Chapter 92: I’ve gotten weaker…
Before the ten void blades could hit him, Aegis suddenly appeared in front of him, glowing with its familiar green light.
Leon’s eyes widened at the sudden flash of light, and he felt his mind jolt completely back awake from its paralyzed state.
The cold fog of fear that had trapped his thoughts dissolved in an instant as the green shield flared to life before his face.
’Aegis, you’re back!’ he thought in excitement.
He distinctly remembered Arthur cutting the shield into two during their fight in that strange dimension.
He felt overjoyed to see that the legendary shield was still completely intact, functioning perfectly in the real world.
Three of the void blades sent by Yeon struck the shield head-on instead, crashing against the green surface with a loud, metallic ring.
They were immediately broken into pieces upon impact, unable to pierce through the shield’s barrier.
However, the remaining seven void blades did not crash into the green barrier like the first three.
They suddenly dissolved into space, disappearing into thin air only to instantly reappear right behind Leon.
The blades charged at him from all angles at blinding speed, seeking to impale his unguarded back and sides.
Leon subconsciously swung Excalibur behind him to parry the incoming attacks, relying on his instinctual battle reflexes.
But then, he couldn’t feel any power from the weapon whatsoever as he swung the hilt around.
The blade felt completely dead and hollow in his hands, like it was nothing but a piece of metal.
He gnashed his teeth in frustration, twisting his body quickly, dodging the incoming blades at the last second as they whistled past his skin.
He barely managed to leap out of the main line of fire, his bare foot landing heavily against the concrete floor.
Just as he thought he was safe, two of the void blades vanished into darkness once again.
They reappeared at another unexpected angle in a second, charging right back at him with lethal precision.
Leon was caught off guard by the second attack, unable to adjust his body in mid-air to dodge again.
One of the dark blades stabbed directly into his left shoulder, tearing through his torn clothes.
At the exact time, the other dark blade stabbed straight into his upper leg, biting deep into his thigh.
The void blades didn’t cut very deep though, failing to pierce through his bone or hit any major arteries.
However, they still cut deep enough to draw out fresh, warm blood that immediately soaked through his clothes.
Leon staggered backward under the sharp impact of the hits, his knees buckling slightly as a wave of pain washed over him.
He clutched his bleeding shoulder, his breathing ragged as he stared down at the dull golden sword in his hand.
His heart sank as he realized the bitter reality of his current condition, thinking to himself, ’I’ve gotten weaker...’
All the massive boosts he had received from Excalibur had suddenly vanished completely into nothingness.
The sudden drop in power felt like a crushing weight on his entire system.
Normally, he would have easily dodged every last one of those void blades without breaking a sweat.
His superhuman reflexes would have allowed him to weave through the attack pattern with effortless grace.
However, his mind was struggling terribly to adapt to the drastic, sudden loss of strength.
His brain was still expecting his body to move at godlike speeds, creating a dangerous delay between his thoughts and his actual movements.
He frowned deeply as pain throbbed through his wounded shoulder and leg, his jaw clenching tight in pure fury.
’Arthur... how dare you screw me over like this?!’ he thought.
The man was the only reason he was now weakened, having to struggle against Yeon’s Void blades.
The exact moment he thought bad about Arthur, Excalibur’s hilt rapidly heated up in his tight grip.
The cold metal transformed into a scalding furnace in less than a second, the heat increasing until it felt like his bare palms were resting directly inside a burning oven.
The smell of singed flesh filled the air as the holy weapon rejected his toxic thoughts.
He grunted in agony, his fingers reflexively opening as he immediately dropped the scalding blade.
The dull golden sword tumbled through the air, falling tip-first toward the concrete floor.
The moment the tip touched the ground, a powerful golden wave exploded violently out of the weapon’s guard.
The shockwave tore through the room with explosive kinetic force, blasting Leon off his feet and throwing him hard to the side.
He crashed against the floor meters away, skidding across the ground as the wave repelled him completely.
The sword stood firmly planted upright in the center of the room, radiating a faint, mysterious hum.
Yeon and the other Roaring Lions guild members’ gazes immediately locked onto the holy sword planted into the ground.
Their eyes flashed with intense greed as they stared at the legendary weapon standing completely unguarded.
They had all witnessed the terrifying power the blade possessed just moments prior during Leon’s wild rampage.
They all ran towards it at full speed, abandoning their formations and battle strategies.
Every single hunter present had the exact same desperate thought burning in their mind, driven by blind ambition to get the sword for themselves.
They scrambled forward like wild beasts, eager to claim the ultimate treasure and inherit its godlike power.
Yeon used his Void Surfboard to boost his momentum, closing the distance faster than anyone else in the guild.
He reached his hand out with a triumphant, manic grin on his face, his fingertips mere inches away from touching the golden hilt.
Yeon was just about to reach it, confident that the legendary relic was finally his to command.
Suddenly, a brilliant yellow lightning streak whooshed past him with a deafening crackle of electricity.
The blinding speed of the intruder kicked up a violent gust of wind that threw Yeon completely off balance.
Before anyone could comprehend what had happened, the player wrapped his hand firmly around the hilt of Excalibur.
