SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will

Chapter 607: Moon’s Condition [2]

Rowan stepped through the same gate Moon and Kael had used a few days prior.

The floating island greeted him. He walked through the familiar corridors to the medical wing of the base.

Talan heard the footsteps before Rowan reached the door.

The tank stood up from his chair beside Moon’s bed. His broad frame straightened. His eyes tracked toward the entrance, waiting.

Rowan stepped through.

"Anything?"

Talan’s voice was low to avoid disturbing Moon.

Rowan nodded. He pulled the pendant out of his storage ring and moved to the side of the bed.

His hands were steady as he lifted Moon’s head just enough to slip the chain over it, then settled the pendant against his chest. The blue stone at its center pulsed once as it made skin contact.

"What’s it for?" Talan asked.

"Boosts his base constitution stat. Should stabilize his body’s baseline while we get him to the healer."

"That’s it? That’s everything they gave?"

Rowan shook his head. His hand went back to his storage ring and produced the silver vial. He held it up so Talan could see it clearly.

"Peak Second Order health potion for emergency use only. If his vitals crash during transport, I feed him this. It’ll buy us some-time regardless of what’s happening underneath."

Talan exhaled slowly.

"Good. And on the other end?"

"There’s a healer waiting on Earth. Powerful one. She’ll take over the moment we get him through the gate."

Talan nodded. He didn’t ask anything else.

The two of them and the two healers on staff coordinated in silence. Moon’s bed had transport wheels, which made it easier to move. They slowly began to move the bed toward the corridor, the wheels rolling across the stone floor.

Moon winced.

The motion was gentle, but even the mild jostling registered on his unconscious face. His brow furrowed. His lips pulled tight for a moment. His breathing hitched by the smallest fraction.

"Keep your eye on him." Rowan whispered to the healer walking beside the bed.

She nodded without looking away from Moon’s face.

Her focus was absolute.

They moved through the corridors at a slow pace. The healers monitored Moon’s vitals every few meters. His breathing continued in the same shallow rhythm it had held for days.

Three quarters of the way to the gate, everything changed.

Moon’s body tensed slightly beneath the sheet covering him. The purple discoloration that had faded days ago began to creep back toward the corners of his mouth.

The healer’s expression tightened.

"His vitals are dropping sharply!"

Rowan didn’t hesitate.

His hand went to his storage ring. The silver vial came out. He unscrewed the top and tilted it against Moon’s lips. He gently opened Moon’s mouth with his other hand and let the silvery liquid pour down his throat. He held Moon’s chin closed for a moment to make sure he swallowed.

For the first three seconds, nothing happened.

Then Moon’s breathing steadied. His vitals stopped dropping.

The healer exhaled slowly.

"It’s holding."

"Move."

They picked up the pace.

The remaining distance to the gate passed in a blur. They arrived at the portal chamber with Moon’s condition critical but no longer worsening. Rowan looked at the shimmering surface of the gate.

’Please. Don’t let the teleportation aggravate whatever this is.’

He nodded to Talan and the healers.

They pushed the bed through the gate.

They emerged into an open site, staffed with a full team of Surpassers that had been waiting for their arrival. Their hands were already glowing with active skills. Their eyes were on Moon before their feet had crossed the intervening distance.

At the center of the team was a woman in her late forties.

She was slender tall, her hair was chestnut brown, pulled back into a low knot. Her eyes were a gentle green and her face was beautiful.

She moved to Moon’s side without a word.

Her hands slowly lifted.

A wave of green light poured out of her palms and wrapped around Moon’s body. The healing energy lifted him gently off the bed, suspending him a foot above the surface as the light knit itself around him in a cocoon of healing energy.

"I’ll take him from here."

The rest of the medical team fell in around her without needing instructions. They moved as a single unit, following the floating cocoon of green light out of the chamber toward the private orbital pad beyond.

Tom Glassy was standing at the entrance to the pad.

He watched Moon float past in the green cocoon. His expression was controlled, his hands clasped behind his back. His eyes tracked the young man’s still face in hidden worry.

Alaric Sky stood beside him.

The Light Sword Saint had arrived within the last twenty minutes. His travel had been direct, and he had left every other obligation on his desk to make it here in time.

Neither of them spoke as Moon passed them.

Stacey’s team moved into Tom’s private orbital.

The hatch sealed behind them.

Tom exhaled slowly.

Alaric didn’t move for a long moment.

Then, they both followed the medical team.

A few hours later, Stacey came out of the medical room inside Tom’s orbital.

Tom and Alaric waiting for her response.

"I have stabilized his condition, his life will not be in danger. However, I won’t lie to you. His mana channels, and spiritual acupoints are damaged... I’m not sure if he could ever recover and return to his previous state."

Hearing this, both Alaric and Tom’s faced darkened immediately. This was terrible news, Moon was a prodigy among prodigies, having his path shut down this early on... was something that they couldn’t dare imagine.

"Are you saying that there is no cure?"

Stacey shook her head, "No, I’m saying that, the process will likely take a few months... perhaps years. And... his potential could potentially be stagnated, it’s a serious injury after all."

"He will be fine... he has his ways." Alaric responded.

Stacey looked at Alaric, before shrugging her shoulders. "I will keep an eye on him. I opted out of restoring his arm for the time being. To keep his condition stable for now."

"Okay. Thank you." Tom nodded his head.
