiao Lin through the telescope, feeling extremely comfortable watching him raise his head, his tone becoming increasingly arrogant. "Is it just you?"

"Haven’t you seen already? It’s just me here and your people."

"Ah, how do I know those little sidekicks aren’t hidden somewhere? You, Young Master Xiao, are ruthless and crafty, daring even to shoot your senior leaders; what aren’t you bold enough to do, especially with the backing of the Xiao Family?"

"Whether I brought anyone, shouldn’t your companion be aware? Having an assistant with marksman skills, reaching a point of serving Shao Weihua, I truly pity you."

"Hahaha, Young Master Xiao, don’t bother sowing discord here; I’ll let you in on something. Someone offered big money for the life of your woman; I can spare her, but it’s up to whether Young Master Xiao is willing to be gracious."

"Person for person, you want Wang Zhanting, and I’ll give him to you." Xiao Lin didn’t pursue who offered the money further, which caught Robert off guard. Through the telescope, he studied Xiao Lin’s face, unchanged, not even a shift in expression.

"Person for person? Hahaha!" once more harsh laughter erupted, Robert shook with tremors, his grating voice on the open ground flitting like fallen leaves on the wind. "Young Master Xiao, did you misunderstand? Wang Zhanting? Hahahahah!" Robert laughed and spoke simultaneously, almost choking, possibly even shedding tears from laughing so hard at close range.

Xiao Lin patiently waited, his eyes scanning the nearby henchmen; the man from before had already hidden among them.

"Ah! Hehehe, hahahaha, excuse me, it’s incredibly amusing."

"No worries, you can continue if you haven’t laughed enough." With that said, the spikes in his hands began to rotate. With the end of his sentence, he rapidly began running around the open space in circles. The henchmen felt their vision blur, and before anything else, a cool breeze swept over their necks causing weakness in their legs, leading them to collapse to the ground.

One hand clutching his throat, his eyes turned from confusion to grey, eventually falling to the ground motionless. Robert’s laughter lingered in the air from the second floor, while Xiao Lin maintained a smile as if he had never left, meeting his gaze. Meanwhile, screams erupted behind him, as if time were frozen for everyone except him, outside the timeline.

Robert lowered the telescope, or more precisely, threw what he held at Xiao Lin. The screams gradually decreased, and in the blink of an eye, a third of the hundred or so people lay dead. Such astonishing speed and precision left Robert unable to laugh anymore. Xiao Lin silenced him using his own methods.

"You Xiao, do you know you’re making me very angry right now? Understand the consequences when I’m angry?" Xiao Lin shook his head, pointing his spikes toward Robert.

"Now we can continue."

"Good, good, very good!" Robert repeated ’good’ several times, sounding as if each word were gnawing on Xiao Lin’s flesh, crackling and snapping.

"Person for person, how about it?"

"Young Master Xiao, are you truly foolish or feigning foolishness? Wang Zhanting, what’s that worth? I should actually thank Hua Qingyi for killing him; such a person is only a nuisance when left around. Only that fool valued him so much, ended up being sold yet counting money for him—one of such kind is quite enough." (To be continued.
