Chapter 24 | Martial Demon, Legendary Skill
Power surged through Leon’s body like a tidal wave, his wounds beginning to heal as the new class settled into his very being.
His eyes flashed with renewed determination as he felt the strength flowing through him, a power unlike anything he had ever experienced.
"What... what is this?" Leon whispered, his voice filled with awe as he looked at his own hands.
He muttered "status" and his panel appeared before him.
[Name: Leon Dreemur]
[Classes: Power Fighter, Martial Demon (Special)]
[Talent: None.]
[True Title: None.]
[Level: 10 (Max)]
[Constitution: 18]
[Strength: 32]
[Agility: 16]
[Spirit: 13]
[Attribute Points: 0]
[Skills: Power Charge, Super Strength (Passive), Demonic Arts]
And of course, after granting a class to a new vessel, much like with Iris, Alicar received the feedback from the contract.
Ding!
[You have gained the "Martial Demon" class.]
[Skill: Demonic Arts]
"Only one skill?" Alicar lifted his eyebrows, a hint of confusion crossing his face. ’Hm...’
He immediately opened the skill’s panel to make understand what it could do, his curiosity piqued by the unusual name.
[Skill: Demonic Arts]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Level: 1 (+)]
[Description: Forbidden techniques passed down from the demon lord Vorgath the Unbroken. Demon Fist and Demon Guard. You may be able to learn more techniques as time passes.]
’LEGENDARY?!’ Alicar’s eyes widened in genuine shock, his heart racing with excitement. ’And it seems there’s actually two techniques, and you can learn more of them, meaning that even though it’s one skill, it’s like acquiring two!’
Leon’s shock was just as great as Alicar’s at that moment, his expression a mixture of confusion and awe as he processed what had just happened to him.
"Who the hell is Vorgath?" he asked Alicar as he got up, his voice carrying a note of genuine curiosity.
"No idea," Alicar shrugged, his expression calm despite the chaos around them. "Doesn’t really matter, I think..."
At that moment though, something very strange happened that made everyone’s blood run cold.
Because while Sera, William and Iris were busy fighting the Sun Beast, it suddenly smashed its legs against the ground, its massive body trembling with power.
And then it opened its beak wide, revealing a dark, swirling energy beginning to form deep within its throat.
Inside of its mouth, a dark orb of energy began to grow, pulsating with malevolent power that seemed to drain the light from the air around it.
The moment they saw it, both Leon and the injured Sera’s eyes widened with recognition and pure terror.
"What’s happening?" William asked the injured woman, his voice trembling as he backed away.
"RUN!" Sera shouted, her voice cracking with desperation. "It did that once before, and when it fully charged it... killed everyone..."
Everyone around the Sun Beast could sense the aura coming from it, the dark orb continuing to grow larger and more unstable with each passing second.
Alicar as well as the others immediately got ready to run, their instincts screaming at them to flee from the impending devastation.
Or at least, that was the case until the Sun Beast turned its massive head and aimed its mouth directly toward Iris.
It had recognized Iris as the most annoying one remaining, since Sera was injured and barely standing, Leon and Alicar hadn’t really fought it, and William stood no chance against its power.
It wanted to get rid of her as soon as it could, to make sure that it could feast on them all later without any resistance.
And as soon as he saw that, Alicar understood that running away wasn’t possible anymore, this was their moment to take their stand, otherwise they’d just keep running away forever.
Also he didn’t really wanna lose Iris at this moment, not after everything they had been through together.
’What even happens once one of the people I make a contract with die?’ Alicar wondered, his mind racing with dark thoughts. ’Perhaps... I lose the class.’
The Sun Beast’s attack charged to its maximum potential, the dark orb now the size of a wheel, and right as it was about to unleash it on Iris, Alicar rushed forward without hesitation.
"ALICAR," William shouted, his voice filled with panic and disbelief. "THAT’S SUICIDE, YOU CAN’T, YOU’RE JUST A MAGE!"
But Alicar didn’t care, instead he reached right where the Sun Beast was standing, its piercing gaze looking down at him with cruel amusement.
And instinctively, much like he did the first time with Elemental Attack, as if he had known how to use this ability his whole life, Alicar used his new skill.
His right hand started to roar with demonic energy, a dark aura surrounding his fist as he drew upon the power of the Martial Demon class.
And using his Demonic Arts, Alicar swung his fist upward with all his might, his body moving on pure instinct.
Behind him, the faint image of an all-powerful demon appeared, its massive form mimicking his movements with perfect synchronization.
The demon’s fist followed his, and Alicar hit the Sun Beast just like that, his attack striking the creature’s lower jaw with devastating force.
Usually, Alicar would not have the strength to even make the Sun Beast budge as it was too strong for someone like him to affect it.
But thanks to this new Legendary-Rank skill, it was possible, the demonic power amplifying his strike beyond normal limits.
BAM!
The demon’s hand struck under the Sun Beast’s head, forcing it from the sheer impact to start looking up toward the sky.
At that moment, it released its attack, a devastating energy blast that shot harmlessly into the sky, destroying everything in its path for miles above.
Once the blast was over, the Sun Beast turned its head back down, confused for the very first time since they had encountered it.
And more than anything... blood leaked from its mouth, dark and thick, dripping down onto the scorched ground below.
For the first time ever, the legendary-rank monster was bleeding, its invincible aura shattered by a single punch.
Silence fell over the clearing as everyone stared at the sight before them.
Alicar had drawn first blood from the Sun Beast, something that nobody had ever been able to do before.
